Mitarai became a character so close to me, I mean, his personality itself really resembles mine too, so I was the only one to be very emotional during his dramatic speech about forcing hope on the world while constantly repenting for causing all the despair?
His character is very brilliantly thought, his childhood trauma causes him to be an animator, to bring hope to the world, but that suddenly changes when he meet junko, he thought that she helping him, but then realised he is just a tool to spread despair, he get betrayed, but he also blame himself for what have he done, from his perspective of view, he's the mastermind, the true killer who destroy the world, when he realised that he is the true hope, he instead began with despair, a desperation to give the world hope by actually forcing it, no wars, no more trauma, no more..... hope to actually live on a boring world, hope and despair are actually a balance of society, too much on one side and the society tip over and broke
Both I think. This also plays at the end of the Despair Arc when Junko and Yukizome are wrapping up her flashback and Yukizome suddenly contradicts Junko and talks about the possibility of Hope.
