Does soccer need to be #1? Not really. The U.S is a massive country so as long as the popularity keeps scaling up that's all that matters. The infrastructure of MLS has position itself to be a destination for up and coming South American talent; not to mention that it's quality is among the best around the planet. An important element for growth is investment at the grassroots level and to move away from pay to play schemes..

Soccer does not need to be #1, that’s not the point here. Soccer is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. but way far behind of the sports that we mentioned in this video. I’m sorry but to say that South American talent that comes to the MLS is among the best around the planet is a little too much, the best players do not play in the MLS unless if they’re old and wanting to make extra money before retiring. I agree with you on the element for growth is investment at the grassroots level, that’s for sure.
