      Never. Disney is replacing their target market from w families to b families. Tiana just recolonized the land. They'll likely recreate Atlanta and make a MLK tribute inside. Maybe George Floyd too.

      At the Magic Kingdom they plan to turn "problematic frontierland" into a slave trading port city to compliment the new woke mountain splash ride. It ironic that they had to kill the single most popular ride on the planet "Splash Mountain" because of problematic ties to slavery in the Song of the South story, yet they jump from the frying pan to the fire and make the entire land a slave trading city. The city was built by slaves but to its credit, 1/3 of the slaves in New Orleans were owned by other black people.

    Fun Fact: The singer of "Bear Necessities" in the new Country Bear show is Mac McAnally, a longtime Nashville performer and a member of the late Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefers Band (I recognized him in the D23 video they showed announcing the change). :)

    I know that the themes of Frontierland have become less resonant over time, but I would be very disappointed to lose the river and Tom Sawyer island. There are so few places left in the Magic Kingdom to retain that quaint vintage feel.. between the low-tech "Mystery Spot" effects and the charming riverside scenery..
    Not to mention so few places left in the park where you can sit for a while and not feel like you're about to be trampled.

    Like you said, there’s been changes to the Country Bears in the past, but most of this occurred before social media - so there wasn’t really a platform for a buzz or outcry of complaints, people just accepted it, like - “oh great look a new show”, they either liked it, or they didn’t, and they moved on. Imagine that. Doesn’t mean they were good changes (speaking of all attractions) - they just were changes and updates that are usually just part of the ebb and flow of theme parks.

    I’m completely fed up with Disney teasing new projects like “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain” to get short term media buzz. In reality, they’ve squandered and betrayed the good will of their loyal fans with false promises and big ideas that seldom come to pass. Disney needs to show some good faith by actually announcing projects, funding them, and getting them built in a reasonable period of time. All the rest is noise and manipulation. Enough already!

    I find that the problem is that they should have re-themed our Splash Mountain to something different (even though I didn’t want it re-themed to begin with, but be that as it may…) as Tiana’s Bayou was never going to fit right in the middle of Frontierland. It fits in Disneyland because of how that area is themed already. This is something I said from the very beginning and it’s really sad that they stuck the bayou in the middle of the Wild West.

    For the Bears I think most of the hate is due to the fact that people are sick of Disney doing IP related things. I'm glad the Bears get to stay, but for me, it's the fact that instead of making entirely new original songs, they're just going to use Disney songs instead. I'm guessing that's the reason for the fire, but in my case, I kind of just accept this as fate. However, I think I'd be more excited about this 20 years ago, before Disney's obsession with making everything have a Disney IP tie-in and therefore burning me out. I love covers, especially when usually people take a song and change the genre and this show will definitely have that. However, I miss going to an original Disney attractions without IP related stuff. Don't hate it, just disappointed. I'm sure I'll enjoy it, but at the same time, so tired of Disney IP related stuff. Kinda a weird one to miss, but I'm going to miss Blood on the Saddle.

    • @jCo1
      @jCo1 9 місяців тому +10

      Well that is a marketing term. A great example to counter your point; Publix is "employee-owned" but you would never know it. So pointing out that Disney isnt employee-owned, wouldn't make a difference in operations, the same way it doesnt make a difference in Publix's operations. I think you might have the fantasy that cashiers and cooks would be sitting in the board room making decisions in an "employee-owned" business.
      By the way did I say this is a fantasy itself? Lol Maybe you are confusing the definition of "employee-owned" with a family company, the same way Walmart is a family company. Family members own shares, but not necessarily making board room decisions.

    In theory, yes, Country Bears have had updates before and it's always come back to the classic show so whatever. So did the Tiki Room. But in practice, I don't trust this generation of Imagineers to make a show as good as the original or the vacation hoedown. And the fact that it's just going to be self-referential pop-country doesn't bode well either... It's going to take out two of the three things that made the show good to begin with: the humour and the real music. All that'll be left are the animatronics. But it's par for the course with Disney taking out or vandalizing everything I liked. Speaking of which... Actually, WDW has an awesome Tom Sawyer Island that's actually something like what the original at Disneyland used to be. I guess I'll need to go to Japan, a more enlightened society, for Splash Mountain and Tom Sawyer Island. That's alright, it's cheaper than WDW anyway.

