Everyone says the whole breathing in space thing is an inconsistency but it's really not. They're not actually in space they're in the most outer layer of the atmosphere or the exosphere which goes further than you think. Also toriyama did not write the original bardock story but he did draw bardock in the freeza arc after this special came out so everyone took it as canon. @@nok4799 You know it's not actually space when it starts to get dark right? I mean we still couldn't survive on that amount of oxygen I guess but no one said a Saiyan couldn't.
Lol the exosphere is ridiculously thin, to the point where the molecules rarely collide with each other. Frieza assigned Vegeta to another planet to conquer to get him away from the planet before he blew it up cause he taken a liking to him, Nappa, Raditz and Broly were all off the planet when Frieza blew it up.
I find it really funny to watch 'newer' Z fans watching this, these early abridged episodes came out in an era before anyone was thinking Super and Kai was just getting announced, GT was much more recent history. Dragon Ball as a franchise very much felt over and so people kept going back over the movies and shows such that the fandom at the time got all the references that many current gen fans might miss. Not saying its a bad thing, it just shows that those early vids were made for the Dragon Ball fandom as it existed in early the 2010s
I can’t wait until you see Bardock Pt 2. Also Bardock is canon, but the movies are from a different timeline. There’s a few clues here and there, but they all exist in a separate universe from the shows.

I don't know if you've seen anything on this yet, but you should totally watch Legend - A Dragon Ball Tale! It's so awesome! Vegeta survived the destruction of his home Planet because he was basically being held Hostage by Freiza on another Secure Planet with the Ginyu Force Around. This was meant to insure the loyalty of the Saiyan Race and to make sure that they would never rise up against Freiza, but after Kannassa when Freiza learned about a Super Saiyan killing him in the Future, Freiza just decided it would be best to destroy the entire Planet. This is why Frieza had Bardock and his team destroying Kannassa, because he didn't want the Saiyans learning about it and he thought it would be Hilarious to use them to do the job.....
You should watch the Dbs Broly movie, Goku's mom appears in that movie and they told the canon story of Bardock a bit. It's a pretty cool movie, if you don't have any plans to watch super in the future I'd recommend you just check that movie out It's literally so good
So the space thing. There's two ways to look at it, either A you take Toriyama's word that they are just in upper atmosphere, Or B: Frieza, the guy who can't count also didn't know what Saiyans were actually capable of. Personally I side with A, but there are many times you see Saiyans in a space like atmosphere. The main one is Vegeta on that moon, it was all rock and leads me to think no atmosphere due to lack of plantlife and water.
Saiyan can save Air. They cannot breath in space.. but.. have air for days... xD Its explained on Namek in the "underwater kamehameha" scene. So they cant breath in space. But hold breath and speak. xD
this is a part two to the Bardock story by team four star ua-cam.com/video/m0JME7eodTk/v-deo.html and if you want to know more about Goku parents you can watch the Dragon Ball Super: Broly (2018)
And no, the Bardock Special is not Canon, the second Bardock Special isn't either. The dbs broly movie wrote that new, based on the DB Minus manga short from Akira toriyama and retcons even more things, like always xD But Toriyama liked that Special, so he integrated the last Scene into the manga, there is one shot of Bardock.
The saiyan race was almost entirely composed of genocidal monsters. Kakarot and his mother (and much, _much_ later on, Vegeta and Broly) are about the only decent examples in the entire species, and even Kakarot's mother was perfectly fine with Bardock committing mass genocide -- she just didn't do it herself. All of the others we're aware of were absolutely horrible, and if it comes down to it, Freeza actually improved the state of the universe by destroying them and their planet.
Well, I wouldn't say 'genocidal monsters', but they definitely were savages and uncivilized. They were essentially cavemen when the technology to go through stars was thrown to their face. Their tech could be advanced, but their society was so tribal yet.
@14:40 technically they were not in "outer space" they were fighting in what would be the planets exosphere, plus frieza's race is the only one who can survive long in outer space
One of the credits is listed as "DJSexidillionaire," who shows up a couple more times in the future. This is eventually revealed as Chris Sabat. There are a couple others who eventually make cameos as well.
Vegeta survived the destruction of the planet, because he was already off planet with Nappa, Raditz, and two other Saiyans. He never came back to the home planet to die.
@AniMelon They weren't in space. They were in the outer edges of the planet's atmosphere. This doesn't look much different than space, as the air is very thin up there. In fact, the air is much too thin for anything on planet Earth to survive. However, this is Planet Vegeta, and it's unknown how thick or thin the air was up there, but apparently Saiyans can survive, even if short-term, in that part of the atmosphere.
