Neither do I, though I've heard it said. The whole matter of the suns heat having much force is purely a hypothetical matter for us here. ;)

The phrase “The sun is splitting the rocks’ is just as useful as a sentence I once encountered in a ‘useful’ Irish phrase book: ‘My passport was stolen at the check-in counter’… Fantastic videos for learners, btw!
Thank you for these videos. I started learning Irish some years back from a lady on here by the name of Jesjes1. She posted some great videos on Irish but sadly she deleted them all. I believe it was due to the negative comments she received. There were several comments to her from people from Ireland condemning her for teaching the language. If anyone starts bullying you on teaching Irish then by all means don't stop. We love your videos. The language will not die if we all continue to speak it, whether Irish or not the language should survive. Thank you.
Aye! Now living in the US, I am CONSTANTLY looking for ways to immerse myself in our language. I have found that most resources teach the Connacht and Munster (mostly) dialects. It’s rare to find one that teaches Ulster, which is what I was brought up speaking. In the 90’s, I believe, there was a programme that taught it called “Now You’re Talking.” The book and tapes are now out of print unfortunately, and the Memrise course is currently under construction as mentioned at the link below...

I love that this channel is alive and going on! Please keep at it! We need to keep Irish going! I’d love for it to maintain all its rules-caol vs leathan, the slender “r” sound, offglides, those wonderful hidden schwas, etc!

As a person from a city that has fewer sunny days than London, NY, Seattle, Berlin, and so it goes, it's really useful to learn the Irish words for describing "raining, cloudy, stormy", since I can totally relate to the Irish weather as well! Here in my city is also freezing most of the time (and I confess... I love it!), and there's a huge chance that your flight will be delayed at any random time during the year due to a thick fog. Greetings from CURITIBA, Paraná, in Brazil's South Region! 🤣
The whole thing about the weather is a myth. It is mild to warm all the time an it does NOT rain all the time. It is summer here at the moment and temperatures are around 23C to 30C. It drives me up the wall and I do not know where this whole thing about rain came from. It is a bit like the song, "It never rains is southern California, it pours". All urban myths!!!

I had a lucky week in the Ring of Kerry in 2000, it was so beautiful even my petulant teenage heart was moved.

A similarity, in the US we say scorched, like "That chair is sun scorched." I wonder if ag scoilteadh eventually evolved to scorched or scorching?
I think that „ceo” has the y sound in it because that’s the system with slender and broad at work. I always pronounce consonants preceding, following or surrounded by slender vowels in their slender form, which for me means that I pronounce a slender r like the r in Japanese, just a tapped r, s like sh, and then usually just add a little y sound after every other consonant or kind of weaken it at the end, or try my best to palatalise it, if that makes any sense, because I don’t like pronouncing the slender d and t the way you do, so I need a way to sort of distinguish word forms like „cat” and „cait”.

Thanks for that explanation. So I guess the "w" glide in some pronunciations of "Gaeilge" and "caol" (confusingly!) is for the same reason.

Also, for saying something like „it was raining”, would I say „bhí sé ag cur báistí” or „bhí sé cur báistí”?

You always say 'ag cur" as ag cur is the Irish equivalent of ing in English. Like if I was bleeding "Bhí mé ag cur fola" or he is annoying "Tá sé ag cur as"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe when you use aon as any, you use the singular of the following noun. So níl aon scamall sa spéir. It may be different region to region, or I could have learned it wrong 😅
