He has any of you guys or gals on here see interview with the CEO of Palmetto State Armory I think it was at shot show? He explained why people are confused about always dunking on PSA for cheap rifles and it has to do with their direct-to-consumer sales they're not selling to middlemen so they don't have to Jack the price up to offset you know middleman margins, but it's also because in his words they're not charging more money for a brand name. So in his opinion you are paying for quality control quality assurance in a very good product when you buy a Daniel's defense or a BCM or whatever but you're also paying for the name. I also did not know from that interview that fabric National makes all their barrels and they have forever.

ive seen many of them go for about 10 times that, especially the yugo's, with some of the rarer and more desirable varieties easily going into the $2k range. from what ive seen you'll pretty much only find the chinese examples for around the $5-600 range, and even then most of them tend to be either in really shit conditon with parts missing (i.e. no bayonet or cleaning rod), or are bubba specials modified with fugly plastic furniture, a rail for an optic of some kind, and made to take AK mags (which unfortunately makes them a "banned by name" assault weapon here in NJ).
I paid about $850 for my matching yugo M59/66A1 when I got it like a year or two ago, and that was one of the cheaper listing I'd seen, most were asking around $1000 or more, Brandon really wasnt kidding when he said they cost about the same as some AK's these days, which funnily enough includes the venerable Serbian "yugo" ZPAP M70.

I'm a former Quality Manager for an AR platform manufacturer. If you want reliability, go mil-spec bolt carrier group. If you want accuracy at distance, simply buy a high quality barrel. You can literally buy a PSA bottom of the barrel AR, switch out the barrel and turn it into a competition shooter.
If you want to know the differences in quality, accuracy, etc talk to someone who actually makes them, not someone who just shoots guns.

@Wall-E-w7y It's not about the brand. It's about the dimensions. I've inspected multiple barrels from various manufacturers using air gaging, bench centers, and indicators. The most consistent I found were from Daniel Defense. I found others from other manufacturers that were great, too. But their quality control let out of spec barrels pass affecting quality. Most barrels are gundrilled, and it's more difficult to hold straightness at .0002 (which is what anyone should expect for a quality barrel) the longer the barrel is.
For my barrels over 18", I take them to a machine shop, throw them on centers, and check them. You'd be surprised at the variation you'll find.

I have 3 different 'Blemished' Uppers from them. All for a great bargain.
Couldn't find a blemish on two of them. One had a couple of tiny dings in the handguard.👍 One had a very slightly off center gas block from the barrel dimple being milled at about 6:30 instead of 6:00... Maybe they considered That to be the defect?🤷🏼‍♂️
PSA Has a NQA Lifetime Warranty, so maybe the 'Blems' are returns from nitpickers, ...or maybe they're trying to avoid that situation in advance...
One of those uppers was not in the box with the other items from that order, even though the shipper said it was supposed to be in the box.
I called their CS, and they Overnighted me an upper that literally showed up 24 hours later.👍

Back in the 80s as an AF K9 handler we carried a GAU-5 that looked remarkably similar to that.

I like how compact it is. Reminds me of the CAR 15 but not with all the flash and hiccups.

I just finished my PSA build. Got an 80& lower and the rest of the parts for less than $500.

I love this - and would keep it stock, however. How easy would it be to replace the hand guard with 20mm picatinny rail? Easy swap out or requires gunsmithing?

Im using a psa upper with a bushmaster lower and it is absolutely my most reliable rifle at $670. Ive modified it a little bit but i dont have to fight with it or push the mag upward to make it function like in my ar10

PSA upper or kit sales with a FN CHF Cl barrel are amazing quality, you may have to toque some parts and true the upper, the stock BGCs and bolts are grest as in they sre cjrome lined inside and are up to spec just chabge the extractor spring (allway best to inspect) but apart from fully chromes BGCs and bolts, nitride or any other coating.... Sure they may look good and be faster to clean on the oitside but most dont oerform well conosred to s milspec standard phosphate BCG with the inside chromed.

It's so weird that AKs are the single most mass produced rifle in the world and are known for being cheap and easy to use... but in America they're hipster guns for people who have a few grand to blow who don't want the same AR that everyone else has.
I'm glad we live in a day and age where you can get an AR for the same price as what you could get an AK for 20 years ago. It makes it easier for us to share ammo and parts with each other 😂

I bought a dagger and the firing pin snapped in half after 150 rnds and some dry firing. Not the tip but the center of the pin. You get what you paid for.

I used to dislike the amount of velocity you lose from a pistol, but once you factor in how low the recoil is, how flat it shoots and how light the ammo is, it's kind of unmatched.
