Giving drugs to drug addicts used to be called enabling
We did the war on drugs and the problem is worse then ever. Harm réduction strategy makes way more sense according to the data
Right? It's like allowing your toddler to continue throwing things, affirming their bad behaviour. Or giving guns to those who have previously been convicted of an offense. It's absolutely ridiculous because it just adds fuel to the fire.
He’s doing it because he’s tanking in the polls. Enough said.
No after 9 long years he cares! Just trust him

BC NDP has been championing free drugs for junkies for years now. It’s bad policy !
Crap. That's not their policy. They just accept the reality of the failures over 50 years including the failed efforts to incarcerate from decades ago.
@@bradcanning875the only failures are those that advocate to let drug abusers O.D. themselves 🤡👈 that's what you look like rn
its not just policy its ideology. they wouldnt walk back on decriminalization of drugs if their poll numbers werent sinking to the BCCons
The policy doesn't work. Stop trying to imagine a scenario where it does!
nothing the ndp liberals are doing works its all rose colored glasses and pipe dreams they treat junkies as victims while seniors get evicted end up homeless its disgusting
They cannot point to anything, can they?
I'm with ya
There are scenarios where it did in Europe and Australia before fentanyl. What's your solution or that of your conservatives???? The failed incarceration solution from decades ago?
@bradcanning875 The BC model does not work because they don't focus enough on rehabilitation and instead think that simple decriminalization will remove stigma and magically bringing addicts to getting help. I think the results show that has backfired spectacularly.
Instead of removing stigma, the open use of drugs has created more stigmatization of drug use. This is because the policy in BC has allowed a free-for-all for drug use and basically allows the criminal gangs to divert government 'safe supply'. If you look into it, you'll find that other jurisdictions did not do what BC is doing.
Forced detox and rehab.
How bout a 2 week all inclusive trip to Cancun.
The NDP turning on their own ideology 😂 Pretending its Trudeaus fault.
Yara sacks just reiterated the liberals insistence that the opium war is not a criminal justice matter. This IS a federal liberal policy, drug crimes are federal.
I will never vote for the liberal, ndp party , just devastating Canada 😢 🇨🇦
Eby and turdeau work to demonstrate that utter incompetence can also be achieved collaboratively.
weak leaders create hard times
Eby has to go!
Why? He should be giving out free alcohol to alcoholics! Canada is depression.
and he will
@TheFunnyMan-iy4hf yup I hear ya
Serves the province right for voting NDP 🤪
We didn't vote for him. Horgan got cancer and stepped down.
I was in dawson creek not long ago , hard times have hit bc .
Canadians are waking up, maybe. Hopefully.
Premier Eby miraculously got religion on recriminalization when he got a look at the latest polls where he is currently in free-fall. It is a joy to behold.
The BC NDP & fed NDP&liberals giving away free drugs.
Is act of looniness’
I’m 100% ready to vote ☑️ ASAP !!!
Poilievre !! For PM
Eby is worst Premier in BC history !!
We didn't vote him in !!!
That’s what happens when you get placed and not elected
do we give achohol out for free to alcoholics?
Ohh thats a great idea! YOU ARE A GENIUS AND A SCHOLAR
Alcoholics need medecine too!
They do that in DTES, it’s been going on for years, there is an alcohol dispensary that gives alcoholics one drink per hour for 12 hrs. They have a choice of a beer, glass of wine, or an ounce of hard liquor.
@@pauloantunes8372 where is that? Never heard of it
@@vancouver1261 In the east Hastings area, it’s been going on since the 90’s.
It was started to keep “problem” drinkers from drinking after shave and other dangerous things.
@@pauloantunes8372 Thanks I never knew that before. So I guess we are enabling alcoholics and drug addicts then.
How many dead because of his progressive ideas?
New record. 2500 plus I think.
Competing with New Yorks Coumo sending covid patients to the old age homes rather than Trumps Mercy and Comfort ships, the cooking the books on corpses.
Youth overdose deaths have skyrocketed since this project started too. BC medical examiner office has sounded the alert every year since the project started
Sure it should be criminalized, we use tax payer dollars to feed these junkies
Yes we should make alcohol free to alcoholics by this NDP reasoning.
It costs 9 billion a year more than the alcohol tax provides for medical and social and legal services from the impacts of alcohol on our roads, our medical system, and our family and criminal courts. Drugs impact about 300 million. Many addicts are victims of alcohol abuse in their homes. Your kind are such hypocrites.
Decriminalization is not the same thing as legalization.
This is destroying communities in BC. Our city has doubled in homeless population in the past 3 years
Another failed ndp policy
the drug and homeless problems allows for massive bureaucracy of handsomely paid government workers and consultants. If these problems get fixed than the easy money gravy train would end. thats why it is better to exacerbate the problem with de-Criminalization without treatment. keep the problems so you can offer the solutions, which is always about taking away freedoms and rights and more taxes. bada bing bada boom
You are 100% correct.
