The video lesson you shared was comprehensive, and thanks to the diorama of the boat and sea, I was able to grasp why the rudder was positioned to port while the wind was coming from the starboard side. My perception is that if there’s a wind or swell in the starboard side, the ship bow will travel in port side, and it will start to go with the flow of the swell, so that you need to counter-steer the boat starboard to maintain the heading. But knowing the concept of the boat’s pivot point and the influence of weather factors, my perception was corrected. Additionally, I’ve come to realize how important the autopilot system is for steering the boat. It eases the crew’s workload and helps avoid errors in steering. In the next video, I suggest creating contents about how to use ARPA, and ECDIS po in route planning and weather avoidance. Continue doing this kinds of contents po. The weather factor adds complexity, as wind, current, and visibility can affect a ship's course and safety, and also highlighting practical insights that are vital for safe and effective vessel operation under challenging conditions.
The video lesson you shared was comprehensive, and thanks to the diorama of the boat and sea, I was able to grasp why the rudder was positioned to port while the wind was coming from the starboard side. My perception is that if there’s a wind or swell in the starboard side, the ship bow will travel in port side, and it will start to go with the flow of the swell, so that you need to counter-steer the boat starboard to maintain the heading. But knowing the concept of the boat’s pivot point and the influence of weather factors, my perception was corrected.
Additionally, I’ve come to realize how important the autopilot system is for steering the boat. It eases the crew’s workload and helps avoid errors in steering.
In the next video, I suggest creating contents about how to use ARPA, and ECDIS po in route planning and weather avoidance.
Continue doing this kinds of contents po. It’s helpful for us marine students, to gain more knowledge.
