I think it may have also been originally The Bishop's house when it was a church building a thing I notice about church buildings the kitchens and the bathrooms are really Plain but the cathedral or the chapel always spectacular

I was really lucky to go see Bad Religion there with a few buddies of mine in the early 90's. I was their biggest fan (well, up there near the top anyways) after being instantly hooked hearing their No Control album. Sported my WWII combat boots to the concert. Green Day opened and I stayed in the bar talking w buddies. One of my friends (a serious kicka$$ Salem, OR, skater, Jose Flores) loved their music, but GD wasn't a group I knew well. Us skaters and outsiders just wanting to see BR in person and have fun and we sure as hell did. Seriously, one of the best times of my life. First time I ever got into the pit and it probably showed, since I was bashing with all my might, doing my best to stay upright, getting hit hard, and then it was me giving back tenfold (lol)...then suddenly it was just me and empty space around me. I was like, wtf!?! 😁I definitely got Greg's attention at some point...eyeballs to eyeballs. Songs were all awesome, of course, and the best and highlight of the night was American Jesus. Got the whole place kickin'. Met a few great people that night--some of which I could have become good friends with...had one of my buddies not dragged me off to get a drink or smoke some weed. Even though I was newbie to the scene, I was surprised by all the other friendly young punks like me just there to have a blast w/BR. Greg Cleland...miss you bud. Know life's been tough after adulthood, but hope the rest is better and easier. To the people who helped me stay up in the pit until I found out how to steady my heavy booted feet and light body...thank you. And thanks a lot for the video!

So many memories going to so many shows at that place!! I went to Pine Street Theater so much. One of my favorite memories was seeing Candlebox here before they were big. I use to go see Everclear a bunch too!! Man, I miss concerts! Oh and my favorite band is Queensryche and Information Society.

Hell yeah man,I remember seeing the Vandales Christmas show there, and a bunch of punk shows there, I remember going to raves there as well, I had friends in a puck band called National Guard in the mid 90s they would open for a lot of bands, definitely a classic spot, I lived Downtown and would always walk home after shows crossing the Burnside bridge, you remember the 7th and market location? There’s an old man in Grays River WA about 2 hours from Portland who owned that at one point (the Pine Street Theatre days, I believe). He now owns Duffy’s Irish Pub on the highway there and within is a museum of pictures from when he owned the venue. I don’t think anybody knows about it and the diners don’t even know the history on the walls. Check it out on a drive to the coast, kids! I saw EVERYBODY there in the 90’s. Thanks for the video!!

Wow. In 1988 I moved to Portland and ended up joining a local punk band named “The Obituaries”. The band was well established and had opening acts like sound garden and nirvana. We all know where those band’s ended up. We shared the bill with “Mudhoney”, “Dead Moon” and the “Darma Bums”. Last show I played there we opened up for “Nick Cave”. Great memories from a time long ago. Thanks for posting

Last show I saw there was Elliot Smith. I realized I met him twice in my life. I was on a construction crew with him and was introduced to him by a chick at a bar on Hawthorne. Before he was famous. I'd also seen his band playing at EJ's , can't remember the name. I wrote this with cold chills shooting down my spine from opiate withdrawals in boulder Colorado. Cheers!

@@Whatsahandle4 thank you. Just be careful with Subs. I don't care how a person gets off opies, as long as their off them. My only thing with Subs is if you take them for a long time they can be hard to quit as well. And the withdrawals are worse than opiates from what have been told. But keep at it. The addiction is always in your head. But it is possible to control it instead of it controlling you. Recovery is possible. I go to NA and it helped save my life.

I'm from NE Oregon. Growing up I got introduced to all kinds of music. My oldest sister got me hooked on all the classic rock from the 60s and 70s. In the 80s I discovered heavy metal and thrash metal. Also in the mid 80s when I was 13 I had a teacher who was from Seattle. He got me listening to bands like Sound Garden, The Fastbacks and Green River. This was 87-88 so it as before all th grunge hype broke. Anyway I always wanted to go to concert. But there wasn't anything here really in NE OR. The town I lived in at the time had a population of 1400. Now I did get to go to some shows about 45 mins away in the early 90s. My first show was The Screaming Trees at a building at a fair grounds. Think this was 91 or 92, I was 16. Anyway, finally in April of 94 when I was 18 my best friend and I made the 3 hour drive to Portland with tickets in our hands for a gig at LaLuna. It was Nine Inch Nails with Type O Negative as the opener. We got to see them before Trent and his music got huge and popular after NIN's Woodstock performance. It was the first of so many trips to Portland and Seattle for club concerts. From 94-01 I saw many bands at LaLuna. Floater, Sweaty Nipples, Screaming Trees, Mud Honey, Built to Spill, The Black Crowes and others I have forgotten. I loved this place so much. The only place I loved more for going to concerts was the Satyricon. That place was absolutely the greatest dive to see bands of all time. But anyway. I'm 47 now and have lived all over Oregon and Washington. I've been to I don't know how many shows and seen hundreds of bands. Some bands I don't even remember seeing bcuz of booze and drugs. But that first show at LaLuna is still fresh in my head and one of the best shows I've ever seen. Miss that place and how Portland was back then. Thanks for the video...

@@KLEARSKITHEKREEPER right on. Rob is a very cool dude. Actually they all are cool. I haven't met their new drummer in person yet. Just chats on social media. But anyway we got back stage at Floater shows over the years. Or snuck is a better term for it. Haha But the New Years show Floater played at the Aladdin Theater for 2000-2001 we snuck back stage. We partied a bit and all that jazz. But I took a walk around the Aladdin by myself just to look around at what I could. I was numbed up on some things, so I didn't care if I got caught or not. But those old theaters are just amazing. I just love them. I'm still looking through your videos on your channel to see what you have done. But if you haven't yet, you should do the Aladdin. I haven't been there in years and honestly I don't know if it's even still there. I would think it's considered a Historic building. If you haven't maybe do a video on it or the Arelene Schnitzer Hall. Formerly known as the Paramount Theater of Portland. Just a couple of thoughts. But you could have already made these. You have quite of few videos to go through. Haha I'm saving the ones that catch my eye to watch later. And I've got through approx 300-400 videos. Looking forward to watching them.

Loved going to La Luna. I spent a lot of the 90's there. Saw a ton of bands in there. Katie at KNRK hooked us up with meet and greet passes for Soul Coughing, still have that signed poster somewhere. One random Tuesday night in '92 I saw The Cranberries, and Counting Crows opened for them. This was 3 months before Counting Crows debut album, and they blew the roof off the place, so much energy. Met Adam Duritz while roadies loaded them out, he was a sweaty mess side stage. He was kind and talked with us for a few minutes, he was super exited about the new album. 6 months later he was on the cover of Rolling Stone. And the Cranberries were fantastic in their own right, Delores was mesmorizing. I was down front and center 10' away for the whole show. Best $3 show ever. It was a special venue for sure.