14:28 Who said Goku can't breathe in space? He just didn't know he can. You have filler scenes after Namek of both Vegeta and Goku hanging out in space. Also, this movie is pretty much canon, since Toriyama liked it so much he drew two panels from it in the manga (and now they've retconned it with Super...). And even ignoring all of that, Battle of Gods has Goku fighting in space no problem and that movie is totally canon.
Saiyans can breath in the upper atmosphere/ inner space but not outer space. Vegeta and nappa could breath after blowing up Arlia because they were technically still in what was left of its atmosphere and probably the life support systems of their pods were spilling into the space near them.
Oh i'm not sure if it was said but this is canon! BUT! they actually remade this episode and added a special ending in which Bardock, using the powers he aquired from the alien race, survives the Freiza attack somehow (seemingly), he's on a beautiful planet with kind aliens... Until the planet is invaded by Lord Chill, Freiza's relative. Chill kills a kind child alien, causing Bardock to become a Super Sayain. He demolishes Lord Chill, Chill's dying breaths telling his men to warn of the blonde haired Sayains.. To fear them. This brings up the posdibility of Bardock having time traveled with his powers, and becoming the 1st Super Sayain. All that being said, the added on portion is non-canon, but cool.
It's semi canon to the anime in the sense that Freeza destroyed Planet Vegeta and Bardock technically did exist. It's probably 100% canon to the Abridged timeline. Usually the movies take place in an alternate timeline whereas the Specials like Bardock and History of Trunks are treated as canon.
There should be a playlist so that you can watch the movies in order of release because there are still some inside jokes you won’t get because you haven’t gotten to that part of abridged
Besides the “I cAn sEe tHe fUtuuRe” joke, this is relatively sub-par (great original movie in terms of lore, though). I am SO looking forward to the continuation of the Namek saga!!! Hope you still consider doing 3 episodes at a time! :) Regarding the ‘breathing in space’ plothole, I’m pretty sure they’re still within the atmosphere of planet Vegeta (so they can breathe).
The best movie is worlds strongest. The comedy is top notch. Even tfs thinks it’s some of their best work. And I think it takes place before the namek saga.
"I've never watched GT" The few seconds that you've seen of it here is all you really need to know about it. The end of planet Vegeta soundtrack: ua-cam.com/video/WbTK9LCbqT0/v-deo.html A shorter version of it, played when Goku arrives to fight Freeza: ua-cam.com/video/XMnxG1LESSk/v-deo.html
Don't worry. This movie and History of Trunks were always more depressing content wise investing in solid story, so too much jokes would downgrade it. The other movies though are chock-full with them. Namely World's Strongest, Lord Slug, Android 13 and above all Broly!
That’s not mid space that’s why. Is the earth surface like I don’t know how to put it but is not mid space where bardock his is closer to the earth so he can still breath
I didn't see anyone else mention this in the few top comments I'm getting shown. I don't know the full story, and I don't know the reason Chris was there and Sean wasn't, but I'd wager that has something to do with it.
Just an FYI they weren’t fighting out in the vacuum of space. They were still within the outer limits of Planet Vegeta’s atmosphere where oxygen is available just in low quantity so no worries on inconsistencies there
Yeah, movies are little bit different since there's a limited source material thus writing and editing cannot be as flexible (looking at you, Bojack). I still like the tone of TFS Movies and Specials and how they were integrated to the main series yet not a crucial part of the main series. Like in other words, they felt like DLC to the main series.

Melon I love your reactions to all the Abridged series! It's awesome to find another person that appreciates Dragonball Z!
Also! I don't know if you've seen anything on this yet, but you should totally watch Legend - A Dragon Ball Tale! It's so awesome! It is fan made, but it really shows how much love the fans have for the series!
If you like the theme song it's from the 1986 Transformers movie
As far as the "breathing in outer space" thing, let's just assume there was some atmosphere there.
You should watch the Dbs Broly movie, Goku's mom appears in that movie and they told the canon story of Bardock a bit.
It's a pretty cool movie, if you don't have any plans to watch super in the future I'd recommend you just check that movie out It's literally so good
So the space thing. There's two ways to look at it, either
A you take Toriyama's word that they are just in upper atmosphere,
Or B: Frieza, the guy who can't count also didn't know what Saiyans were actually capable of.
Personally I side with A, but there are many times you see Saiyans in a space like atmosphere. The main one is Vegeta on that moon, it was all rock and leads me to think no atmosphere due to lack of plantlife and water.
There are videos of sabbat and takahata101 doing interplay as TFS Napa and sabat's Vegeta at conventions.
Goku's mothers name was Gine and she was a.kind hearted Saiyan and a butcher on planet vegeta. You can see her in dragon ball super broly
And no, the Bardock Special is not Canon, the second Bardock Special isn't either. The dbs broly movie wrote that new, based on the DB Minus manga short from Akira toriyama and retcons even more things, like always xD
But Toriyama liked that Special, so he integrated the last Scene into the manga, there is one shot of Bardock.
