Hello! I just bought a machine just like yours from a thrift store, and while it runs well. The top knob on the left will not rotate, and the top knob on the right will only turn from off to on. Do you have any suggestions or advice?
Hiya, You will need to get inside to remove any old grease that might have gone hard and then blast the mechanism with oil. If it still has those symptoms then look for anything broken or for springs that may have come off. Good luck👍👍
I recently inherited one of these machines but only just worked out the model and serial number thanks to the fantastically friendly staff at Janome HQ. It's a brilliant machine. I've now replaced the ankle so I can use click-on feet. Next challenge is to replace the bulb! Any advice?
Thats great news👍👍I can remember it being a great machine but I can't remember if it was a screw in bulb or not. I think it was a push and twist, so gently push the bulb upwards and turn. Good luck👍👍
Hi, I don't know the specific year but would say mid to late 70's. If you wanted the exact year you might be able to email Janome with the serial number on the base. Yes, very nice machine! 👍👍
Sorry, another question, my needle is not postioned in the center. Would you be able to show how to center it on this machine or know where I could find out how to do it? I have seen videos of other machines being recentered, but getting to the screws on this model 545 seems different. There are no repair shops near where I live. Thank you.
So sorry, I don't remember, it was some time back when I had this machine. If you can't centre it via the levers then it may need stripping and cleaning to make sure nothing obstructing the arm.