_"They have to. To justify their wages."_
I have to say as a former addict myself, 5 years sober, though I never found myself without a home, I hid my use very well and always made work a priority to try and hold onto some type of control, I really don’t think the safe use strategy is the most effective - I think treatment resources have to be at the forefront. I realize it’s an intricate scenario and that I’m sure it helps in some certain way, but I think deterring substance use and trying to enforce more treatment is the only way to help, because an addict needs that rock bottom or that epiphany and certainly a shoulder to guide them into treatment. I don’t know, that’s just my opinion having experienced addiction.
They should have thought about it more before putting it out there saying you can do drugs anywhere.... Liberals and NDP aren't looking at long term
Trudeau and Eby should be ashamed of themselves.
not a crime, but it's not to be done in public spaces neither.
public spaces are not any individual's backyard or bathroom.
the problem is, they have no homes to use in. they wouldn't be in the parks if they had a place of their own.
@@ihategooglesomuch that would seem to be the reason, however it's still not right. It's like saying you wouldn't be robbing someone's wallet if you had your own money. There's reason, and there's law.
Eby merely wants to decriminalize drugs because he needs the conservative votes in BC.
I can't believe that making drugs accessible would cause harm? Who would have guessed.
Well, apparently by your logic the BC police chiefs didn't guess that, as they were the main advocates for decriminalization to begin with.
@@twinsong I don't believe the rank and file wanted decriminalization.
Eby is another criminal , he should be in jail
Enabling doesn’t help junkies
Vassy says that “harm reduction policies do work”. Perhaps she ought to have said that harm reduction is only part of the solution.
Its not just"unpleasant,' its DANGEROUS!! Use your words correctly!!!
Can we make shrooms legal
Well that was inconclusive, in true Canadian journalistic style. How many times did the news anchor say "like"? 🤔
Almost like legalizing hard drugs was a BAD idea 🤔
Um, what are these benefits of harm reduction exactly???
Harm reduction workers are now coming out to say they are just selling the drugs
Unelected Eby is "requesting re-criminalization of drug use". Healthcare is provincial jurisdiction.
B.C. premier have blood on his hand.
When you represent Hell you can't pretend to disown it Eby
This is NOT a political issue. It is a Humanitarian Issue. HARM reduction for whom ? If you are NOT reducing the Harm for everyone you are increasing it for the few which translates into Harm for everyone if the few are the exception! A wholistic approach is far more intensive but desperately needed as a society that prefers bandaids over healing. Look to what works in Countries where this problem is NOT bringing Death and Humiliation upon it's Citizens. We need to RAISE our Values and Compassion .. NOT lower them.
About bloody time but we know he’s doing this because he tanking!
He wants to keep his laywer friends working
Who voted for Eby......oh ...wait....nobody voted for him. DeepThroat Horgan selected him.
they trade safe drugs for street drugs. period
Kathleen monk is extremely biased. the balance of a panel seems pretty professional.
Must be an election coming or something...right ? 😂
Awesome 🛡👍
Enough money for the addicts
Bout time! Stupid is as stupid does....
Why isn't he charged for pushing illegal deadly drugs?
by the way does that mean drug addicts would still be allowed to break into my private house and smoke crack at my dining room table while I do a puzzle with my toddler?
Vassy would call that a very "nuanced" situation.
if you didn't have a home, you would eventually start smoking crack too.
@@ihategooglesomuch ihatesocialismsomuch
If you object, it’s antisemitism.
Funny how BC asked for more drugs and now they don’t want it lol this is like defund the police.
will there be a reversal after the election
I guess wealthy politicians has enough of moral posturing for the decade
Drug policy has to be linked to criminal policy, that is exactly what this issue is about. Notice the lack of great solutions from this panel.
It costs 9 billion a year more than the alcohol tax provides for medical and social and legal services from the impacts of alcohol on our roads, our medical system, and our family and criminal courts. Many addicts are victims of alcohol abuse in their homes. No outrage about that though.
except alcohol is not the leading cause of death in BC. Hard Drug overdoes is. Bit of a difference.
Lmao that trial didn't work out very well now did it?
1:25 yes he is part of the problem.
and Doctor (an undeserved title) Henry has the audacity to say "I don't have patience" - patience for those who support life, for those who speak the truth, whilst Dr Henry represents death - well Bonnie - you will face a reckoning as well (regardless of whether you believe it or not)
I call her Dr. Bonnie (Rotten) Henry
Poilievre 100% For PM
Drug laws have never worked. Prohibition didn't work for booze and the "Drug War" has been a complete failure.
We need Drug treatment for addicts, not jail cells. Weed has been legalized for years and not only has it been safe, it's been a huge economic boon for the country and many small businesses.
Where is Sing NDP no where. But keep supporting liberals with the drug problems in BC
No money for cancer treatment.
No money to hire doctors or nurses.
But there is money for free drugs 😂
Didn’t age well, did it!? What a bunch of NDP clowns. 😂
Everything Moe does is ‘political’ but no mention of Ebeys ‘political’ decision. It’s so plain he is doing it simply for votes. They honestly couldn’t see the chaos they would create? Thank goodness BC’d haven’t completely lost the plot!

I am still recovering, but i reiterate, all lonh term evidence suuports decriminalization.
Decriminalization alone does not work. You need a framework around it like treatment and rules in place before you go that step. The NDP government with the Federal governments help failed to do that. Deaths are at a new high since their program started among other serious issues.