That may be true for the original anime, but Team Four Star made them canon for their series.
@@BigGator5 TFS made everything canon.
Ah yes. Planet Vegeta: Planet Shit-Outta-Luck
Chris Sabat has sneakily done voices for TFS under pseudonyms
@14:40 technically they were not in "outer space" they were fighting in what would be the planets exosphere, plus frieza's race is the only one who can survive long in outer space
I seen video of Abridged Nappa and Chris Sabat playing out the Are We there yet bit
One of the credits is listed as "DJSexidillionaire," who shows up a couple more times in the future. This is eventually revealed as Chris Sabat. There are a couple others who eventually make cameos as well.
14:30 i think they are still on the atmosphere of the planet
Vegeta survived the destruction of the planet, because he was already off planet with Nappa, Raditz, and two other Saiyans. He never came back to the home planet to die.
Was just checking a bit ago to see if a new episode was uploaded. Love this dbza movie.
None of the dbz movies are canon to normal dbz but they are canon in dbz abridged
I think they were still technically within the Earth's atmosphere during Goku's fight with Beerus. They were just at the edge of it.
Love you great reaction
Saiyans can breath in the upper atmosphere/ inner space but not outer space. Vegeta and nappa could breath after blowing up Arlia because they were technically still in what was left of its atmosphere and probably the life support systems of their pods were spilling into the space near them.
remember...i can see the futurree
Watching DBZ abridged with a pretty lady, amazing
So them fighting in space/upper atmosphere is supposed to be because of breath control I believe
If you haven't already been told this, you should check out the Canadian captions. They're not 100% accurate but they are 100% hilarious
In Dbza , All movies are canon
Can’t wait until you get to coolers revenge and the broly movie. They knock it out the park
It's not that they can breathe in space It's more of the fact that they're in the outer atmosphere of the planet
There should be a playlist so that you can watch the movies in order of release because there are still some inside jokes you won’t get because you haven’t gotten to that part of abridged
It’s safe to watch the second bardock movie, however I would not watch the rest till you’ve finished most of s2
14:30 that's not outer space, they're still in tbe stratosphere
Besides the “I cAn sEe tHe fUtuuRe” joke, this is relatively sub-par (great original movie in terms of lore, though).
I am SO looking forward to the continuation of the Namek saga!!! Hope you still consider doing 3 episodes at a time! :)
Regarding the ‘breathing in space’ plothole, I’m pretty sure they’re still within the atmosphere of planet Vegeta (so they can breathe).
The best movie is worlds strongest. The comedy is top notch. Even tfs thinks it’s some of their best work. And I think it takes place before the namek saga.
"I've never watched GT" The few seconds that you've seen of it here is all you really need to know about it.
The end of planet Vegeta soundtrack: ua-cam.com/video/WbTK9LCbqT0/v-deo.html
A shorter version of it, played when Goku arrives to fight Freeza: ua-cam.com/video/XMnxG1LESSk/v-deo.html
I love this movie!
Don't worry. This movie and History of Trunks were always more depressing content wise investing in solid story, so too much jokes would downgrade it. The other movies though are chock-full with them. Namely World's Strongest, Lord Slug, Android 13 and above all Broly!
Honored that I was the 1k like 😌
I never see people mention how the songs from this film are from the Transformers movie
Say hello to kaiserNeko as Zarbon :)
Yeah Sean Schemmel and TFS have a complicated relationship lol.
That’s not mid space that’s why. Is the earth surface like I don’t know how to put it but is not mid space where bardock his is closer to the earth so he can still breath
I didn't see anyone else mention this in the few top comments I'm getting shown. Sean was well known as having a negative disposition toward TFS and DBZA, but I've also heard his attitude has changed more recently. I don't know the full story, and I don't know the reason Chris was there and Sean wasn't, but I'd wager that has something to do with it.
Planet S.O.L Shit outta luck.
Nappa was a big dude.
GT is really good!
12:09 - 12:17
SOL = S**t Out of Luck
yeah, thats GT
Actually, saiyans can breath in space. The reason Goku can't is because he grew on Earth
Honestly the whole breathing in space thing isn't exactly consistent
So, Chris Sabat has worked with TFS from time to time, and the crew and him are pretty chum with each other. Folks like Sean Schemmel, however are not a huge fan of TFS content, and has publicly expressed distaste towards TFS essentially profiting from pirated content. Though I think Funimation as a whole are generally OK with TFS.
They've run into more problems with Toei Animations, where Japan has its own set of copyright laws and doesn't fully adhere to international copyright laws.
I'll be honest, I'm kind of talking out of my ass. All I know is that Chris Sabat is pretty cool with TFS, and that they have beef with Toei Animation and Sean Schemmel
