  • Black children were less likely to receive standard treatment for infantile spasms than White/non-Hispanic children, according to a prospective analysis of data on 555 children treated for the disorder in the US from 2012 to 2018.
Fiona M. Baumer, MD, assistant professor of neurology and pediatrics at Stanford University, reported on the findings in a platform presentation at the Child Neurology Society annual meeting. She discusses the findings and why they should lead to a call for action here in an interview with Ann Tilton, MD, FAAN, professor of neurology and pediatrics at the Louisiana State University Health Network. Dr. Tilton is an editorial board member of Neurology Today.
