Watched this movie over 100 times as a kid. Even led me to drive truck for many years. Still get goose bumps
Same, and as an adult, this is one of my all time favorite movies, no it line by line.
Me To! I had never been a truckdriver, but I also watched it over a 100 times as a kid, and I will watch it 100 times more, because it is a masterpiece!
The last growl of that Mack damn that was a hell of a truck running strong amd hard
3:23...epic! When that Mack suddenly swings off the bridge with that sound. One of the best cuts in film.
There were four Macks and two trailers used in this movie. Three of the Macks and one of the trailers were destroyed during filming. The fourth Mack and surviving trailer have been restored and are displayed at truck shows around the country.
Two of the macks are still around today and one of the trailers
If we include the glider kit there were actually 5 Macks used
Ernest Borgnine is brilliant in the role as Dirty Lyle!
I grew mostly knowing him as Mermaid Man from SpongeBob, but I would watch Convoy as kid with my dad and never put two and two together until years later. Lol
He was one hell of an actor.
When I was a kid in the early ‘90s, we had this movie on VHS, recorded from tv(channels didn’t play it too often, internet was nowhere at those times), watched it sooo many times, until someone recorded something else on that cassette...I was gutted!!! Still one of my favourite movies:)
Im sure many of us have no time for crooks and criminals but how cool is it to be able to just put on your sunglasses in a way that says "screw you, Im going down fighting"
Смотрел в советское время несколько раз в кинотеатрах этот фильм вместе с отцом ,это незабываемо!!!
Тоже смотрели , думали революция в США началась , а потом СССР развалился
After all these years I still can't believe Kris Kristofferson was an officer in the Air Force.
Army.
A helicopter pilot, Ranger qualified, taught English Literature at West Point, and served with the 8th Infantry Division in West Germany. Resigned his commission (Captain) to pursue music.
. . . and he also had rolls in movies that predicted the future! ua-cam.com/video/yA_dI2ia0QM/v-deo.html&ab_channel=safvio
@@cavscout6bGotta say, that’s a man who wanted to live his life to the fullest.
For anyone who wants to know, the vehicle the M60 GPMG is mounted on is an M42 SPAA. also called a Duster.
@@Vee6watchman with a pair of 40mm guns launching HE shells designed to rip apart planes and light armored vehicles, yeah it would have obliterated that engine block
More movies should have endings like this; showdowns that end up with things looking grim for the hero, but still, in the end he turns out victorious.
@@rogerwalsberg oh hell yeah! Depending on the original or the remake tho! Loved both of them! 💯💯💯💯
Nobody would've expected the Duck to to do any different. Never back down. Ever.
That ol Mack would've still caused that tank damage if it had stayed on a collision course. I drove a blue one like that pulling logs once and I loved it. Was a very tough and well built old truck unlike these today. And also, if there were 10,000 gallons of Nitro in there , the whole bridge would have been wiped out along with anyone or anything within at least a 100 yard radius.
Funny cause that trailer was onlyba 3500 gallon trailer more or less
Methyl ethyl ketone is different from nitroglycerin. They are both explosive but nitroglycerin more powerful.
Kris Kristofferson. Army Ranger, Rhoades Scholar, Singer, Song writer, Actor and one badass front door!
“He showed no fear as he grabbed a gear and shoved it in Grand-daddy low”.
When he put on sunglasses, badass mode
Putting on Sunglasses in a movie when something is getting ready to happen. Started with GENE TIERNEY in the movie LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN !!! She was really GREAT in that movie !!!
I went to report to court one time, the lady said it was dismissed...put my sunglasses on in front of her and walked out of the building
Is it me or are the gear changes for real perfect timing throughout the movie!!!
One of the best movies out and yeah gotta love when jake breaks kick in!!!
Movie endings do not get any better than this. Simply the best film ever to come from the states, FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Movie endings do not get anymore contrived than this. Simply put, you are a moron, FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!![sic].
An even better movie ending is from White Line Fever with Jan Michael Vincent
I remember reading an after report on the Marine compound in Beirut when they were attacked by the truck. One marine fired at him with his varmint rifle the AR and that was deemed to have done nothing. They said even an M60 wouldn't have been effective. They concluded the Marines needed a 50 cal, MA2. Personally, I feel like we should provide our folks with real fire power, an M61 Vulcan cannon mounted on a humvee, 20MM, 6K rounds a minute, nothing could get through a gate!
