I speak Portuguese very well but there's nothing like Biafra in Portuguese word but in Igbo there's (come and see) unlike Nigeria which has meaning in Portuguese ( Nigro.. Black, eria.. The entire Eastern region became known as Biafra only after Ojukwu made that declaration. The present day Eastern States ate not part of the coastal regions that made up Biafra as they do not live within or anywhere near the coast. The entire area of the gulf of Guinea which includes Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Sao Tome

From my understanding, I have listened to Kanu sometimes. He need to run an inclusive agitation not just focusing on Igbo. This is a very big challenge with the minorities in the region. There was a time i saw a man speaking Igbo but to my surprise it was igala the language sound so similar and they look like igbos.
My point being that in human history we have not been in one place people migrate to different places and mix with each other

Asari never said the name Biafra originated from an Ijaw man. Infact he pointed out clearly that the geographical location atound the ocean is known as Biafra and even Boro confirmed that in his book.
However, the point Asari was trying to make is that the name for the new republic declared by Ojukwu was suggested by an Ijaw man Frank Opigo, and that that republic was not an Igbo -only Igbo republic.
