    OK, so I did this recipe yesterday, and also did the salt and sugar brine method for 6 hours using the same dry ingredients shown here to compare. The pickle soak (I did two hours) was very, very good while the salt/sugar brine was a bit salty and didn't taste as close to Chick Fil A. This is the ONE recipe you need to make great copycat sandwiches. Thanks!

    You can cut into it to see if it's cooked or use a thermometer to check the inside temperature. It should be at least 170ºF inside. If your oil is too hot, or the chicken is very cold when you put it in the oil, you're likely to cook the outside before the inside is done. But if you use boneless chicken, pound it thin, and fry it at a moderate temperature (350-360ºF) it should be cooked through in just a few minutes. Hope you try it!

    Chick-Fil-A doesn't like gay people? Man, I didn't realize Chick-Fil-A was an actually human being.

    I made this for my family, we loved it! My wife and I haven't had chick-fil-a in a few years. Our children have never had their food, so its nice to give them a nice treat without us paying a company to pay an organization to stop same sex marriage. What we do in our homes is our business. My family and I are happy. Our children aren't corrupted, evil, or even confused. Now the six of us can sit at our family table and enjoy this nice, yummy meal.

    They will sell food to anyone. Doesn't matter if you're gay or not. They don't discriminate. They might have different opinions on sexual orientation than most people, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion in the US. If the CEO, or who ever it is, thinks that being gay is "wrong" then they have that right. Much as you have the right to think otherwise. Boycotting the store, which is run by local people working at slave wages, isn't doing anything. So I don't understand the boycott. Food is food. They aren't forcing their opinions down your throat, they're only putting their food down there.

    • @StarcallerCeri
      @StarcallerCeri 10 років тому +20

      It wasn't just because of an opinion, I think he donated money to an anti-gay organization. You're not wrong necessarily, but the reason for the boycott wasn't as simple as someone having an opinion.

    • @Nate_the_Nobody
      @Nate_the_Nobody 10 років тому +6

      ***** which is a boycott...
      Boycott "withdraw from commercial (i.e. purchasing of products or goods) or social relations with (a country, organization, or person) as a punishment or protest".

      I'm a transgender woman. I've been refused service at a Chik-Fil-A before, in Georgia. They discriminate against LGBT people in hiring. They have company-led prayers and those who attempt to opt out will find themselves in a bad spot. Additionally, they financially support organizations that work to take rights away from LGBT people.
      They're not getting my money, and yes, it _is_ a boycott.

    Hilah! I've watched you for like 500 years and I love you! I am a Christian and I love all gay people! I love people of every color, race...whatever...because we are all the same. To explain my Christianity would take too long but I love God. I think I'll make a video about this. I've been on UA-cam since 2007 and closed my channel in the Spring. Then, I came back...so all my old videos are gone. I need to start making them again.

      I appreciate the fact that you say you love. But if you love God like you say you do than follow him, because in his word(the bible) he clearly says in Lev. 18:12 That You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. God does not want anyone to perish including those who are homosexuals.

    I lost track of the sexual innuendos in this video... So kudos on that.
    I need to point out though, there is no consistent evidence that MSG is bad for you, some people claim to be allergic/have a sensitivity to it, but thats true with a lot of things (gluten for example). So as long as you dont have a sensitivity to it, there shouldnt really be an issue using it.
    In fact, you would be surprised how many things its in that most people eat every day and dont know its in there, and never have a problem, but the moment you tell them its in there, they get all anaphylaxic. Its a naturally occurring amino acid after all.
    The fear arose a long time ago with the coined phrase "chinese food syndrome", but the evidence for it was anecdotal, and in every study since the reported symptoms were inconsistent, and while the more common symptoms have stigmatized the additive, MSG has 1/5 the lethality of regular Salt, and so has been approved by the FDA as GRAS (generally recognized as safe), It cannot be rated higher since some people do claim to have a sensitivity to it.
    In fact, there was even a double blind study on MSG, and the only person to have a "reaction" was someone with a self-identified sensitivity to MSG, and he had been given the placebo, not the MSG.
    Go figure. ;)

    • @ARealKillah
      @ARealKillah 10 років тому +2

      Thank you! I was going to point this out as well. MSG is essentially harmless and should be treated no differently than table salt. The hydrogenated oils (trans fats) some Chick-Fil-A items are a serious concern, though, so this recipe is still much healthier than the real thing.

    • @syn010110
      @syn010110 10 років тому +3

      If MSG was actually harmful to your health, most of Asia would be devoid of human life.

    • @ixamraxi
      @ixamraxi 10 років тому +2

      John Miranda - Have you (or anyone) demonstrated a link between Autism and MSG? I could just as easily point out that Asian countries have the highest consumption rate of Ginsing Tea as well, should we now assume now there is a link between Autism and Ginsing Tea? No, of course not, that would be silly. Correlation does not equal causation.
      As far as MSG being a chemical, so is dihydrogenmonoxide... also known as water.

    • @BlueHazyDreams
      @BlueHazyDreams 9 років тому +1

      John Miranda And this is the same argument people use who say milk causes osteoporosis. You can pick any two figures and link them together if you want to, but you need scientific studies to actually make a logically-sound deduction.

