I've been obsessed with Magic Sam since the first time I heard him. Can't tell you how stoked I was to find this lesson! Loving your channel.
Awesome! Thank you!
You look like a kid in a candy store when you're listening to him play. That's a good thing.
This is will forever be the greatest shuffle all of time. Dudes barely on the radar he’s so 🔥
So underrated compared to other blues legends. One of my favorite riffs in all of music. Also listen to “Sly and Sleezy” from one of his last albums (late 60s). So ahead of it’s time.
Honestly
But why... are you so good 🙃 for me you’re are the best current teacher on UA-cam for boogie style. That’s so fun to play. Thanks a lot.
I discover at the same time Magic Sam and that gives me motivation for playing sweet home Chicago too. 👍
Finally! Thank you. I’m nowhere near your skill level but I appreciate the hell out of this breakdown.
Thanks for this lesson. I've tried to play this for years. My best efforts were trying to play it in open G. It works a bit.
Thank you for your kind words! I'm happy to hear that the lesson made a difference.
Magic Sam has some nasty tone!
Damn Nasty!
Thanks for another great lesson.
Lots of nuances you’ve shown us all here 👍
And as you mentioned there are many details shaping the sound and groove of this.
Thanks Heath!
Wow.. this is crazy hard. Great skills. Sam was da man.
Great lesson; if you can nail it it's so satisfying to play. By the way if you play with your fingers over the neck pickup like magic sam you get a really authentic tone; using a guitar with humbuckers (in my case mini humbuckers in a 1972 deluxe goltop) really help out.
wow a lesson on this incredible piece of music! Gonna try it today. Sadly he died at 32 - what a loss.
I cannot thank you enough for posting this.
I've listened to this for years and just did not think it was possible to learn.
Great lesson and much appreciated, cheers!
I thought I knew the blues but you are shining a light in some of the less well known corners.
vous etes un merveilleux professeur ; merci beaucoup
oui!!!!
Awesome !! Thank. I’ll try it in the morning! Thank you!
Awesome! Let me know how it goes in the morning. Thanks for watching!
The humblest thank you for taking the time to make this video.
I really appreciate that you showed how to play this on acoustic, great lesson!
I've gone through about three of your videos today. Man my fingers are getting sore. Saving this one for another day.
Brilliant, you're the main man on here for blues, thank you.
Cheers mate to make me discover this great bluesman. I Love this boogie.
You're great teacher, I am fan of your work.

Magic Sam has such a sick tone here! Fantastic boogie man!! Great tutorial Thanks!
Glad you are doing lessons on deep dives like Magic Sam. This is amazing!!
Oh hell yeah Bro🤘🔥
Thanks so much for the lesson. The Magic Sam footage is one of my favorites. Effortless cool, on a borrowed guitar. Awesome stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and commenting!
So oooooooooh ❤
George Thorogood told me this and "21 Days in Jail" were his 2 favorite Magic Sam tunes.
Second variation has a hammer on. I think the thing people miss on this or any style country blues is the SWING.
Great!
Awe hell yeah....!
Man ! you don't know how much I waiting for this lesson ! thank a lot ! , I'm Saving money for your Book ! is coming soon ?..jajaja

your lessons are so great it is really a joy to follow these . also you brought r.l.´´s hypnotic stuff right in the face. awesome dude. really really really triple thumbs up and all. gracias jewboy
hey, thanks for all your GREAT lessons. Really enjoy it!
In the main riff here, could you go over the tab where it has the 4thstr 2ndfret E note?
Is it muted, a pull off or what? Hard to hear it being played!
AND, if you just plat the the bass line (0234 then 0434) of that tab… doesn’t sound like what you’re playing.
That’s my hangup! Thanks!!!
I would like to see a call and response blues lesson because i want to learn to play a solo in this style
Any chance you might do a lesson on a Robert Pete Williams song?? Perhaps "dyin soul"?
He does some really cool unique licks that id like to see broken down
Thanks for the lessons !
YEAH MAN !!!!!!!
Part of your Var #2 is not correct. The ending riff. The proper riff can be added just a little lower on the neck and using hammer on. It’s easy with just a little practice. Great video and the closest I’ve seen yet to how it is really played. I could have not figured it out otherwise.
Hey there is a Blues jam called (I got a rich mans woman) i humbly hope that you can serve us with a sesson on it. (praying hands)
standard tuning?
You videos are priceless and you have excellent music tastes, at least similar to mine 😃
I want to play this and dive bomb Daryl into the chorus. Like if Pantera played in to old age they be jamming this with zz top
😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫 fuck yeah
why ads
my like became 666😮
Haha thanks for the like 😈
fantastic but why not teach it on that amazing chet atkins gitarrr....also no thumbpick needed!!! sam didnt
I can not for the life of me get used to using a thumb pick it feels so awfully unnatural.
Everyone feels like that at first. Most people quit before it feels comfortable. I tried a bunch of times over 10 years or so and it never felt okay. Until I did this:
1. Just wear it during the day while you're doing other things, away from your guitar.
2. Tap it on tables or anything to hear a tap sound.
This will give your brain some feedback on how it feels and itll become an extension of your thumb. Itll feel better in about a week or 2 after doing this daily.
Oh man, fantastic advice thank you. That's actually kinda how I got the triplets down for flamenco playing. I would just practice the motions on my fingers throughout the day
