I saw this film nearly 20 years ago when I was 19 early in my horror fandom days. I still remember seeing the trailer ad on a VHS movie. When I was 9 when the movie came out in 1988. I remember being with my parents when it came on. It scared me so bad I jumped into my father's lap terrified. I had nightmares for years about Chucky just from that one trailer. Then finally in 1998 I rented the four Chucky films from Blockbuster. As a test of courage determined to get over the fear ,and ended up becoming a fan.
Yeah I have a lot of great memories of this one as well.
I love love love Child's Play but Child's Play 2 was always my favourite!

It's all deserved praise, ha ha. Child's Play 2 basically follows the same sort of story as the first, but since we already know the doll is alive it drops the build up and gives us more of what we love: Chucky! It isn't as good as the first for me (the first is more suspenseful), but it's a whole lot of fun.

Curse of Chucky returned the series to its horror roots, which I liked, but my favorite sequels are the hilarious ones- Bride of Chucky & Seed of Chucky. Overall, it's a good franchise. Awesome videos!

One great thing I love about Child's Play is the theme song at the end. Beautiful, yet sad.

I was 10 when this movie came out. When I saw the trailer I was so freaked out because it made no reference to a killer doll. It was mostly audience reaction. There was a woman crying into her man's arms while he told her it's only a movie.
Now that's good marketing. These days they want to give you the whole movie in 3 minutes.
I love this review of Child's Play. One of my favorite horror films of all-time. Skip 2 and 3. Watch Bride of Chucky Seed of Chucky and Curse of Chucky. Brad Dourif's daughter is the lead in Curse of Chucky and she is fantastic. Also the end credits of Curse of Chucky there's a cameo which blew me away.
Actually I just watched 2 and enjoyed it quite a bit. Chucky is on 10 in that one haha. Thanks for watching man!

Hell yeah! Been looking forward to this review for a while and its finally here ;)..love the beginning intro Lee lol. Brad Dourif was born to voice Chucky. He did an amazing job and he can't be replaced. The part where he comes to life in Karen's hand was the part that scared the shit out of me as a kid lol.. I'm excited for you to see the others man and awesome review

Lol that intro was great! It's been a while since I've seen child's play but it's a classic for sure. Oddly enough, I've never seen the sequels either so really looking forward to the rest of your reviews.

Yeah if I would've been a kid when I first saw him I would've been freaked out too.
As soon as I saw that Elmo doll...I instantly thought of "Kill James" that one Elmo Creepypasta. Haha. The Child's Play series belongs up there with the Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Halloween franchises. It made me love Brad Dourif.

Saw it in tie ties tee in 88 and what can you say, Brad Douriff, always tearing in one eye and a few years before his magnificent performance in Exorcist 3. Chris Sarandon from Fright Night and the mom from Seventh Heaven?!! Loved it and loved the review!

I have actually not seen the first child’s play movie yet or Cult. Yes on the rest. Alex Vincent was great as Andy Barclay. So adorable! When I first saw the shot of the apartment building, I thought it was the one on Seinfeld, but it’s not. I think the most unsettling kill in the series to me was John Waters’s death with the Sulfuric acid in Seed, even though it was an accident by Glen. Such a shitty death. That and the lesbian lover death in Curse, electrocuted on the laptop when she was just staring at Chucky with smoke coming from her eye socket.
I love these movies man, my chucky collection is ever growing. Props movies, anything child's play!
Yeah I might sell my DVDs and get the blu-ray boxset after this is over!
Okay now that I'm home from work on to Child's Play! I loved this movie after I was old enough to understand it a bit more. I remember being like 8 watching this with my dad and being annoyed with the movie like "We know its a doll dad why are they blaming that poor little kid!?" Because for what the first almost half we don't actually see him move. But realized when I watched it like 5 or so years later it was more done for them trying to blame Andy etc and the build up. Also Alex Vincent is hands down one of the best kid actors from horror movies ever. Esp how much he grew in the second movie.

Aside from Child's Play (1988), Catherine Hicks was in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home(1986) as well as playing the mom on the WB tv show 7th Heaven. Brad Dorif is really what makes the Child's Play franchise special. Whenever I watch this franchise, I'm definitely engaged even with some of the terrible sequels. A Platinum class certification rating.

Just watched this last night and big surprise, I really dug it! I thought it was such a delightful horror movie to watch and it was well directed, well acted, and it had such great animatronic special effects. Chucky kinda reminded me of The Terminator to a certain extent because he’s that hard to take down. I really like this movie, it’s a fun time and a really fun 80s horror film!!