And as much as I loathe that the new music is rehashed songs from Disney IP, I thank God that Disney kept the iconic Country Bears instead of replacing them with *YET ANOTHER* movie-origin IP like Woody’s Roundup.
    I would’ve gladly sacrificed that to keep Splash mountain, though.

If you know the history of Frontierland at Disneyland those buildings between Riverbelle Terrace and the Stage Door Cafe use to be called the New Orleans area, and where New Orleans Square in was once part of Frontierland. There are too many clues pointing to the "Beyond" in Beyond Frontierland referring to the area on the other side of Big Thunder. The famous rock spire is in the foreground of the concept art. The concept art pathway is suspiciously L-shaped, just like the shape of the Fort Langhorn part of Tom Sawyer Island (which is actually two islands). And there's weird digging going on adjacent to the Rivers that might suggest a rerouting, which would make sense as Tom Sawyer Island North is not a very large piece of land and lengthening the route could keep ride buildings hidden from view.
    As for what those ride buildings could be... who knows? Especially with Encanto off the table (which was a weird fit anyhow). I don't think a Villains "land" was ever actually a thing, especially with nebulous concept art and where it's supposed to be going, but now I wonder if it'll have to replace the Madrigals. The best fit would be Cars Land, but they are not going to build Cars Land back here, at least not in its current iteration. Maybe Route 66, maybe with the flat rides and the Cadillac range. But they wouldn't do Radiator Springs Racers after just adding Tron. (Plus, it's a space hog.) Personally, I'd move the Speedway over here, adding Cars cars. Coco, which WILL happen somewhere, does have the Mexico pavilion as an alternative. And, some say, Animal Kingdom. But if they try to shove it into a "Tropical Americas" theme, I will DESTROY them.

    I sometimes feel that Iger is thinking that Frontierland is nothing but a legend, meaning pretty soon, no one will ever believe it even existed. I can imagine what he's gonna say soon:
    "One day soon, everything about the old west in Frontierland is gonna fade into myth. There's just no place for it anymore! Look at us now! We are completely civilized. That's all the future holds. You can either be a part of it, or you can just be left behind."

    Sad to see the bears go, in the sense it’ll be IP music instead of original country tunes. Glad I got to see it one last time on a trip with my family last summer , there was a group of college kids in the front all on vacation. Clearly none of knew what they were in for- the one on the ends face lights up, turns to his buddies grinning, clapping, stomping (at appropriate parts) even doing the phone flashlight bit (off but mimicking) absolutely lost it watching the kid but it’s a great memory, probably for him too lol.
    I’m glad they get to stay in some capacity. Really hope big Al stays the same 1.) because it’s the best part 2.) because it’d be incredibly funny if he never changes his act

    if disney decides to pave in the river to expand frontierland, i have an idea that could connect everything. Take the scenes and ideas from western river expedition and instead of it being a boat ride, you bring back the critter country 500 idea. this way you have the country bears as a prominent ip in the land, you have some type of western river expedition, it’s all still frontierland, and there’s not three boat rides back to back. they could really do something unique with this ride. i’m thinking something like gringotts but with the new donkey kong type of jumping over track. it wouldn’t be a full on coaster, but it would also be a nice classic feeling dark ride that that corner of the park could use! They could call it the Country Bears’ Western Expedition

    • @logini18
      @logini18 9 місяців тому

      by doing this, they get to reuse a lot of the new molds from the new country bears animatronics they’re building. if they build a western river expedition looking mountain facade then they can add a lot of winding trails and caverns so that the fans of toms sawyers island will be happy, and a modern MK attraction can have a both classic and fresh feel

    With several Major E Ticket Attractions closed for much of 2024 I feel contributes to the reason for Disneyland releasing additional Magic Key sales today. As the Haunted Mansion is down for up to 7 months and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’s questionable late 2024 opening, single and multi-day tickets are less desirable especially considering the cost/dynamic pricing.
