I just saw them in Detroit a couple days ago. I was a bit taken back on just how young they all are. Their sound is so refined and focused. Its just completely nuts. They were also extremely pleasant guys and were so humble and grateful to have people enjoying their music. I was also surprised just how few people were there. To me their such a huge band so that was also a massive shock. My wife and I drove 3hrs to get there it was completely blown away to finally see them live.
"Sickenly gratifying" is a great summary of the latest album. I didn't know these guys before it and I can't wait to see how they grow from here. Super-talents!
Can they do us all a favor and embark on a tour with Full Of Hell, Vermin Womb, and Knelt Rote?? Pretty please with sugar on top? They’d be doing the Lord’s work by blessing us with their presence together 🙏🏾☦️😈
I seen these guys play in L.A. a couple of years back and man, they are the most creative musicians out there. It’s almost too creative, as in their music isn’t for everyone but, they understand that. They don’t care of mass appeal, they care of expressing art and their performances shows that. Their singer also has insane vocal range, I appreciate that I got the chance to see these guys.
Check out Portal and see where they get their "creativity" from. Not a diss, I also enjoy their sound but it's not like they came up with that sound themselves.
When I listen to this guy talk, I feel like he was on the writing staff for the film, Inception. Having to look up words on your cell phone to sound more complex than the ideals you’re actually conveying is just adding complexity for complexity’s sake. Overcompensating for (perhaps) lack of an interesting idea to begin with comes from lack of confidence in your core belief. IE: ‘This won’t be cool enough unless I change every word to be difficult to understand.’ It doesn’t necessarily mean better writing or intelligence and at some point just damages the communication of your viewpoint. I can see from his writing that he put that in his songs as well. I actually like their sound too. But now I can see why Portal decided to keep the masks on, and not do very many interviews. Although that band is not mentioned at all that I’ve heard so far, it’s clearly their biggest influence on their most recent work.

He even talks like Dylan from Full of Hell.
He's on the spectrum, right?
