I love this man's voice so much! He just keeps getting better. Beautiful songwriting and a pure, raw, real honest rock band!!! Long live Greg Dulli and the Whigs!
I'm from Cincinnati and a friend of mine from High-school was their original Vedeographer. I just accidentally found this video. I feel lucky, because this is my favorite Band and I love these guys! I really like these guys. They were all good guys. Greg Dulli has so much talent and the band is so good after all these years I'm talking since the 80's and 90's! The Bass Player is a really personable guy and so is Greg. They were always regular guys never a snobby attitude and accepted praise gracefully! I always considered them my friend's!
@@glennhalila8279 I love hearing stories like that. In interviews they are always so funny and personable, it's just a bonus that their music is some of the best of that last 30 years. Greg was also the voice of John Lennon in the Beatles movie "Backbeat".
Hope that you both got to see them cause they're f***ing amazing live!!!! Saw them play for the Black Love tour and it left my friend & I speechless for a good 5 block walk as we tried to process what we just witnessed!!!!
I was 16 and listening to some random music with my ex-boyfriend. It was during the days when CDs were just beginning to get a popular, and they had disc changers (showing my age here). My boyfriend fell asleep and the CD that played was Congregation... I was blown away. I stayed up listening to it and discovered that I fell in love with Dulli that night and not my boyfriend. 🤣🤣🤣 I'm blessed to live close to Cincinnati, so with that city being his hometown, I have been able to see many Whigs shows as well as Gutter Twins, and The Twilight Singers (personally I believe the album Blackberry Belle is his best work ever. If you havent ever checked out The Twilight Singers, you should today!). I've met him 2X. First time it was at a Gutter Twins show and he seemed to be your typical absorbed celebrity, but 2nd time went much better. I actually stole his setlist paper taped down at his feet. I absolutely love Greg Dulli and The Whigs, one of my all time favorites... forever. ❤
John Skibic’s slide tone at the beginning of faded is absolutely spot on, classic Afghan Whigs. I know it’s “I can’t make you love me” by Bonnie Raitt but it is “1965” era Whigs slide tone nailed! I see why Greg brought him into the fold! 🎸🇺🇸
Light as a Feather is so spectacularly good! Greg Dulli still has Beautiful Voice. I remember when they played at Bogarts and the Top Hat in the Beginning. I was there. A Friend of mine from High-school was their Videographer in the Beginning. What a Great Band! This is an Excellent Video. The Music is still as Great! I always want to Dance to this Bands Music. Good Beat Great Musicians and Great Vocals!

But of course a lot of work to do for an old time enthuisiastic to run around and shout they have to enjoy, cause they only later will realize wich huge impact and deep soul this sound have. Hope u also checked out the twillight singers and other projects of gregg. stay open hearted an loving oldering dudes
Yeah well he's middle aged, quit smoking and drugs, and spends most of his time touring. He got really skinny when the Whigs reunited cuz he took a break.
Better late than never. 😉 Dulli, has had a couple side projects as well. He was the singer (and more, of course) of The Twilight Singers for awhile. Check out the album Backberry Belle. My favorite work of Dulli's.

I was totally stunned when the Whigs were announced for Haltern Pop Festival. This place is 75km away from where I live and it was like a dream came through. Greg Dulli and the Whigs playing in Germany. But you are right, the crowd wasn't ready for this. It wasn't the right festival to get worshipped for the Whigs. Love the whigs, first seen them on the gentleman tour, that wasn't yesterday. Last time was dulli and friends, lost their edge a bit, but still classy.

Yeah, that song did lose a bit of its pulling magic like that. I think the KEXP performance is the one I like most for that song. Still, not complaining, the concert as a whole is amazing. Voice-wise, Dulli is killing it and then some, and they are super tight as a unit.
dulli in his prime had more sex appeal than most of us will ever have ever in our entire lives even if we manage to dorian gray it to 200. if i can still sing and command an audience half as well as he can when i’m 50, i won’t even mind being fat.

agreed. he has become the best in the rock world sincerely
too bad the crowd has no clue what mastery is happening right in front of them....legends... regardless of the lame audience.
Whigs 4VR!
He was flat for most of the songs. What are you talking about? He can't hit the notes anymore. 36:20 - he's dying here and the notes are flat.
@@davidtaylor6663 That's probably why they chose him to be the voice of John Lennon in the Beatles movie "Backbeat".

No. Not a Band - it's Dulli. And it's magic.
I did not pay that much attention to his music in the 90's and boy I was missing out.
