Amazing video!👍👏 I just began my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They have an incredible range of digital comics for every genre, including the hard to find ones. Lifetime updates too!😁
Thank you for sharing, keep doing what you do!!!
Hard to tell, we only saw a few books out of 13 short boxes, impossible to make an assessment
I feel you did well with the $1000 price tag. Modern books are still good and they often fly out of my boxes since I price them at $1 each. Modern comics that recently came out according to my LCS Owner whose been doing this for years even says, Modern books are often tough to find at $1 as most LCS sell those at full back issue price plus cover.
That’s why they sit there and no one buys them dufus
Hi Gary I honestly think you did pretty well with this collection!! and what you spent to get this collection!! So don't beat yourself up too much thinking about how much you spent on you actually did pretty good pretty decent!! Maybe with those 12 small short boxes you'll do another video breaking them down showing like two at a time like you did before with the bigger 52 small box collections!!?? I enjoy your videos!! keep up the good work!! 😊😁👍
Thanks for always sharing Gary
Great video as always, keep up the great work
Cool series! Keep them coming
It was nice meeting you on Sunday at NYCC in line at CGC. You had at least 5k of books from what i saw in your shortbox, you good! 😂
You DID WELL!!!!!! ...... Thats all that needs to be said my friend. Wow.
Gary, look at the back of that Spiderverse 6. Many if the copies show a minor printing defect along the back edge of the book (opposite the spine) that lower the grade to 8.5 to 9.0
Oh heck yes I’ll be happy!! I counted another 40 longs in storage during the move so I’ll be hitting you up soon .
Super helpful, totally worth watching
Wow, fantastic video. Thanks a lot!
That’s fantastic, thanks for sharing
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for Hooking me Up with those Awesome Comics 🫡
Probably a profitable pick up, but more work than normal and not a slam dunk by any stretch. The short boxes are worth a few bucks :D
You know sometimes I understand you want a win with every buy, but even on the low at $1 a piece it should come back to you. I think it’s also ok to maybe throw those bones to the seller. I know it’s already difficult to sell low but long as they’re happy moving it I’m sure you can still find a way to move those books. Gotta keep the inventory lifeblood going!
You did fine imho! There's over $200 in just comic boxes! My entire collection is in them and they ain't cheap! If anyone ever buys me out there gonna have to give me $20 per box on top of their offer or take them home in garbage bags! 😂
I agree especially if these are the old sturdy boxes that they DO NOT make anymore. No such things as Golden Age short boxes either.
wow, great video. thanks so much
Agreed more like $500 depending on how much bulk books there are.
It’s just one of those collections where yea you can turn a profit but it’ll be a long time till that happens
A real deadweight collection and the stuff I pass on currently. Just takes forever to move $1-10 stuff now. Couple years ago, no problem. If you were closer to the $500-600 mark you’d be better off but this feels like one where you spend $1000 to make $500 but takes you over a year to get there if at all
I agree with the sentiment from an earlier comment that the BCW boxes helps the value of the pickup, also I wonder if those can be written off on your taxes as supplies lol. But if those 2 slabs come back at a 9.8, then definitely everything on top of that should help break into the profit margin!
Jedi trick? Ha. Always fun to see…I guessed 700. Cheers Gary 🇬🇧 🇺🇸
Modern books are hits or misses. However, if you say it was 12 boxes with 4 books that will run you about $100 each. I say win. If the slabs were included then good win.
Many comments may not be considering the cost of setting up at a show in order to sell these.
I bought a Grab Bag ( 10 books ) on-line for 20 bucks the site promised i would get a Golden or Silver age comic instead i got comix i couldve gotten for a buck a piece at any comic book store
Not a great deal for you, but not a bad one either. You might double it. Sell the boxes (they're costly and collectors love them. Dollar books galore. That Spider-verse 6 and Spider-boy will be 9.8s and some of those slabs aren't shabby.
You win and then you loose. Let's hope for a win.
Not sure about the price, but im sure you'll make up all, if not most from Whatnot alone.
This collection included 13 short boxes and those 5 slabs. Yeah you did fine. Those slabs alone are $500.
Venom first host 3 sleeper
Walmart variant is 💵 book.
I sometimes think that if you had a video about what is in those 12-13 boxes, the community can comment on certain keys and specs that can help you get more value for that collection. I think when you find the value of each comic, you will be relieved in getting a profit, but I know that it takes work.... a lot of research. I think you did alright. I am hoping for the best for your investment, Gary. Thanks for the video!
