Bucket needs to be air tight. Drill holes on near top of the bucket (depend on how high container which you place bucket on), fill water into bucket, put lid on make sure lid close air tight, place bucket up side down in container.
Nice. Take a look at one on you tube (automatic self maintained water system for chickens) it will make you live a lot easier, trust me, it did for me and still doing. Let me know, thanks
Me wondering why I didn't just do this first having ordered 2 aluminum 5 gal waterers that don't ever stop running the water out no matter how level they are for $108.
So glad i found this one. I always have buckets and I'm so tired of dirty waters or nipple systems that ALWAYS leak. I've also seen lots of videos where the bucket is turned over, upside down. However, rightside up could allow me to put a warming element in it for winter. Or just to check water levels easily.
THIS WILL NOT WORK - it has to be air tight…… You can put a hole near the top of the bucket - fill the bucket up - put the “tray” on top then turn the whole thing upside down….. That “might” work but this definitely won’t - the water inside the bucket will alway try to be level with the water outside the bucket.
You seen it work just they way it was designed; so what is your problem? The proof is in the video, the water stopped at the desired height, so stop with the doubter attitude!!
@@napierhomesteadfarms8902 how is yours air tight? I thought this method would work but after seeing youtube on air tight and upside down buckets...... i don't know...
If you drill the holes on the other end you won’t have to worry about it leaking, the lid will be in the water which makes it air tight.

I was thinking that same thing.
Wow! How simple! Thank you. I will be doing this… like right now lol

I have some backyard chickens and I will be leaving town and this will do the trick

Love the idea of the warming element!!!
Where did you get the Pan/dish? I can't find them anywhere.
Tracker supply
Thanks, I have looked at our local Tractor Supply with no luck. I'll look at others.
What is the red thing at the bottom?
Help I made the exact same waterer with a kid in and it keeps flowing till bucket is empty 😮
How you stop the water from coming out?
our holes are below the red water bowl so when it fills up to that it stops.
Mine just spills the water out
Tried it doesn’t work

Yes were trying to get ready to make another video with more details ..... We had added in the comments that it had to be air tight to work.

I’ve ruined 2 buckets it just keeps running out. I hope other people have better luck
needs to be air tight
Needs to be air tight and on level ground as possible.
@@napierhomesteadfarms8902 ok might try it this summer. Thanks

@@dawn1913 were gonna try to make another video giving more detail but you do need a lid to put on the top after you fill it up.
Good idea but your setup is definitely flawed
