I spent some time in jail and an inmate loaned this book to me, which when I left I forgot to return it. During my stay I’ve read this book 4 times and it’s impacted my life dramatically but not as I had hoped. The book is actually sitting atop of my Brittanica book case. After getting out and having my first experience of freedom I sort of lost my drive. Find Debbie to be an inspiration and a lot of what she says is meaningful. It’s good to remember her from time to time. Sounds selfish to say that it gives me strength to think of her. I suppose that is why I am here.
What a legacy Debbie Ford has left. I have only recently discovered her works and contributions and it is helping me in my own spiritual and self development.
I believe sometimes when other people's bad behavior irritates us, such a rudeness, it is simply an observation of something that is out of alignment with our own value system and not necessarily a projection. By claiming it a projection could cause undue guilt and creating a new shadow that really doesn't belong to us.
This is absolutely transformational information. Embrace your shadow to impact your life - love all of this. Thank you for sharing such a powerful interview! <3
Dunno if anyone will read this soon as my question has to do with the recent shootings in Charleston... So often when a Christian is murdered, we hear that the survivors forgive them, as is the case in Charleston. I'm particularly taken with the statement by family members that there's no room in their hearts for hate. So I guess my question is... how does Debbie's shadow work relate to the Charleston murders in the context of hate and love and condemnation and forgiveness. Can a Christian embrace or own hate in order to forgive? And if so, how would they do it?
