Which of these former Super Bowl stadiums was your favorite?
None. American stadiums are ugly. And the NFL is boring and can barely be called a sport.
Orange Bowl.
The Murph (Jack Murphy San Diego) was the best one, great stadium. The Orange Bowl and Tulane Stadium were pretty cool too.
I always liked the look of Tampa Stadium.
Stanford, for a few sentimental reasons. One, my favorite team won. Two, my parents were at that game and my mom was pregnant with me. Three, I went to the last game played there before they tore it down
The Georgia Dome getting closed and destroyed after 25 years is peak financial bubble. Stadiums like The Big Sombrero in Tampa or the Silverdome in Detroit were getting long in the tooth for sure, but the Georgia Dome was a good stadium. What a waste of resources and terrible planning.
Oakland would've killed to get a Georgia Dome in their city even in 2017
@@iancypes5911 Good point! Obviously nowadays it isn't the best but it was pretty good.
You're not wrong, the Georgia Dome was only 25 years old and had another 5 or more years to expand its lifespan, with renovations getting done by then or getting a new stadium built down the line. Though, the current Mercedes-Benz Stadium could have been built this decade and be home of the Falcons and Atlanta United teams occurring their new home and hosting other events.
There was nothing wrong with the Dome!
@@boogitybear2283 Two worst cases of this happened in Atlanta, Turner Field was also barely twenty years old when they moved out of it. I actually know for a fact nothing was wrong with it. I was there in 2009. Seems like an Atlanta problem.
Super Bowl 9 was played in Tulane Stadium only because The Superdome was behind on construction and could not host the game.
That is correct! 👍
Stanford Stadium is actually in Palo Alto, Ca. not San Francisco, but it isn’t far from San Francisco.
Tampa Stadium was a cauldron on hot days, but there wasn’t a bad seat in the house.
RIP Jack Murphy/The Q.
I went to the last Chargers & Padres games there. Still have my moments from those games.
Jack Murphy stadium was called The Murph. Also R.I.P. to Tampa Stadium aka the big Sombrero.
I heard rumors in 2020 about the Padres playing one final game at then called SDCCU Stadium the day before it was due for demolition but covid hit prompting it to close down for good sooner than originally planned.
The Viking lost 4 Super Bowls before the Bills. They just didn't lose 4 in a row.
14:30 The game at Minneaolis was in 1992, not 1989 (as a sidenote, Washington were honoring Lions guard Mike Utley, who had been paralyzed earlier that season. Utley gave a "thumbs up" as he was wheeled off of the Silverdome field, which was why the Redskins' players were doing the gesture seen here).
You Sir are CORRECT!!!👍👍👍👍
And the Lions played the Redskins in the NFC Championship Game that season.
Yes this guy's research has a lot of small errors.
Miss Tulane Stadium ⚜️
Can we double-check Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto? The venue did host only one Super Bowl (16 [XVI], the only appearance of Dan Marino's legendary career), and I believe that, while the stadium did have some renovations over the years, is still standing.
The original Stadium was completely demolished and replaced by a new Stadium with the same name.
Super Bowl XVI was played at the Pontiac Silverdome in January 1982.
The game between San Fran and Miami was XIX
Super Bowl 19
Thanks for digging into the history of the Orange Bowl!
my favorite memory old stadium is super bowl 28 georgia dome, when dallas cowboys won 2 back to back super bowl. i was senior high school 1994 👍
In case you wondering what the other H in Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome stands for, it was Horatio.
Hubert Horatio Humphrey is the Real Triple H. Triple H the Pro Wrestler is NOT His Real name.
@@davidwesley2525 yup, i know that.
Super Bowl V was the only time the MVP was from the losing team (Chuck Howley of the Cowboys).
The last Orange Bowl Game played at the Orange Bowl Stadium was in 1999, not 1966.
Exactly. I had to rewind the video to make sure I had heard him correctly. He definitely said 1966.
Tom Brady won this one?
I have alot of memories in the Orange Bowl Football, College football, Wrestling and Concerts grew up 15 minutes away from it.
Fun fact, between Tulane Stadium and The Superdome, New Orleans has hosted the most Super Bowls
Tulane Stadium section you incorrectly stated Super Bowl IX was the Vikings 2nd Super Bowl. It was their third. IV, VIII and IX
Superbowl VI was The Dolphin’s 1st not 3rd Superbowl.
