I've recently discovered the Roguetech mod, and I've been watching your videos a ton. You've been really helpful to me in gaining a better understanding of this huge mod. Thanks for all your work, keep it up!
Yeah, as per lore the SLDF (which later became comstar) fielded 6 mech units in part because they just had significantly more than the great houses. The SLDF split into the clans and comstar with the exodus and the clans adopted 5 unit stars due to having fewer mechs. Word of Blake later split off from (then were eventually recombined with) comstar and maintained the 6 mech units.
@@TooTechnicalDev it was just what i expected in the sense that yes, clan tech is indeed great, and yes, major houses of course have the next best tech. Xd
Ah, then yes. It is exactly what it says on the tin. You may be surprised by how many people use the Roguetech mod without knowing much about the lore. Have a blast and may your milk runs never be sour.
You said Smoke Jaguar is the r&d clan? The Jags are the harshest clan to their civilian castes and almost all of their tech gains were made by taking them from others.
Good job ... such "general guidelines" are a boon for newbies. I suspect the "all the salvage" factions are also the ones you can describe as "harder than their skull rating" and the "CBill" factions are easier?
I´d like to dispute on the local government ranking. They, consistently, field a loot pinjata. It´s not so much about the chassis, but supreme tier equipment. Stealth, superchargers, some lostech and ever so often even oddity weapons.
And occasionally they've gotten their hands on a full clan omni somehow. That actually goes for every faction. RNG is crazy, but the video was for consistency. If you don't ever want to see a loot pinata and regret going CBills feel free to just always go salvage, but the majority of the time I stand by my ratings.
Since all the Inner Sphere houses are based on modern real world cultures it would depend on which of the great houses you were talking about. If you're asking about the clans it would probably be Alexander Kerensky, since they've pretty much deified him... In the periphery who knows what sort of belief systems have developed out in the darker outskirts of humanity, but we do know that they don't appreciate being told how to live, so there are unlikely to be any large organized or standardized religions.
@@TooTechnicalDevimgine my shock when I found out how the deep the lore is actually is, my only experience being the animated series and mechcommander. Where do you even start? For all we know there is back water system where the not to be named clan is engineering cat girl elementals and and building l.a.m urban mechs powered by war crimes.
Sarna.net is the go to source for all battletech lore. There are also novels, Pen & Paper RPGs/Tabletop games with heavy lore in the sourcebooks, and the Black Pants Legion youtube channel has several good lore videos.
General question. The contract list sometimes has options that I cannot click. Is there a remedy for that? My faction rep is sufficient to do the contract.
Do you mean you click on the list and it doesn't let you see the salvage/cbill sliders for it or you see the sliders and can't click to go to mech selection? I know there's a bug that sometimes happens when missions are populated in the list where trying to click them continues showing the sliders for the last mission you were looking at. It seemed to start happening around when Solaris was added to Roguetech. I have only encountered it after buying the solaris participation. Passing on solaris every time it comes up seems to prevent it. If you can set the sliders but can't start the mission then I have never run into that issue. Either way if it's only happening occasionally I would file that under "annoying but no big deal"... If it's happening often maybe pop over to the Roguetech Discord and start a ticket?
Only problem is while yes generally throughout all the updates so far this is only really valid for a few more weeks when season 2starts and after that the hand held rework not to far down the road other than that 10/10
@@TooTechnicalDev Maybe adjust the title for this and include the current patch version? That way you can keep this up as a reference without confusing people who look for a list in a year or two ... if you "have to" make a new one ... and save some work (if there are only minor changes).
The overarching concepts are largely relevant to the entire Battletech universe, including the old pen & paper games, but any details I may offer are potentially slightly outdated. I haven't launched Roguetech since recording the last video I uploaded on it last year.

My pleasure. If you have any specific questions as you get the hang of Roguetech drop a comment on one of my videos and I'll be happy to help.
That explains the 6 units in Wob and Comstar. Thank you for the information and awesome video!

Great list....and I learned a few things about the different factions. Have you thought about doing a video breaking down the different factions?
Wow, I'm not sure what I was expecting, but what I got was exactly what I expected.
Happy I could help and/or I'm sorry, depending on whether or not you liked what you got. XD

Excellent break-down. Well done!
Thank you. Hope it was helpful.
You said Smoke Jaguar is the r&d clan? The Jags are the harshest clan to their civilian castes and almost all of their tech gains were made by taking them from others.
My memory tends to be spotty at best. XD
Clan Smoke Jaguar is the dead clan. :^)
Depends on the timeline XD
I experience something like this when fought Steel Viper and one of their support lance is primitive mech.
RNG is the biggest factor. Hopefully the rest of the salvage was good.

UA-cam generated subtitles are funny as hell here "Russel Hog Republic", Magistracy of Cannabis" or "Compelling Confederation" ftw
I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad, UA-cam algorithms are the worst we've ever had. XD
Well thought out break down, load the guns and bless the ammunition- don't forget your sacrifice to the RNG gods.
That is a question I had (as an uninitiated one into Battletech lore): *What is the name of the RNG god in the Battletech universe?*

If the factions change considerably I'll just make a new one. XD

Sounds like a good idea.
So is this still relevant for the mod today?

Completed my Steiner Scout Lance in Lyran space. Your teir list is invalid. Lol 😆
Lol. Steiner was rated highly. Sounds more like an endorsement than an invalidation
@@TooTechnicalDev maybe I should of said: no longer needed.
