The torch history is because the 5 Central American countries Independence Day is same day Sept 15th, 1821), so the torch comes from Guatemala, pass through Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and ends in Costa Rica. Lovely to see how Canadians enjoy my country, I lived in Ontario for a while, stying English and loved Canada so much. Cheers!
Great life vlog Emma! Great footage you've captured for Independence Day in CR. I've always wondered how the celebrations go there. It's definitely a lot of people there but I don't see a lot of foreigners interestingly enough (maybe you've seen a few of them during your walks throughout the whole celebration?). Weather may have not worked out at the time either but it's still good to see a different side of CR that I haven't seen. Hope Luis had a good birthday as well and dang you're becoming a great home cook chef Emma! Looking forward to more videos ahead as always :) Timestamp comments:
0:54 - 1:00 Feliz cumple a Luis! Tenga un buen día y buena salud a él! It was also interesting that this whole month of September is full of independence days in Latin America. A Tico friend of mine said that after Costa Rica's Independence Day is Chile's, and then two days after Chile's is Mexico's! Nonetheless, I'm excited to see how celebrations are done in CR here, so looking forward to that part of this video later 1:24 - 1:26 I remember driving this part of CR and at the time there wasn't a lot of construction but now this time around... holy crap what a difference haha 6:41 - 6:43 Spanglish moment lol (also, hell yah! Ketchup flavor. That was something I loved about that chip flavor when have visited Toronto.) 10:50 - 10:52 I've seen that same bug before when I was at a national park here in the States but it was black and a bit wider. Haha! 12:27 - 12:29 I think you mean "The Olympic Torch Relay?" It's like people pass the torch to another person or something 14:47 - 14:55 That would be great; always good to see how much progress you have done! Also congrats on your 5 year anniversary living in CR. Hard to believe it's been that long too! 18:06 - 18:09 I mean with CR's independence day, it's no surprise there's some partygoers going at it all night long haha; I feel you though because sometimes we just want some sleep! 21:35 - 21:51 Quite a lot of people! And I love the vibrant colors of the performance stage too! Imagine if there was sun and blue skies, it would be a lot amazing 23:47 - 23:50 Haha, love those random moments during a huge celebration. That little Tico is going to grow up as one of the best mimes in CR someday! Haha, it's also good to see the two girls on the left having a good laugh at him 27:10 - 27:17 I think it's good to at least go out and celebrate to commemorate a big holiday like CR's Independence Day because from the footage you've shown, it definitely is a vibe out there! 28:36 - 28:39 Emma cooking up a pizzeria in the house!! 30:57 - 30:59 Emma contemplating for 2 seconds... is she gonna open a pizzeria or what? Lol
Thanks so much for enjoying Tony! Funny enough - there weren't many foreigners there, and one guy came up to me asking for my name etc, and I was like... this is kinda weird - and then he said: I only ask because you're like the only foreigner I see here! Haha. Thanks for the happy birthday wishes for Luis - (he says muchas gracias 😎 haha) That bridge on the way to San Jose is getting bigger and bigger by the day, its wild! it will be so weird when it is finally ready for use! Also, I am still contemplating that pizzeria 😝 Thanks so much Tony for your support, always!
I would say any of the excursions you would like to do - just in the mornings! The catamarans that are going out are still seeing Humpback whales, this is pretty cool. Another activity I would recommend is the full day waterfall tour with Paddle9, you get to see a variety of waterfalls all in one day, it's fun!
Hi Emma thanks for another fun interesting video. Glad Luis enjoyed a very nice birthday thanks to you too. So Mama Sue lives in Costa Rica now too ? When did this happen ? Do you still see your friend Sara the friend of yours you made a few videos with ? Be nice to see Luis in your videos too. Surprised her didn`t appear on his birthday enjoying all the food you made him. Anyway thanks again and always looking forward to new videos you make for us .
Thanks so much Lindsay! Mama Sue is pretty much living here full time now, yes! This is fairly recent, but we live further a part now so we don't see each other quite as often as before! I see Sarah occasionally, it has been a while though! Perhaps eventually we will get back together on the big screen if we can coordinate a day! Luis is not really a big camera guy - he's slowly getting less "camera shy" but maybe one day!!!
