One error! The sump plug should be replaced after the oil filter is removed. When the filter is removed, the oil in the housing runs down into the sump but since the plug has already been replaced, the old oil from the filter housing can not drain out so it mixes with the new oil.
On the filter that your removed, those teeth on the outer dimension of the plastic end, do they have a purpose? I just bought a filter that said it was specifically for my fiesta but the plastic end is completely round? When I’m searching for filters online for my car, they all seem to have the teeth like the one you removed here

So no specialist extension socket part to unscrew the oil filter? I assume the eco fiesta Mk7 is the same?
Please don't forget to torque down your sump plug and oil filter housing people!
Oil Drain Plug Torque 35 Nm (all diesel engines)
Oil Filter Cover Torque 25 Nm (diesel engines only)
All you need. Thank you.
Thanks John :)

Yes, it depend of the brand of the filter, our is a Purflux. It doesn't change on the quality or the use of the filter.

is this engine fitted with DPF?
Think all diesels nowadays come with DPF fitted
All Euro 5 diesels require the use of a DPF.
