Shaver Lake - Big Late Season Kokanee Salmon - Sept. 2022

Shaver Lake was special this year with big Kokanee Salmon topping the 20 Inch class and nearing 3lbs. These were the biggest Kokanee Shaver has seen in over 20 years. Fishing pressure was non-existent after the derby on September 10th when we were all competing for the big ones.The fish were in late season mode with kype'd jaws, full colors and hugging the bottom from 80-110 feet. Surprisingly the meat on most all of these fish was still decent and perfect to load up a smoker to end the season.

looks fun. would like to try there but never been. any recommendations on where i can launch my boat ? any public launch?

Shaver is a fun lake. There are two ramps, Sierra Marina at the North end, next to road or you can launch inside of the Camp Edison Campground that also has a marina but the launch there has no dock.