I love the sound of that old 2 stroke deroit ☺
@@68modelpete10 I've seen one in a water truck years ago and that's it. Maybe one more in a rock truck at a boulder hole. Maybe.
The reason according to legend that it sounds like a gm is they dubbed the sound over the original engine sound. Some say it was a buzzin dozen, some say 8V71. There were 4 trucks in the movie. 2 of em had cummims engines.
As for the small block V8's, a friend of mine had one pulling produce and another friend has one on a low loader. Both trucks pull very well and sound awesome. Kick myself every time i think i could have bought one but didn't.
@@68modelpete10 Like 'MOvin' On'. One time you hear a Cummins or a 3406 and the next it's be an 8-V. Hollowood is too hollow for me. You can't mistake the sound of a 2-stroke over a 4. Not if you've ever heard one and knew what it was.
Love the signature Peckinpah cross-cutting with slow-motion.
When Trucking Was Trucking. A Good Movie .
The Duck was quite cunning the he took it off the bridge and got out. Good old Rubber Ducky!
I cried my eyes out as a kid when that Big Black Mack hit the drink :(
One of his best performances. RIP.
The very last scene of that bowed up angry duck sitting on the hood right before the trailer explodes is just BAD FREAKIN ASS!! Like it still ain't scared of nothing and coming straight for ya!!
Yup... That angry duck with the hair standing up on its back gets me every time
The "thump" of the trailer when he shifts from 1st to 2nd sounds so awsome
Gotta give Ali Macgraw credit for running in high heel shoes.
this is epic. first time i saw, when i was young, and every time again, just great.
It's surprising that the bridge was still standing after that explosion. As the story goes, the 7,000 gallons of nitromanite was a Class B explosive, literally a high powered bomb on wheels!
Welp... That truck and trailer are totaled...
And god I just love that air horn salute...
Love the sound when she turns off the bridge!
Leon Topodium the Jake brake kicks in automatically when he takes his foot off the throttle it helps slow the Truck down but wasn’t enough time before it went over
@@leontopodium9653 Yes, it's a retarder known as an exhaust or engine brake. Jacobs' engine brake or Jake Brake are the regular names for them. Mack Trucks used their own version on these models called Dynatard.
I remember watching this movie on HBO (back when it took a couple of years for major movies to get from the big screen to the paid channels), and I snuck watched it every time I could (I was ony nine or ten at the time). Loved the movie, the song and the quack quack at the end LOL. This movie is what kicked off the trucker movie craze of the mid to late 1970s, bringing us shows like BJ and the Bear and the iconic Smokey and the Bandit. Good movie, I need to readd it to my collection.
Ja to oglądałem mając lat 6 w 1988 roku . Tata jeździk ciężarówka 45 lat a teraz ja . W krwi mam ciężarówkę .😊
I have loved this movie since I was a Kid even after all these years of driving truck a still do
The Rubber Duck……the LEGEND!
GODSPEED Kris….you’ll be missed!
I'm, too old to care but.......Fantastic film, a showcase of modern living where a parent is fighting to live.........
Never seen such a brilliant movie as the convoy ever since I watched 40 years ago can not beat it fact
Man with a bad ass attitude
A Mack with a 2 stroke 6-71 and a 10 speed roadranger a sacrilege !!! LOL

I'm trippin off how he survived 😁
Best childhood movie ever.
The last time i saw this movie "Convoy" was way back in '78. I was a kid back then. And it started my appreciation to trucks.
in the book ,Lyle shot at the diamond explosive sign on the front of the tanker, i guess the director didn't want to give Lyle the satisfaction
Never knew that there was a book....I'm an avid reader, and Mack Tech, and a Convoy fanatic...Gonna have to try and find it...Thanks,man.
pinkusmcduff oh sure but Lyle sure got the best of Rd !Rhonda Bienes
Truckers Rock
Canadian Truckers, Hang In.
Stand your ground.
See, my daddy always told me to be just like a duck - stay smooth on the surface and paddle like the devil underneath..!
" I HATE SOMEONE ELSE PAYING MY DUES"
I loved this movie when I was a kid.
Despite using a Tank to take down this Mack it was a heavy hauler, take those trucks and replace em with the newer rigs with a push bar to protect the grill it wouldn't stop for anything, the main reason this Mack stopped is the Tanker blowing up, otherwise it would plow them into pancakes .
All I'm gonna say is a steel butterfly hood RD 800 MACK with a moose bar bumper.
