Great video, I really enjoyed it. Surprising it didn’t seemed like a 45 minute video. It felt more like a 15 minute video which showed it was well done, entertaining and left me wanting more. I can’t wait to see the rest in the series. I know a bit of the lore behind Golden Girl, but I want to learn more.
Thanks, I really wanted to make a series for GG fans because there is definitely not enough information out there! I just put out Part Two on the Golden Girl fashions a couple of days ago, and there are going to be a few more GG videos coming!
@@janessajayechampagne I'm about to watch Part 2 and subscribed halfway through Part 1. Looking forward to more! Seriously, though, drag, horror, and vintage toys... you're speaking to my soul.
I'm a man and I've never really done dolls but I actually have a bit of a soft spot for the Golden Girl dolls. They just have really cool character designs. Definitely more warrioresqe than She-Ra. Looking forward to part 2.
@tonytee5435 Thanks! ❤️ I've got three more Golden Girl videos on my channel in you're interested - one on the fashions, one on the related merch, and one unboxing the Palace of Gems!
Janessa, you might know this already , when the movie Secret of the Sword was coming out, the girls group at Mattel came over to the Masters of the Universe section and stole She Ra and made her into a doll line, instead of her characters being action figures to compliment the Masters Line and her figures were moved to the girls aisle near the barbie dolls so motu collectors never saw them
Am a huge Golden Girls fan myself and have pretty much everything that came out. Unfortunately, the tents never came on the market.:0(( The strange thing is that fashions were never made for the two male warriors.
I was obsessed with Golden Girl back in the day. I had Golden Girl and all her friends plus Dragon Queen and all her friends. I don't remember the boy dolls at all, maybe because I was 8 and boys still have cooties at that age. (It's kinda weird that Ogra looks like a guy I once dated but I digress... 😉) I also had Olympia and the chariot but I never got Dragon Queen's horse and chariot. I think I got the Golden Girl castle for Christmas or a birthday. I also ended up buying a She-Ra doll but she just wasn't as cool and creative as Golden Girl and the gang. The gemstone theme was awesome and I remember wearing the shields on my clothes to school. Moth Lady was actually my fave because my birthstone is amethyst and she had wings. (I pulled them out one time and they never quite fit back in! 🤣) I even had a Golden Girl kite that broke off the string on a particularly windy day and flew into the woods. I never found it and I was devastated. 😭I love seeing a fabulous Gen X drag queen taking me on a trip down memory lane here. Thanks, girl! ❤
@thatvikingtemper Thanks for watching! I love this toy line and I am glad that other people are enjoying this as well! For so long, I would describe this line to other people and they had no idea what it was, so I'm happy to finally find my people! Lol
Hello, thanks for watching! As these are all vintage figures, you would have to look for them from resellers. I've sourced most of my collection from Ebay US, but the figures were also very popular in Europe, so I would suggest checking those as well, and looking for sellers that ship to Pakistan. Good luck and welcome to the hobby!
I am collecting since 1986 the Masters of the Universe later in 1987 also the Princess of Power line. The Princess of Power dolls looks better to me...
@@fatihuludag the Princess of Power line is good, and I have collected a fair number of those. They are definitely more frilly and girly than the GG line.
Another reason for the lack of success of the line may be parental disapproval! They were far too extreme and edgy for my Mum, who refused to let me have them.
That's a great point! The She-Ra line was very frilly and soft and that was very in line with "girls toys" in the 80s. They didn't know what to do with these badass heavy metal ladies! Lol
@@janessajayechampagne I really think there's a Frank Frazetta influence going on with these girls too (he even created a painting called 'Golden Girl' in 1977) and the film 'Conan the Barbarian', the camo make-up in that film must have been an influence on Wild One's look. Chris Achilléos' work was probably another influence.

Thanks for making this video! There's far too little information out there about Golden Girl and this covered it really well.

Great video! Glad to see another video for Golden Girl. Thank you for the shout out! My wife will love this video.

@futuramayeah Interesting - I hadn't heard that! Definitely.would explain why the She-Ra line was so different than MOTU.

It's such a shame that the line didn't last longer - there was so much good stuff planned!

Great video and beautiful make up! 🎉💜🧸
Thanks friend!
I loved Golden Girl, Vultura was my favorite and I played with her until she fell apart!
She was one of my faves too! Probably second behind Wild One, but they were very close! I love her wild hair and that talon arm piece!
Awesome vid i have all of them also in the boxes i also have shera and jem and the holograms
At some point I'll get around to my She-ra and Jem collections as well. The 80s had the best toys! ❤️
@@janessajayechampagne fosho!!
Golden Girl's villains were so much better than anything around
@@TheAoide82 Definitely! The designs were next level!

Thanks for dropping in to watch!
I had Golden girl dolls, I loved them but their legs would break off after I just got them!!!
@@journeybymoonlight3216 Yeah, the leg joints were notorious for breaking 😞 such a disappointment as a kid to have something break right away

🧐 you know this Troll was raised in a cave. I don't remember knowing about these 🫣😶🌫️
They were a sort of "blink and you miss it" line - a lot of people have never heard of it! I'm hoping to correct that! Lol
