- Here is a video on how I repaired the battery on the JBL FLIP 5. This should be useful for those having problem with their battery pack and wanting to switch it out with a new one, OR if you're like me, just switch out the battery cells(LESS EXPENSIVE + MORE CAPACITY). Enjoy!

As experienced and mentioned by others in the comments there seem to be other (newer?) versions of the JBL Flip 5 - where the inside looks different and you have to work it different than in this video. I repaired mine so I thought it would be cool for you if I made a little instruction:
1. You have to make things different than in this video. So you should not try to force the material to behave like in this video. Otherwise you will break things.
2. The first cable with the white adapter, that is connected to the platine, will go off, if you just gently push it side to side, pull a little, again push side to side and so on.
3. Don't try to remove the speaker. Just pull it out and work around the cables having the speakers hang outside while still connected.
4. Pull off the sticky black foam in the back so you can work there. There is also foam on the platina. I removed a lot of it because it makes it easier to remove the platina afterwards.
5. There are several ribbon cables that connect the platine to the outer body of your JBL Flip 5. Open and disconnect all of them but take a picture to make sure you remember which one has to go back in which place (there are numbers on the ribbon cables that help you to identify them afterwards). Especially one ribbon cable is pretty hard to reach as it lays on the inside. Some ribbon cables can be taken off after pulling the little plastic barrier up. Others (the brown ones) are not working like that. You have to pull them up parallel to the cable. They will come off easy. Then you can pull the ribbon cable off. Sounds complicated but it isnt.
6. The bluetooth antenna is sensitive. But if you just gently solve it it shouldnt break. You have to be careful there.
7. there is another little cable with a golden knob. It is connected to the outer body of your Flip 5. You can just pull it off. It will be easy to reattach it.
8. At this moment all cables should be removed from the outer box of your Flip 5. If the cables are not removed, dont proceed!
9. The platina is very hard to move. Just pull off some of the black foam thats on the edges (but gently!!). That should make it easier. You really have to push your fingers against it. It will come into your direction.
10. Because you removed all the cables you can pull off the platina far more than in the video.
11. Replace the battery.
12. The rest is not easy but you will get there by yourself. Basically putting the cables back and so on.

With a spot welder you should check the battery voltage and power output as if you spot weld it for too long the battery can degrade

Hello, here in Peru Ripley sells the flip 5 with a 2-way horn and the one you are disassembling I see that it is 3-way or 3-pole, apart from all the board burns in the bluetooth, it will be that it is a cheap imitation, thanks, where can I buy Same as yours.

Hi, thanks for nice video. Could you please tell me the wiring of protection board? There is orange, white, yellow and black. Which one is connected with B+, B-, P-, P+ ?
I have the same question. Any one have a diagram of how the connections can be made to a HX-2S-D01 BMS board for JBL Xtreme 2 ?
I did it for JBL Xtreme 1.
But for the Xtreme 2, it seems to have extra connectors coming out from the mother board to the BMS board . I don't have the original BMS board.
The original battery is a Sanyo cell? I don't find the cell from that number on it. But i see something wrote under the coat. Can you please tell me what is the original cell?
Oh, an you can put the maximum of the cell 18650 a powerfull 3500 mAh and you will have a beast of 7000 mAh battery. You should get at least 24 hours of playing. Good job men!
Wait no I have a JBL Flip 5 and when I try to pry off the passive radiator frame it just comes off by itself without the bass radiators

I don't have a spot welder or Solder. Would it be safe for me to just tightly tape the nickel strips on the new batteries?
i wouldn't as the battery can easily get shorted espcially on the positve end of the battery.

6:14 Sorry to tell you, but those are not Sanyo UR18650ZM2s, but some cheap Chinese cells. Genuine ZM2s have no barcode.
(I would have expected Samsung SDI cells though, given that Samsung owns JBL/Harman.)

this 2 batteries have 3200mah and if you put togethger you have a 6400mah battery from stock 4800mah

Throw it away, bite the bullet and buy a new one.......
Jbl is completely greedy 2 make the battery that hard 2 replace ! The average person will just throw it out when the battery loses its charge.
You are not used for technical service, you are very rough to disassemble, that is done with great care to preserve the parts to be able to reassemble correctly without being defective due to broken clicks and not closing well.
Are u kidding I'd sooner buy a new one
