I love this video. the singers are great, but what really sells it is the conductor. She just really got into it and looks like she's having a blast. :D
Waow ! Such a good surprise to hear this version, we've been singing it in a very solemn way, didn't know it could swing that much. I'm going to share with my fellows, here in Lavaur's music school, South of France. Thanks a lot !
I'm from California, and I've come to love this song so much that now I feel a strong desire to visit Struga! It touched me too! I'll look you up when I visit, Goce. Look around on youtube. There are many versions of this song and all that I've heard are stellar.
What a shame people had to be rude, rather than just thanking the performers. I learned this song recently and came to see how it sounded and found a surprising discussion.

Hate to say it to you guys, because I have so many macedonian friends and we never had any conflicts on this subject, but this is a bulgarian song from the macedonian region. This is an arrangement from the bulgarian composer Petko Staynov (1896-1977). The town Struga was a Bulgarian town, but now is in Nord Macedonia. I see all the angry macedonian comments here, claiming that this is no bulgarian song, but I could not find any macedonian performances of this song in UA-cam. Perhaps there are some, but I see lots of bulgarian, some american and some west-european perfomances (like this one). Why don't you sing it guys and prove me wrong? Every bulgarian knows this song and listening to it, makes me proud to be a bulgarian. It should make you also proud macedonians, but just skip all the nonsense and the hate. We love you anyway!
Nationalism is healthy, but irredentism is not. :) Even if Staynov did the arrangement, that doesn't make it a Bulgarian song. Macedonians, as much as Bulgarians identify with this song: just type Na Struga dukan/ducan da imam
@@tm-xd8qo Once, when the song was made, we were one people, one country. Before the brainwashing, back then many bulgarians were born in Struga, but later went to live in Sofia, because it was the capitol city. I just want to say, some will call it macedonian song, I may call it bulgarian-macedonian (or macedonian bulgarian), but no matter, we all have to agree, it is a very beautiful one. In any case, this song means a lot to the bulgarians.

В 1591 година венецианският посланик Лоренцо Бернардо пише: „Струга, град в България на границата с Албания...
