    Man $300 for weeks of work and all the equipment. Not including the time it will take to get it in a state that is sellable. Not really worth it in my opinion. Maybe as a hobby or source of entertainment but in no way a source of extra income

    • @VoGusProspecting
      @VoGusProspecting  5 років тому +72

      On this scale no, its not an income source that you can 'live off'. You need commercial equipment to make it viable. An excavator and wash plant could of done that work in seconds, $300 in a minute is excellent.
      However, as a hobby. Its fun and social. It gives you a good physical workout. Its cash positive, meaning if I invest $150 for my weekend and come out with $$75 of gold I've been paid for my fun, not many hobbies offer that.
      And there is always the chance I'll find a $100k nugget.

    Just want to say hi and thank u so much i use to just watch gold prospecting show but over the last yr or so u have thought me so much more then i thought was possible I'd love to sit done and listen to u some more u should do some vids with out gold and just walking creeks and pointing out amd explaining in detail i know that makes me lazy but it just opens the playing field up for a lot of us prospectors

    Hey Chris, I have so much respect for your channel.
    It's not flashy nothingness.
    Its straight forward info that's very helpful. Your easy to watch because your full of solid info, not at all annoying as so many are.
    I'm 63 and so enjoy the search and reward no matter how meager.
    I was on the Coquille river in Oregon yesterday making my way down a tough berry bush type trail and there's relatively fresh bear scat.
    Not a good feeling. I'm like Hey bear. Unnerving. And 1st time I found no gold.
    Ever!!! New spot tomorrow. Gonna try some sniping. Smiles

    Another great video Chris. I live in California and my hobby is panning, nothing fancy just a classifier, Garrett Super Sluice, and garden trowel. Thanks to you, Andy from Adventure Gold, and the kid from DFG. I really appreciate your tips and knowledge: You Aussies are so much nicer than the prospectors here in the Motherlode. I’m happy returning home with a little color in my pan, nothing massive but usually around 0.1gram per session and an occasional picker. Thanks for being open about your mental health issues. I’m a high-functioning autistic and enjoying nature is much easier for me than interacting with people.

    Nice video Chris! I really enjoyed that intro, lovely bit of music just there, a great shot of Griz and really artful framing. You're doing quite well with the available natural light too. The fill light coming from the creek reflections really adds dynamic during your talky bits. I'd like to see some more attention on the interior lighting though. Just turn on some lamps dude! Overall, bang up good work, interesting musically throughout, a lovely day on a sweet looking creek, and a heap of gold! Wish you all the best! And again, a great production!

    Great going there. Just a Quick Question. I was out about a week ago in a creek and had my river Sluice in a creek. Didn't want to lift it out to check it, so instead got my stiffer bottle and sucked straight from the dream mat. Top 3 banks then instead of test panning every so often, I'd just suck the bank out to check. Made a little video that I put up on UA-cam. What's your thoughts.

    • @VoGusProspecting
      @VoGusProspecting  5 років тому

      I'd rather just lift the thing out.
      A full mat clean out gives you more than just your gold. It tells you the type and quantity of heavies.
      This is important because when you search for deposits elsewhere on the creek youll have a reference for what should be in your pan.
      More over if you suddenly get more or less gold looking at what else is with it will allow you to follow it.

    Chris I don't know if you have access to older maps of the creeks that you go to online. I have a program that I use in my area that gives me aerial photographs back to the 1930s and the original land survey of the state that goes back over 150 years ago. I use that program to check creeks and rivers that I go to and where the river or creek used to run where it crosses the creek where it's running today those are the locations that I find my best deposits. Kind of like a X Marks the Spot. In the rivers a lot of these locations are gravel bars. And I find the same thing in some of the creeks not all.
