- Michael and Crystal Guzman dancing the West Coast Swing, unchoreographed and on the fly, at their 2009 Wedding
West Coast Swing (WCS) is characterized by a distinctive smooth elastic look that results from its basic extension-compression technique of partner connection. WCS is in large part defined by an emphasis on musicality and partner connection. The dance allows for both partners to improvise steps while dancing together, putting WCS in a short list of dances that put a premium on improvisation. It is danced primarily in a slotted area on the dance floor. The slot is an imaginary area, long and thin, eight or nine feet long. WCS may be danced to almost any music in 4/4 time, and music of many different genres may be found in an evening of West Coast Swing dancing.

Howdy @itstmm , Thanks for watching! Hope you liked it. It was our wedding reception. She danced in slacks and her wedding top (bustier), since dancing in a dress is not the best suited for dancing the West Coast Swing. And what was fun about this dance like all dances we dance, it was inprovised; no routine.......so you are correct...lot of lessons over the years!

This was not our "official" wedding dance and song.......just a song we enjoy dancing west coast swing to and someone happend to record us while we danced. Yup, the song is slightly off on the video. We had to fit the actual video together with the audio soundtrack because it was hard to hear the song on the actual video with guests talking in the background.

hello again, i've been sitting here thinking about you two, for whatever reason you have touched my heart. if i may i'd like to giv you a bit of advice. you see many many years ago my hubby and i were just like you. newly weds, happy with our lives, thinking we had all the time in the world ahead of us to travel, enjoy life, enjoy each other. we were wrong. he has early onset alzheimers, very early onset we are only in our early 50's. sounds old to you i'm sure but it isn't.

a lot of dance lessons~but i'm confused~was this actually at the wedding reception? and if so what was the deal with her in dark trousers? if it was a rehearsal then what was the deal with him all dressed up and her wearing a wedding dress bustier top?
