Former Minority Chairman Nazir Khan has raised serious concerns about the ongoing coal pollution crisis, blaming internal conflicts among local leaders for the lack of progress. Khan specifically pointed to the alleged confusion and discord between MLA Sankalp Amonkar and local councillors as a primary reason for the failure to offer any substantial relief to affected communities.
In a recent statement, Khan highlighted the urgent need for coherent and united action to tackle the coal pollution, which continues to affect the health and livelihoods of many residents in the region. "The people are suffering while our leaders are entangled in conflicts," he said. "This is unacceptable."
Khan further criticized South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes, urging him to raise the issue in the upcoming parliamentary session. "If Captain Viriato Fernandes fails to address this critical issue in parliament, we will be the first to confront him," Khan warned.
Residents have long complained about the detrimental effects of coal pollution, including respiratory problems and environmental degradation. The lack of effective measures to mitigate these impacts has led to growing frustration and calls for immediate action.
As the parliamentary session approaches, all eyes will be on Captain Fernandes to see whether he will heed these calls and bring the coal pollution crisis to the national stage.
