Had a late Christmas dinner with my 2 boys/men and their fiancés last night. In my area in NH, their was/is a large Greek population within the town where I grew up. However, growing up, I only enjoyed a Greek meal at the local Cathedral once a year when my parents brought us to their Glendi festival. By the time I was an adult, there were Greek restaurants all over the city and you better believe I've been to every one! My favorite food!
I must admit it gets funny when Guinevere starts shouting about eyeballs for no apparent reason. Haha heehee. I Iike a bit of random nonsense. Thanx Martin London UK

Baklava is readily available in most supermarkets Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidil all stock them in the UK. They are a very tempting treat but, being diabetic I do resist. Ana is so smart and sweet. Immediately noticed that the baklava shape is like a nest and the nuts from the middle are like " bird eggs". She didn't want to eat them because " the bird mom and the bird dad " must take care of the eggs ! Such a good heart ! ❤
Just across the road from a hotel I stay in occasionally in Bulgaria is a Baklava shop -- oh ! The calories !! But so delicious. Glad they enjoy such a delight !

Guin fingers come to the rescue of the eggs so they can hatch before they get eaten. Baklava is so sweet with honey. I like a few bites but prefer spinach pie with feta and crust that has been basted with honey.

There is a Greek pastry called a "birds nest" that's very similar in flavors. The dough is shredded and formed into a little nest, the pistachios are eggs and of course there's honey involved. The one you are referring to as a birds nest is called kataifi. It is with walnuts and honey. The nest part is made from shredded phyllo.
