Been years since i been watching your videos and I still enjoy a good wind down and reviewing a good beer and hearing it's lifes history over the years along the way. Cheers my friend , thank you for the entertainment and reviews! 🍻
I really enjoy your videos. They've been a huge help as I try to select a regular beer to buy and drink. I drink craft beer when I go to restaurants to try new stuff. But when I'm home, I want to buy something cheap, consistent, and tasty. I did a blind taste test of MHL, Budweiser, Pabst, Coors, and Narragansett Lager, which we can get here in VA at certain stores. High Life won. Can't go wrong with a High Life.
@@ronaldtheriot we get Miller High Life here in Vancouver Canada the cans are brewed in Canada and are completely different from the original American Version of Miller High Life. We get the real American version in the 355 Glass Bottles. In 12 packs. I loved the Miller High Life when I had it for the 1st time in 2016 after getting some from Bellingham Washington. At a local Wal-Mart in the Jumbo 32 ounce Can and I loved it the taste was similar to Fosters. And it had Champagne like bubbles and vibe to it. I may get the American Version again. Since it's on sale. And I haven't had it since August of 2016.
I really appreciate your videos. One of the few beer critics on youtube who can admit they love macro beer. There's nothing wrong with that. Great job.
Just had High Life for the first time and I absolutely love it. I'd give it an A+. It is everything I think of when I think of beer. It's definitely one of my favorites.
I enjoy the double downs so much! the history this man knows is un matched! the food always looks good as well! hope all is well Ron, Semper Fi and YatYas!
I originally watched this about a year ago. Since then, Armour Hot n spicy vianna sausages with a small slice of raw red onion on saltines has become one of my favorite snacks. Thank you, Sir, for introducing me to the concept.
Some of my family are Millers from Germany as well. So many people from Germany (including my family) moved to the Great Lakes area because it was similar to their homes in Germany in climate and the richness of the soil for farmers, so much so that some called it "New Deutschland." Where I grew up near the Great Lakes we had whole towns that primarily spoke German. Great review! Prost!
Ronald Theriot We used to have a chain of drug stores on the west coast called Long's and they were usually the ones that carried it, most of their stores got bought out by CVS.
My all time favorite "every day" beer. Smooth, refreshing, and affordable. Too bad my younger generations have lost the appreciation for this fine brew. Great vid!
This is the best American adjunct lager for the best price. Has body, even has foam and lacing. This and Modelo Negra are like the hidden gems of beer.
never knew they use a ingredient to make the beer not skunk in a clear bottle! that's crazy. drinking this outa a can now and I always swore it tasted better in the can. must just all be in my head lol. good review jay
Hey Ron, I recently discovered your channel and you have great reviews! High Life is one of my favorites and has a lot of nostalgia for me-my senior year of college, a 24 case of bottles was $10.99 on special circa 2012-2013 (Outside of Pittsburgh, Pa) and my group of friends and I still get it for reunions and such. Anyway, keep up the awesome reviews!!
Hey Ron I just wanted to ask because I was wondering have you ever been to Corpus Christi or Mustang Island / Port Aransas? In my opinion it's a great part of Texas and I love going to the beach there. I'm going to have to try that Genuine Draft by the way, all I've seen is the high life mostly. Also another great video production! :)
12 pack bottles of High Life, in central NC, is $6.97. Picked up some today, can’t beat the price, and they go well with peanuts, crackers & cheese, or even a steak dinner.
I,still think it' one of the best beer on the market.Ive been drinking craft beer for a couple years and when I watched your review I had to try it again.Miller stands clear beer after beer. Thanks Ron
Hi Jean, I've only tried High Life Light once and liked it. Do you feel it's better tasting than Miller Lite in your opinion? Also, do you like Milwaukee's Best Light?
You should do a Coors Banquet vs Miller High Life, since they consist of the same ingredients I think. Would be interesting if they tasted any different
Hi Jay, Nice to see Miller has gone back to the traditional labels on their bottles. Two quick questions. Was Milbest lager formerly Meister Brau? And was there ever a MilBest Genuine draft? Thanks.
Hi Jay, I've noticed MGD and High life leave a film on the glass unlike other beers. Do you think it's the special hops in the recipe that could be responsible? I am a big fan of both aforementioned Miller beers
Hey Jay, Just back from a business trip and I picked up two High Life 18 packs for $9.99 each. I was tempted to grab some MilBest and Hamm's instead but admittedly, I love the High Life bottles (beyond the great taste of the beer itself!)
Nice revisit. Here High Life is 50 cents less than a 12 pack of Coors/Coors light. Old Milwaukee/Milwaukee's Best is 9 dollars a 12 pack. High Life is 10.50 a 12 pack and Coors is 10.99 a 12 pack. I like your prices better, but Walmart is to start selling package liquor next year. Thanks for the video and the history.
Hi Ron, Any chance you'll revisit taste challenges? I especially like the ones you did where you'd have a premium, mid-priced and value-priced beer to see if you could select which was which. Maybe LITE, Miller High Life Light, MilBestLight?thanks