Being a horror movie aficionado, I have to say that this is one of the very few horror franchises that has successfully continued (even though the latest two are straight to DVD) without being rebooted so far. Think of it, Halloween, NOES, Friday the 13th, and TCM, they've ALL been rebooted, at least once. For instance, the TCM franchise. Leatherface:TCM3 is titled part 3 but if you've seen it already, you know that it has absolutely no continuity with the first two films. Meaning that it's a reboot. Again, TCM: The Next Generation (the 4th one) with Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger. Yes, it doesn't have a numeral in the title and the subtitle is "The Next Generation" but as far as I recall, I don't remember it being advertised as a reboot, but it IS a reboot. The reason why I have to emphasize this is because when the Platinum Dunes remake came out, they hyped it as if it was "the first" reboot, when in fact, it was actually the 3rd time! The way I see it is that when TCM3 and "The Next Generation" came out, during the early 90's, it wasn't good business to advertise new movies in a franchise as a reboot. If you can believe it, (well you already know, sorry!) "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D" is supposed to be a sequel to the "first" entry. Yes, I won't deny that but in reality, as odd as it may sound, it's a reboot-esque sequel. Because the actual series ended with the "actual" sequel, part 2. Since "SPOILERS" everyone actually died in the actual part 2, they had to retocon it, dump it to make another direct sequel to the first entry. Despite the fact that (as far as I can recall) TCM3D was a hit, storywise there was practically no way of continuing this version, so they made a "prequel" (to part 1) which hasn't seen the day of light, years(?) after completion, a very bad sign but I really hope it gets released in theatres. Sorry about the long explanation. So, apart from the Child's Play franchise, depending on what you call good or bad, the only other good horror franchises that haven't been rebooted on the big-screen so far are the following series: The Exorcist (not counting the TV series), Phantasm (haven't seen the last one yet because it hasn't been released in my country), Scream (not counting the TV series), Maniac Cop (not so popular, I know), Hellraiser (if you don't count the recasting for "Revelations", a movie I personally count as a unsuccessful reboot which is soon to be followed by another Direct to DVD sequel or whatever.) I was also going to mention the Stepfather series but it was already rebooted/remade, ha! I was also going to mention "The Thing" series (scifi-horror) but quickly remembered that even the Carpenter version was a remake! Last but not least, who can forget the Alien series (scifi-horror) which is still continuing in the form of amazing prequels. So as a HUGE Drumdums fan, I hope you get to do videos/reviews for the franchises I mentioned. Keep up the wonderful job because I enjoy your videos so much! ! !
That is a really good point. I can't imagine them rebooting the franchise, at least with a completely different looking Chucky. Noone should play that voice except for Dourif. And thank you for the kind words man. Really appreciate it!

Child's Play what are the greatest starts to a franchise ever. Some of the effects are kind of dated but that's only like two scenes mostly affects look amazing the acting is great all-around and characters are great Chucky is scary in this one there was just so much to love and not much to hate in this movie. Nothing will ever top the second one! That was the "Dream Warriors" of the Chucky franchise. Its a real shame that Cult didn't try to go in the same direction as 2 since Curse kinda went back to the same direction as the original. Instead, Cult tried to be more like Bride and Seed, ugh. I really hope the TV series is as scary as they say it's gonna be. We need the old Chucky back from 1, 2, 3, and 6! I miss him so much!

Lee I have an idea of something you could do every month for your channel... maybe once every month you can do like a monthly award thing for everything you've seen that month.... like your least fav of the month then your fav then fav horror film....drama...etc...best performance and all then at the end of the year do an award thing for the whole year just something I thought would be cool because you're great at reviewing and giving constructive criticism on films.....

Drumdums trust me it's really good it's a lot more darker than the other 2 and it takes place we're Andy is all grown up and he's in military camp school and Chucky goes for broke in this one he uses yo yo s, darts,paint ball guns, big knifes, guns it's all in this movie he kills a lot of people just to get to this kid Tyler ohhhh you herd me right he doesn't need grown up Andy he has new target called Tyler. now Tyler really wants a good guy so when Tyler is delivering a package to Andy he drops the package on the floor and a bit of the package rips and he sees the logo of the good guys dolls so he goes to the place where you keep all of the guns so he opens the package and he sees the good guy but when Chucky jumps out out of the package it all starts all of the deaths and mayhem begin!!!!!!
