Thanks Karthik. When you are looking at the momentum on a yearly or quarterly basis why do you need to have all the daily opening and closing prices of the entire universe of stocks? Shouldn't monthly open and close be enough for making a portfolio based on monthly momentum?
Can someone explain what is the relationship between Step 3 and Step 4. How is calculating daily returns in Step 3 8:00 used in the construction of the portfolio?
Suppose your universe is Nifty50 and u r building a momentum portfolio of 10 stocks. Then you will sort these N50 stocks based on their 1yr return in descending order. Once this sorting is done you invest in Top 10 stocks.