9:46 now the Raiders and the Chiefs are tied for the most points by a AFC team in a Super Bowl.
Would have loved to have visited the King Dome, Seattle. Brutalist amazingness.
It was dizzying to stand on the playing surface and look up and try to focus on the top of the dome. It was truly a massive structure.
2 California based NFL teams played each other in a Super Bowl:49ers vs. Chargers. The Bills TIED the Vikings record of 4 lost Super Bowls
Who wrote this script? "St Louie Rams", "the Bills fell to 0 to 4", "This was the 3rd Tulane Stadium, it followed the 2nd one". Wow
@ 12:23 not true.... Super Bowl 1, Super Bowl 3, Super Bowl 16, Super Bowl 20 had both teams playing for their first Super Bowl Championships.
I want arrowhead stadium to host one of the best Super Bowls it would be awesome👀
never gonna happen, has to be a dome or in a warm weather location
@@bob80q Who cares about the weather it’s the coolness the great atmosphere the adrenalin from the great people.
@@kcmo3075 hey moron, people don't pay $10,000 to sit out in the snow and freezing cold
@@bob80q Didn't stop the NFL from having one in Met Life Stadium in NJ. However, I hope the league learned its lesson, but probably not.
@@Prof_Jeff yeah but they were insane to have taken a chance like that, and no way were/are many fans going to pay thousands to sit through freezing weather and snow.
The Baltimore Colts (Orange Bowl) and Minnesota Vikings (Tulane Stadium) were both franchises to play two different Super Bowls in the same stadium. Not the Broncos.
I think the super bowl every year should be held in one of the competing team's hometown.
I am your subscriber from Iraq and I hope that you will publish a video about the Iraqi stadiums because they are beautiful and we hosted the Gulf Championship and we will host the West Asian Cup ♥️👍🏻
Yes please I am subscriber from Saskatchewan Canada and second this, I too would like to respectfully request a video about stadiums in Iraq!
Why did The Orange Bowl put in the artificial turf after Super Bowl 3, and when did they go back to grass?
The Orange Bowl was played at the Orange Bowl well after 1966
I maintain that the 1969 Chiefs were the first wild card to win the Super Bowl since they didn't win their division.
I don't think that they had the wild card back then like today.
R.I.P. to the following stadium
Stanford Stadium
Orange Bowl
Tampa Stadium aka the big Sombrero
Pontiac Silverdome
Jack Murphy stadium aka the Murph
The Metrodome
Tulane aka Sugar Bowl stadium
My favorite are
Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
The Murph
The big Sombrero
Ugh! So many errors!
That said, I always thought that the Silverdome should have had another Super Bowl. Stupid NFL has a "once a decade in a northern climate" policy on Super Bowl sites. Shouldn't be a big deal with domes: Detroit, Minneapolis, and Indianapolis. No, we don't want Super Bowls in Foxboro, Buffalo, Cleveland, or Chicago (the one at Met Life was a disaster), but give northern domes more opportunity.
I think you got your wires crossed on Super Bowl 34. It was not the first Super Bowl in history between two teams trying to get their first Super Bowl win. By my count it's happened 12 times, 11 if you don't count Super Bowl 1.
Super Bowl 1 (Packers/Chiefs)
Super Bowl 3 (Jets/Colts)
Super Bowl 4 (Chiefs/Vikings)
Super Bowl 5 (Colts/Cowboys)
Super Bowl 6 (Cowboys/Dolphins)
Super Bowl 7 (Dolphins/Redskins)
Super Bowl 9 (Steelers/Vikings)
Super Bowl 11 (Raiders/Vikings)
Super Bowl 16 (49ers/Bengals)
Super Bowl 20 (Bears/Pats)
Super Bowl 21 (Giants/Broncos)
Super Bowl 34 (Rams/Titans)
It was the most recent between 2 teams looking for their first win
Wasn’t Super Bowl 20 between Chicago and New England?
@@robertlee6781 yeah that was an error by me
SB26 was in January 1992 not 1989. SB23 was in 1989.
super bowl 26 was played in 1992
It's Pronounce Lou-is. Not Lou-e
Echo terrible
Too many things just plain wrong. Channel blocked.