Full double frame. And a Mercury sleeper .
Lyle must’ve trained the cops in GTA V
At the time and for many years after, this movie held the record for most crashes in a movie.
@@clarky23if there’s any movie worthy of beating Convoy for that title, then it’s definitely Blues Brothers. Lol
One of my favorite scenes is the characters struggling to think of a country song, so they just sing the theme to “Rawhide.”
Old boy thought he was killing that Mack..takes more than an m60 to do that..especially missing all the vitals
Heros are those who give everything for an ideal! Great Movie!
Would have been cool to let the Mack continue over the bridge. That thing wasn't stopping for nothing. They are hard to kill. Of course, except for when they take a blow from an M47 tank.
T Jay Slater thank God for that at least Rd was abei to disconnect one part of his truck and the other part fell completely in the river !Rhonda Bienes
Actually its an M42 Duster, anti aircraft "tank", with twin 40mm cannon(and Dirty Lyle's M60!)
I say this is the best truck scene from any movie
This movie was so popular that the federal government was afraid that all truckers would rise up into a continuous convoy and take over the country in a loop that wouldn't end. They invented wheel spikes for the highway patrol to use in case of convoy transpololigarchial tyrannical revolt.
This movie is very nice. Conwoy of truckers vs police corrupt and Sheriff Lyle corrupt
To quote V for Vendetta: government should fear it's people, not the other way around!
The Canadian truckers sure scared the sh!t out the corrupt Cadian government ... I have never seen a Prime-minister run and hide so quickly! 😆
@@mikegallant811A lot of the higher ups in government seem to like to use the government to control their citizens instead of help them, and it’s a shame really.
This film grot me in to truck back in 78 and ever sincr i have been facinated by trucks
4:13 me and other truck drivers on Interstate 45 in Houston when President George HW Bush Hearse passed Through
Legends says that Angry duck is still posing on the hood
Your taking this too seriously, It's just surprisingly good movie based on a one hit wonder.
The movie wasn't based on the one hit wonder song by C.W. McCall or anyone else.
The rubber ducky man he was good in this show is A fantastic actress and singer
Great movie and directing. All those little scenes that give a sense of speed and such!
3:02 You can almost see the panic in Papa bears eyes.
Oh fuck! I can't stop him!
Just like maximum overdrive last stand of good guy and bad guy
Fantastic movie could watch this many times over 👍🍻😍
1978. I remember you, the useless things I bought that came to no avail from that time until now. The old flea markets to the truck stops, was you an illusion or just a mirror of my inner being the unrelentness past
Legend has it the gunner was yelling get some...get some....hahaaa get some baby. Mainly because he had 157 confirmed kill including water buffalos.
BEST MOVIE Ill be a truck driver soon
Hard to believe, a High School friend, owns this truck n trailer
And once again American law enforcement over react to pick on an innocent hard working trucker.
Huttz001 he was guilty of not social distancing and of hoarding toilet paper. Still think using a tank was a bit over kill.
Actually somebody fucked with the wrong one's life just because of some chain and pushed some bullshit or caught it or something. I blame the first fuckin pussy
"Hey Duck, you're finished, you're finished, you're finished."
RIP Rubber Duck
The duck on the hood makes it even more badass
That truck and trailer are sitting in Rome Ga
Was that the same hood ornament duck in Death Proof?
The engine sound from the MACK truck going through the gears is amazing
The bell/gong at the 1:31 Mark gives me the chills every time.
And he has a good name same as mine Martin Is a fantastic name and I've got blue eyes just like him
Breaker 1-9 breaker 1-9, this is the bear in the hardware at your front door!
In my experience of being around and working on Mack trucks I've never hear one search for definite idile rpm that truck has a Detroit in it
Einer der besten Truckerfilme, coole Action satt 👍
in in the British forces and i envy the tankies! you look alot meaner in a 50T tank, we tend to use HESH rather than HEAT, that would be a even bigger explosion than this
You ever heard of a duck that couldn't swim?
He was haulin' nitro-manite... not 'glycerin.
RIP Rubber Duck You will be Missed

When the rubber duck puts that girl out and then slides those Chrome shades on and starts stacking those gears, that gives me the chills everytime
this scene is the reason, why I wear chrome shades ... every time I put them on, I remember that scene and feel the spirit
Agree! Especially the gear change from. 1. To 2. When you hear the “slam” from the trailer coupling.
It was all the horns going for me cmon