He just completed a video series where he did just what you're describing.
You must be new here. He just finished a series of videos of the 52 short box collection where he took out each book and put them in separate piles for cgc, his whatnot sales, etc while asking his viewers if there was some key he missed and didn't know about.
@@daviclar867 Not really. I know that his did the series for the 52 short boxes and I saw the first part of the 40+ new collection (so far). The reason I said it was so that the community can help Gary spot keys that he might of missed (which the community helped Gary with keys and timestamps. Gary seemed a bit worried that he overpaid, so my suggestion of having ANOTHER comprehensive overview of that 12-13 box might put Gary at ease, if WE helped.
Gary, did you get those slabbed books as well?
I guess maybe in your area with lots of collections available you can consider it a poor buy. But up where I am with lots of buyers and limited people selling, I'd expect to pay twice that.
Hell no you didn't mess up, worse case is you got a healthy supply to sell.
Gerry, 13 short boxes for $1,000 is good cause even if you sell every book for $3.00 each you still come out ahead.
Dude you did ok stop stressing 😊
😮
It should be fine 😊
What happened to the slabs? If those are factored in I think it was an ok deal.
From a reader/collector stand point...1K for 12-13 short boxes? Yay! From a spec/flip point of view...beats me. That's not my game, though I enjoy watching the game being played.
I believe you tend to bulk out to another seller a lot of miscellaneous newer books, but I wonder if it would be worthwhile having a dollar bin a decent show and then bulking out the rest?
I dont usually have room for $1 books at my booth. But maybe a smaller show
Plenty of good issues i bet you will make your money back and then some regardless of how those grades go.
They r all bagged an boarded an in order that's is half the battle
Sounds like a good price
great content. ty
Based upon your rule of doubling what you paid, I would say you will come out fine. There's 12 small boxes with 150 comics in each one. Pricing most of them at $1 and then add in the slabs and the other "good" books I believe you will hit your $2000 target. I'm interested in finding out if you had to haggle over the price, and if so, what was the seller's original price.
I dont remember if there was any real negotiating. I bought this a while ago
You got plenty of short boxes and I think a $1000 is not bad probably will take awhile to sell them all but I think you did okay
That's not a bad price but it's going to a minute to get the profit you want.
If some of the books you need a 9.8 for, actually get a 9.8, I'd say you are around break even. Better than losing money I guess lol hopefully you are able to get ride of those books sooner than later
You’re good!
If you add the value of the PCW cases then you may have paid a decent price but take away those boxes. I do not think you should’ve paid more than $600.
I guessed $1200 Gary -- so I believe you did Ok, if not very well!
I understand the difficulty pricing a collection, as I am doing my own right now.
Do you think 40% of FMV is reasonable to ask for 60 issue runs of Silver/Bronze Age Spideys and FFs?
40%? isnt that a bit low?

I've seen that the market is soft now -- getting out of my pricier books at a small profit (I bought them four - five years ago, before the COVID/spec boom) is better than waiting five more years, hoping for an upturn.
Personally I think u did ok for 13 boxes how many per box? 140??
You're good, I'll buy it if you don't want it lol
Ooof…… you’ll definitely get your money back. But I probably would have offered 1/2 that.
Maybe I’m crazy but I said $300 to $500 in my head
I mean you got 1200+ comics for 1k if all are in good condition even selling at $3 a piece you can make a profit
1000 was my guess
I think you got a steal
Hey who would recommend to send books to for a press
I think I have it in the description. Xpresscbp@yahoo.com
You did perfectly well. I wouldn’t be shocked if you triple your money
Cant't win them all, but you win way more often than you lose from what I can tell. You should break even at least.
Holy smokes… I think you are awesome but I would say around 500-600 was the range…
U did fine
I would have guessed $750-$800 for that collection. I guess you overpaid a little, but not if those do come back 9.8s.
Seems ok not great but ok😊
$500 tops
I’m sure you’ve underpaid many time’s don’t sweat it
New modern books, blah. 😤 Overpaid probably, hopefully your still not buying collections without first looking at them?
You seem to overpay a lot!
I definitely don't think you'll double up on it. But, you will profit, especially if that Spiderverse comes back a 9.8.