After trying more than 100s of beers, i can say i will always go back to sippin on high lifes. There isnt a lager domestic or imported that compares to Mhl. Cheers!
There is a lake I went to not to far away in michigan called Craig Lake and you can rent out Frederic Millers cabin, I canoed across the lake, and hiked around, anyway, Fred and his son died in a plane trying to land on the lake, or maybe they hit the trees. Beautiful lake, no motors allowed on it.
Back in the 1950's , the land that now comprises the state park was privately owned by Fred Miller of the Miller Brewing Company. The other two Craig and Teddy, are commonly believed to have been named for his sons, but in actuality they were named for two friends whose identities have become obscured over time. Today, those two cabins remain intact and are available for rent. In 1954 Miller died in an airplane crash and the land was sold toa U.P. timber company. In 1966 the tract was acquired by the state, and one year later, it was made into a state park. It has been a favorite destination for Michigan anglers, paddlers, and hikers ever since. A portion of the North Country Trail runs through the heart of the park. I have never seen High Life in a Keg, nice
Yeah, the only place I ever found those "maple syrup style" ones was at Big Lots, so it might have just been something Armour was trying out, and then was quickly pulled.
Hey Ron, Great review. We stopped getting High Life in Canada about 20 years ago, at least where I live.I do like MGD which I think has a good fan base up here. I'm also big Miller Lite fan but recently started bringing back Milwaukee's Best Light when traveling to the US. The 30 of the MBL was 15.99 whereas a 24 of Lite was the same price. I can't tell the difference in taste and feel it's like getting a free 6 pack going with MBL. Keep up the great, frequent reviews!
I'm from Canada too. BC Vancouver I went to the states 2 weeks ago and bough 4 30 once jumbo cans of Miller high life it's been sitting in my fridge since last week I'm really excited to try it tomorrow night on Friday night
Tomas A. Molina Oh, I will probably lie down, drink some hot tea, and watch the Round Rock Express at New Orleans Zephyrs baseball game, on television.
4th of July holiday should be on July 2 since the American clonies declared indpendence from the UK on tuesday July 2 1776 even Jhon Adams pointed out that the 2 of July would be the holiday insted it ended up being July 4
It's been a while since I last tried this and it was good to try again. However, I had just finished a 12 pk of Pabst Blue Ribbon the day before that I had bought the previous week. I wasn't intending for it to be a comparison when I picked up the High Life. But, I found that it was less flavorful than the PBR.
I did something that I normally don't do I bought a 30 pack of Miller High Life in 12 ounce cans. It's not tasting the same to me. It taste a lot like the Hamm's beer in a can. If you get a chance can you do a review on Miller High Life in a 12 ounce can? thanks.....
Miller high life is pretty good. But I prefer ice cold malt liquor during this time of the year because it relaxes me when it is over 90 degrees outside. I drink ice cold malt liquor in my room with the air conditioning on to escape from the brutal summertime heat. Steel reserve triple export is a good way to catch a buzz AND beat the heat if you put it in the freezer for about 5 minutes before serving. 🍺🍺 ☀️☀️
Hey Ron, what's interesting is that Miller Imports MGD and Lite into the Canadian Market whereas Bud is brewed under license by Labatt up here. I'm in the minority being a Miller product fan vs a Bud/Bud Light drinker
Sharif Mansour I find the mexican stores better for that purpose, we have a chain here called La Perla Tapatía that usually has both brands on sale and in the cooler because they sell a lot of it I'm assuming.
Miller Genuine Draft in clear bottles is widely available at the grocery stores in my part of the world. And Galena hops at my local homebrew supply shop, some 8 miles away from my house. Interesting info for me, is that Miller "invented", or developed, Galena, I've never heard that. Cheers, Ronald!! EDIT: Forgot to mention that advertising for alcoholic beverages is forbidden by law in my area...
Forbidden? Well, Miller says they're the ones who developed or cultivated the Galena hop variety, Wiggo. Too bad, but MGD is pretty much dead, in my area.
Ronald Theriot Quite recently, I rated the MGD at Ratebeer, and gave it a 1,7/5 score... But Ratebeer's ZERO overall is ridiculous in my opinion, and so is the 6/100 for the style...
loved the info in the video man I wanted to add more info in mine but I think it would make it take a lot longer haha and by the way I like MGD dont drink it a lot but I grab a six pack every now and then
@@ronaldtheriot Yea, to me i’m not getting the same notes as I use to from this beer what are your thoughts on it or maybe you could possibly do an updated review of this beer?
I'd agree with that I just wish the bottles were cheaper, I think it has more to do with the freshness though rather than medium of container, bottles are kept on shelves less time so they will usually be fresher.
Wrong cans are lined so they never actually touch the aluminum plus no sunlight gets into the can causing it to skunk faster. Can are cheaper and allowed in more places. You can stack them. Why do u think so many craft beers are in cans now. Beer always taste best on tap right? Guess what that's from a aluminum keg!
Well, InBev bought the SAB part of Miller, but they weren't really interested in the American Miller portfolio, which pretty much contains beers which are the same as what they already offer.

