Your outside vacuum should be the old helix. Anyways the compact handles are supposed to be like that as I've had two which I both got brand new. They're just cheap. Anyways sweet finds!
Weirdly I still own a bissel momentum and it still has all of the attachments since we got that vacuum when it was still being sold. That pet hair eraser sounds like something is wrong with the motor. Should not sound like that at all. May be the bearings going out. The momentum’s never came with a brushroll shut off but for their size they are great vacuum's. Mine however needs a new power cord though since it’s been getting chewed up by the brushroll. Ours is at least 10 + years old and has not had a service exept multiple replacements of the filters over the years and changing of the belts otherwise it’s still working like it’s brand new. Should take its apart though and give it a full cleaning it deserves now.
Those Pet Hair Eraser models were essentially the Momentum with that pet hair thing on the brush housing and a dual cyclone instead of that bizarre single cyclone. I have had both of them. The dual cyclone is the reason the Pet Hair Eraser version has that distinct whistle to it. Oddly enough for a Bissell, the cyclones on both machines seemed to be quite effective from what I could tell. Your Pet Hair Eraser has at least one dry bearing and probably plenty of dirt in the fan. It is also missing the angled arm that went on the end of the hose. I have always thought that those Hoover machines were decent compared to the competition. I have never had that model, but I have had a few similar ones and I have found no reason to complain for how fair the asking prices are for them.
I have one that is also missing the arm on the hose. Got mine at a DAV store for about $25, it's a 2010 model with all of the attachments except the extension wand and crevice tool, and the motor's still good in it.

My grandma had a older navigator that was not a lift-away and I was vacuuming and something got into the motor and it sounded HORRIBLE and It smelt horrible where that felt filter on the bottom smelt like burning and that was the end of it 😢

@@IntellitechStudios I want a shark zero m navigator lift away. Too bad it isn’t powered like an apex duo clean. I think sharks lift away feature is automatically better than dyson’s big fat balls vacuums which can’t clean under beds .
