WOW fantastic parade! some history there of Irish new yorkers! lots stayed in Liverpool England when they ran out of money at Liverpool docks and could not carry on to the states,that's why Liverpool is the most catholic/irish city in the UK
You will always see nypd's finest with their own flag which is green white stripes with green stripes blue with white stars it's been around for more than 100 years also the American flag and the Irish flag from Ireland a real American tradition I always admired them watching them on St Patrick's day or other days at an inspectors funeral marching and playing bagpipes and drums just amazing not that easy to play it took me more than 2 years to learn how and you're always practicing I give them five stars ⭐❤️🍀🇨🇮💯

You've obviously never heard Killaloe, Highland Cathedral or the Irish Mollyo (The Sash) on the pipes. Brian Boru pipes of course, not highland ones. Are they really trying to be Irish? They'd need to do their research on dress etc.
Very disappointed with the representatives of a supposedly apolitical police force openly playing music which glorifies the would be murderer of peace keeping colleagues in another constitutional democracy. I am referring to Sean South who attacked the police station in Brookeborough, Co. Fermanagh. South was mortally wounded in the attack and was left to die in a damp, dingy barn by his "brave" comrades. These cowards then fled to their sanctuary across the border. Is it acceptable then to musically honour the dead terrorists who perpetrated the dreadful atrocity which has become known as 9/11? An interesting parallel.

As an indigenous Irishman I could not celebrate Saint Patrick in this scenario. Saint Patrick was a Christian missionary not a militant Irish Republican apologist. Unfortunately that is what the NY fiasco has turned into through ignorance and a biased romanticised view of Ireland. Where is Patrick's red saltire? All I see is the modern tricolour, absolutely nothing to do with the saint, in fact it's a flag he wouldn't recognise. I see nothing Irish reflected in the dress of the participants which is (roughly) Scottish. As an Irish protestant who is passionate about his roots, nothing here reflects my cultural background.
Many Irish Americans are more about celebrating Ireland than really celebrating Irish history. This can be reflected on St. Patrick's day, when Americans rather celebrate and have parties than really dive into Saint Patrick and explore their roots. However, you can look at the bright side.