I'm glad to hear that, and thanks for watching, Hunter Stewart. I appreciate it!
I can't get enough of the double downs! Thanks Jay- I'm always watching! Let me know the next time you are in the metro-Boston area!

Meant on the bottle label.
Thanks

Keenan Gorman its on the bottle im drinking at this very second lol
it really wigged me out when you whipped out the Armour Meats trivia, i didn't know your corporate history knowledge went that deep

Now that I’m 43 years old I mostly drink lower abv beers and this is one of the best. This will pair best with traditional American comfort food.
I know you're right about that! It's a great pairing beer!

I'm glad you like them, Sean!
Im doing a high life double down myself right now, but with ranch pringles
Excellent, man! Thanks for watching, Forest Vance. I appreciate it!

A true classic. Am starting to like the Light even more than the original. Perfect for any occasion.
The light even more? Wow!

Best Light is very enjoyable compared to most light beers and love the price.
+Ronald Theriot
yup. MHL Light had a nice finish and crisp versus High Life
I like both, but you know for a light beer I really do like the High Life Light. Almost as (if not more) than the regular HL, especially in bottles.
You should do a Coors Banquet vs Miller High Life, since they consist of the same ingredients I think. Would be interesting if they tasted any different

I think it's a classic, BS.
Dammit Ronald, you got me craving pepper jack now! Anyways, Miller High Life is my go to on these hot and humid days. CHEERS! from Los Angeles.
Ha-ha. Cheers back to you, in L.A., Led Zed!
Best old time beer ever
I can't argue.
I like high life and buy it often. I wish they would have released the vintage label on the12 oz can, I,only found the 16 oz with the vintage label.
Yes, it seems that their specialty labels are only done with the pint cans and 12-oz. bottles.

I don't know, Terrance, because I think I pretty much exhausted that area of this video project.
It was the first beer I ever drank back in 1978.
Wow! That's interesting, Jeff.

