This film is very interesting, I have passed the DSC1 and need to progress. There are not many intermediate course’s being done by BASC or anyone else in my area ( on the coast in East Sussex). Thank you for a very informative video. Stu
Brilliant information in this video about all the nodes and what to check for but as for the gralloch I feel this is alright if you have loads of time, but on a management job you’d never have that time to spend on one deer, as well as that doing it this way would be fairly difficult for less experienced hunters which I think would result in more mess. Good watch though and sure it will be very Informative to many viewers in different ways
Hi, Martin says "it’s a Thule canoe ratchet strap with an additional pulley incorporated to make the lifting easier. There are cheaper versions out there but it's light and robust." (www.truckman.co.uk/thule-quickdraw-canoe-securing-straps-ra838?)
Hi Ian, thanks for your comment - the sprayer in the film is a Karcher mobile cleaner OC3 - www.kaercher.com/uk/home-garden/mobile-cleaning.html - others are available of course! This one was bought from Halfords. Hope that helps.
Quick question: Why drag a Roe deer when it is easier and more hygienic to tie the legs together and just carry on the shoulder? done it many times in clear fell and much cleaner AND safer....
I don’t think there is such a thing as a Roe follower. It’s a not a follower, it’s a kid, “follower” suggests it has a choice. A follower is definitely a term for herding species.
Hi @@maxwellporter2961 and @marks1014 , the term follower is a widely used term for juvenile deer that are no longer dependent of the mother. With roe, “kid” tends to refer to dependent young whereas follower can be used to describe older offspring of the doe, usually up to a year old. These can also be called yearlings.
Great video that helped massively in preparation for my DSC2. Thank you BASC for taking the effort to make it.
Thank you, I've recently passed my DSC 1 and will hopefully soon be looking to learn before applying for my DSC 2 course 🙏
Really good, informative film. Thanks BASC.
What's a great video, very clear and a helpful resource to refer back to

What deer tray is that in use?
Could you provide the details of the pulley block used? Thank you

Can I ask about the water spray you used and where I can get one?

So , who eats the Deer ?
What is a roe follower please?
Hi, a follower is a kid, ie. under 1 year old. We made this film in March and so at that time of year you would expect it to be around 10 months old.

Well done but you gentlemen never deal with the moose shot close to the swamp 😉
Or in one!
This fella knows what he's doing! Not sure off the gloves though! Alot off skinning and grallocking etc is by feel!
Love the content but if I went through this much to field dress a whitetail my mates would be so far up my arse I wouldn’t be able to breathe
You say that you don't open up the chest cavity at the beginning then bang there at the end of the film the whole chest cavity is open up🥱🥱🤷