      Uh, yeah, actually I can. I can hate someone for believing in a religion that historically and currently oppresses my people, and I can hate a guy for being anti-gay either as a result of a religious belief or otherwise. AAAnd just because gay people aren't discriminated against by the employees in the restaurant, does not mean that the owners do not discriminate against gay people. I will not support their business. End of story.

      You already have equal rights, the belief of one company owner is not going to change that. You think this company is a like a nazi war machine trying to oppress you with every fucking dollar they earn? Grow the fuck up.

    Why is it we need to agree with someone's political/religious beliefs in order to do business with them? Are we voting them into office? People are constantly in a state of offendedness (don't think that's a word but it should be) these days. I don't go to Burger King and ask to see a bio on the man who founded the place before I order my whopper. In fact, I don't do that at any place I give my money to, and neither do most people I imagine.

    • @minarovich
      @minarovich 6 років тому +2

      True. Just because an old guy in charge who has his own beliefs (NOT EVERYONE THAT WORKS THERE) and it's obvious because they lose tons of money from closing on Sunday doesn't mean I'm not gonna eat their delicious food AND support all the people working there who have all kinds of beliefs. It's ridiculous.

      Imagine that! They close on Sundays and still make tons of money. I read that one of the owners died not long ago and was worth many millions. When that so called Gay protest was going on I noticed that the lines of cars going around my local Chic-Filet still wrapped around the building as always.

    Chick fil A made it clear they didn't support gay marriage which is not the same thing as "not loving the gay people so much". It was just their personal opinion. Now if they didn't allow hiring of openly gay people at their stores, that would be a different story.

    I still eat at Chick Fil A once in a while. I mostly just think of the franchise owners that may support gay rights - who knows - instead of thinking about the top people. Also, if we stopped eating at places or shopping at places simply because of someone's views we probably wouldn't eat/shop at a lot of places. They're just smart enough not to make their views known to the world.

      +xTiffannyx Buttermilk is an excellent marinade for fried chicken. It makes the chicken moist and juicy and only slightly tangy. If you use it, you could probably eliminate the egg mixture since buttermilk is thick and will cling to the chicken.

  • @pocketpj2722
    @pocketpj2722 8 років тому +6

    wow. so uh first off. just because you have gay friends doesn't mean you can't go to a really good restaurant for amazing food. Also being a Christian founded/run business means literally the opposite of "not loving the gays". Christian's, REAL Christian's not CLAIMED Christian's, love EVERYONE we just don't support gay marriage or LGBTQ.. it's not our beliefs. Let me also remind you that when people were protesting and being rude to Chick-fil-A, THE BUSINESS MADE SURE THOSE PEOPLE HAD WATER BECAUSE IT WAS HOT OUTSIDE. Get educated before oppressing and trying to eradicate a religion. Thanks.

    • @hilahcooking
      @hilahcooking  8 років тому +5

      +PizzaJester lol "eradicate a religion" is taking it a bit far. You should educate yourself on the founder of cfa donating money to organizations who teach conversion therapy. Agreed that many individual franchise owners are good people, though

    • @cali2432
      @cali2432 8 років тому

      Hilah Cooking soooooo giving money to organizations who teach conversion therapy = don't like gay people....yea....that makes no sense. Conversion therapy are for people who are confused about their sexuality and want to talk to someone or that maybe want to convert their sexuality but don't know how to do so. These therapists are trained to be patient and gentle with their patients and ultimately if u go to a therapist it's your CHOICE. All chick fil a is doing is giving people who are homosexual options of what they can do that's all. They don't treat gay people bad in their restaurant I mean they hey don't even need to know ur gay it's like they ask you as soon as you walk in so just cause this a Christian organization the avoiding to eat there cause you have gay friends makes no sense but hey you do you I guess xD

      Oh, nonono, how very wrong you are. But here let's look at the facts!
      Chicken breast - $2.50 a pound; 8 oz per breast; $1.25 per breast; half a breast per sandwich; $0.75 per sandwich
      Pickles - $3 per jar; 64 slices per jar; 2 slices per sandwich; $0.10 per sandwich
      Buns - $3 per bag; 8 per bag; 1 per sandwich; $0.38 per sandwich
      Eggs - $2 per dozen; 2 per batter; $0.33 per batter; $0.16 per sandwich
      Flour - $3 per 5 pound bag; 1 cup per batter; $0.17 per batter; $0.09 per sandwich
      Grand total per sandwich? Roughly $1.56.

    • @twdjt6245
      @twdjt6245 10 років тому +5

      Yea lets support anti-gay bigotry from a company like CFA instead! SO worth the sandwich fix!.....that you can make yourself.....and for cheaper..and more customized......with just a bit of time and effort....
      Just say it like it is instead of using the supposed cost as an excuse....you're too lazy to make this yourself so would rather just get it at the drive through.
      Which is your right.
      But fyi....those of us who cook regularly at home likely already have most of these ingredients purchased in large quantities (in comparison to what is needed)......especially the seasonings and basic ingrdients like flour, eggs, milk, and oil , not to say that they don't cost money because you already have them....but the total cost per sandwich comes out to way cheaper than it is at CFA regardless.

    I made it without celery salt and it came out very good. My only complaint was that it could be a bit crispier. A Google search revealed that maintaining a good oil temp and adding Ac'cent (MSG) will help with that.
