How do we get the team to play this tuff in sept and oct. ? Everyone from top to bottom is to blame. Losing to the patriots should never be forgotten and the media and fans alike should bring that up leading up to opening day next season.

The lesson the front office can learn from rankins. Dont play guys just bc they played great against you, especially when they beat up on a terrible guard, a guard you know is terrible

Lou should NOT be the only coach / coaching for their job... I realize you guys have to have a relationship with the coaching staff but C/mon Zac should be on the hot seat... I struggle to remember in my 47 years on the planet a QB have the year Joe has had and not even get a shot at the playoffs... Wasting Joes best year as a Pro.
Imagine the idiocy of drafting guys like Zeitler and Bates and decide, because of position, they aren’t worthy of retaining at a top price?
Lou isn't the problem. No Reader, no Bates, no Dax, no Sample, no left side pass rush, no Turner. The blame is totally on the front office and injuries

Nonsense. Even with them all, we were usually 21st in defense. And since the coaches are very involved in the draft, it was he who is partially responsible for Miles Murphy, Dax Hill, Battle, Ossai, Sample, Gunther, etc, as well as signing FAs Nick Scott, Sheldon Rankins, Geno Stone, & Von Bell (2 years too late).

Lou deserves some blame. He let Hubbard start on one leg and he was actually a negative on the field, almost like playing a 10 man defense bc teams went after Sam in the run game and didn't need to worry about him in the pass game. Sam would still be starting if he didn't get hurt and couldn't play. Lou also didn't adjust the defense for 12 straight games and the d has been so much better since he simplified it and stopped asking young guys to do to much.
Lou is 100% to blame for the Steelers scoring 44 points on us. Coaching has been piss poor for 2 straight seasons.
The front office deserves blame for letting guys go but Lou and the coaches are heavily involved in the draft process and Lou can’t develop the guys he wants out of the defensive draft picks. Many are sucking and Lou deserves a ton of that blame.

The Bengals "brain trust" has had a very peculiar take on guards for a very long time. The only thing that has reliably stopped Joe Burrow, especially in the biggest moments, has been quick pressure up the middle, and they couldn't care less
Lou is not the problem. The front office and ownership are the problem. You can’t let your best defensive players walk and expect the defense to stay competitive. The lack of depth on the interior of the DL has been a huge problem. The rookies are playing better and show promise but there needs to be better depth.
Vegas says the Bengals winning is the most likely, the Jets winning is the second most likely, and the Chiefs winning is the 3rd most likely. Our playoff odds would shoot up from about 4% to about 25% if we didn't need the Chiefs to win.
The Bengals brass will absolutely allow themselves to be suckered by beating the likes of Cooper Rush, Levis/Mason Rudolph, DTR and Bo Nix.
All the blame belongs to the front office. Bad Drafting, bad free agents.
Great conversation on the defense. What we don't know is how much input Lou has on free agents/drafting. You guys have been clear in the past couple of seasons how much Lou hates rookies. You've done stories on him specifically saying he doesn't trust them, and that's been borne out with Dax/Murphy sitting their rookie years. Don't learn, don't progress and then look like deer in headlights when they get in. So having a structure that pays $$$ to Burrow, Chase and potentially Higgins means having a d-coordinator that can work with young, cheap draft picks. It's not a good model as currently constructed.
In reference to the MVP conversation concerning Joe Burrow why does no one mention how much better his already amazing stats would be had his defense been what we are accustomed to?

Get back to taking best player available in the draft. Reaching for replacements for impending free agents isn’t working out. At least try to draft potential replacements later. Some big misses Murphy, Carmen are some examples.

This Reader conversation 😮is all BS. First, he suffered a major injury last year, and no one knew when he would be ready and how good he would be. Last year, WITH awful on run defense. Third, the cap matters and there's only so much money. They tried on others and got outbid. Fourth, their awful defense is due to guys getting old (Bell, Hubbard, Wilson, Pratt) and the total failure to draft and develop good defensive players - Murphy, Hill, Sample, Gunther, Turner, Anderson, Hunt, Battle, Thompson, Still, Jefferson, etc.
Rankins had the majority of his sacks against the Bengals--Volson? Why would the Bengals sign him??? Buffoonery