Excellent!
Love your videos and love Miller High Life! Its the Working Mans beer!
Yes, it really is the working man's beer! Thanks for watching, Anthony Vasquez. I appreciate it!
New York Metro area the price point is around $8.99 a 12pk bottles cans are $20.00 for 30pk ..
That's about a dollar more, for the 12-pack, than it is, here, Brian.
happy 4th of july, ron! high life and hot dogs on my menu tonight! cheers, dude!
Excellent, Tom, and the same back to you, dude!
u bet! plans tonight?
Tomas A. Molina
Oh, I will probably lie down, drink some hot tea, and watch the Round Rock Express at New Orleans Zephyrs baseball game, on television.

Thanks, and I agree, stevo.
Mmm. I was craving this stuff tonight, but the Rite Aid didn't have any in the cooler.

scooped a 32oz. it was not what i expect.
but it can go for a lite beer. i don't get the champagne aspect
Well, it's the light bubble aspect, I guess.
Any plans to do a double down on Mickey's or Magnum?

I used to get 12 packs for like 5 bucks a lot of beer has gone up stupidly in price last 10-15 years
It's pathetic, really.
I buy the 30 packs still priced at around 50 cents a beer if you buy it at the right spots.
ryacus I wish we could get those prices.
hey i live here in Canada i wish we had American style prices for beer where ripped off
Aaron Chand
It's sad, having to pay those prices.
For something that’s not to be whole lot It sure is good. Lol
I've always enjoyed it.
Yes!
Thanks for watching!
Texas hires Tulane baseball coach , your thoughts ? Hookem
I think he's a good coach, and I know that Tulane can't compete with U.T., so it's no surprise, rick.
I love to get me a 32oz and watch some sports!!
You heathen! Ha-ha. Yeah, it is fun to do that. I follow basketball, baseball, and football, by the way.
mmmmm, taste the vegetable oil :)
Ha-ha.
that's living. "The Highlife!"
You're right!
Isn't Glycol anti freeze? Scary
I don't know.
Ice cold it resembles a faint banana flavoring. Or that might just be the skunk
Regardless, it's cheap and familiar
Thanks for watching, First Last. I appreciate it! Well, I have heard others talk about that banana note, but I've never detected it.
Is it me or does Miller High Life pour a lot of head compared to other american lagers
It's not you. It DOES have that sort of head of foam.
I believed they changed the flavor of this beer it doesn’t taste the same to me anymore
Really?
@@ronaldtheriot Yea, to me i’m not getting the same notes as I use to from this beer what are your thoughts on it or maybe you could possibly do an updated review of this beer?
@@music_is_life95 Perhaps, one day, yes.
Better in a bottle than a can
To me, that's a tie, crazyness.
Oh hells no!!! Get a fresh bottle in glass and the can will have a metallic taste
I'd agree with that I just wish the bottles were cheaper, I think it has more to do with the freshness though rather than medium of container, bottles are kept on shelves less time so they will usually be fresher.
ryacus There could be something to that.
👍👊
Thank you!
I thought inbev was buying miller
Well, InBev bought the SAB part of Miller, but they weren't really interested in the American Miller portfolio, which pretty much contains beers which are the same as what they already offer.
Ever brew your own beer . ?
No, I have not. Excellent, for you.
@@ronaldtheriot you should brew your own beer !
I’d buy it lol
Busch double down!
Ah, now, that's a good idea!
man beer is cheap there compared to north dakota
Yeah, and the Chicago area has really cheap beer! Thanks for watching, David Cicha. I appreciate it!
did anyone else get scared at the beginning?
Probably so.
Why are all these reviews done out of a can? Everyone knows it’s better in a bottle
I never notice much difference. Thanks for watching, Jett Kune Do Atlanta. I appreciate it!
Ronald Theriot it very evident if you taste PBR in a bottle vs can. The can is awful. Take care.
So your telling me somebich ruined Miller beer
I don't know about that. It's still good, to me.
Born and raised in Milwaukee honestly surprised how little I know about it but after some digging Miller was ruined by some dumb bitch
You better take it easy on the Vienna sausage Ron, that stuff's not exactly healthy.
You're right, hcd, and I intend to only do one can per week, for now on, until the options are exhausted.
