And she has a hidden reason for acting like this: spoiler (don't remember when this come up in future episodes): She wants Alex away from the mansion because she will use the mansion to smuggle Briggs forces into Central and she dosen't want Alex to be involved in that. Plus, the damages to the mansion caused by the fight provide a cover for that: the Briggs forces will be smuggled in using the pretense of repairs.
Fun fact: Apparently, it's heavily implied that Alex held back against Olivier in the manga. Which is very much in character for him, not actually going as far as he can against his sister. At the very least we didn't see him try to use Alchemy against her in the anime.
I totally understand it, because this version glossed over the whole Youswell incident, because the only really important character from that story is Yoki.

6:08 this place is youssuel, it's a city moved by mining that edward saved from yokki (and that was cut from the brotherhood), they even already knew may, in the manga she arrived in this city after crossing the desert and she saved the miners from an accident in the mine for which they are so grateful (it was even in this situation that she heard about Edward)
And the reason this and a couple other things were nixed from Brotherhood (like proper character intros instead of a rushed montage in episode 1) is because the scenes were in the original FMA and didn't want a lot of copying. Especially when the producers assumed that a majority of the audience watching this had already watched said original

So the creator gave the animators permission for creative liberties and the animators basically wrote their own story as they went along. The whole reason for animating Brotherhood was because FMA deviated so far from canon that it's essentially its own story separate from the manga (minus the first 10 or so episodes)

The town that May visits is the same town Yoki used to be in charge of, Ed showed up there early in the Manga (around the time he went to Lior) and did all those things you saw in that flashbac a few episodes ago. It's also in the 2003 anime.
In the manga, the reason why GreedLing got distracted during his fight with Wrath was because he noticed Selim/Pride and was terrified of his eldest sibling. Never really understood why they cut it

That's why they are SO nice in this episode, they were written to already know each other in the Manga so it makes more sense when May changes her mind to save them from Father.

Every anime has that one super badass that have their abilities leashed/handicapped because they're way too OP. In this case, it's Wrath with only one life.
Bradley is one of the best villains in this series, along side Envy. Their written perfectly to hate them, but whenever their on screen, you can't help be invested to the scene.

Putting him along side Father in the sense of no good build to their characters leaving them as just "their evil".

That riff from "Roundabout" makes a great sting. I always enjoyed the tune, letting the lyrics mumble spelling out a different tale than intended. In general I didn't have a lot of use for Yes (don't ask, those were the Vietnam War days) but they did have some excellent music and the talent to create it.
I love that King Bradly actually has a wife he loves and treasures as the only thing in the world that he was able to have that he earned himself. This story does villains properly. Layered and complex with some proper irredeemable psychos thrown in.
The town Mei went to was actually the town Ed and Al saved from Yoki. Brotherhood didn’t show the full story, so you wouldn’t know, but that buff guy and the kid played a fairly big role
Hohenheim of Light (FMA 2003) had a power he doesn't seem to have here, to transmute light into physical form. The different tellings of the saga help give it a lot of breadth, almost like legends passed down through history have. Anyone else remember his "date" with Maria Ross?
Alex is a big softie and I doubt he cares about anything else other than redeeming himself at the current time. Pretty sure he was perfectly fine with letting Olivier lead the family. Also Selim just glaring at Greed was creepy as hell It’s also interesting how Bradley, as powerful as he is, is somehow more limited than other Homonculi in pretty much everything he does. Almost as if he’s limited by things that are “normal” or should I say, non-supernatural / human. He is old, has no supernatural abilities, his swords break, he cant work as freely as the others etc
Bradley does seem to have better than normal speed and strength, as well as his "Ultimate Eye" abilities for analyzing a situation, but he does not have the more exotic abilities of the other six.

Funny thing, Alex's youngest sister that was cheering him on threw the piano like a softball in Yoki's flashback. In 2003 series Armstrong tried to help Lt. Boche by setting him up on a date with her. But he had a massive crush on Lt. Ross whom was being hit on by Hohenheim.
I think you gotta have to watch Seven Deadly Sins eventually, even if just for Carlie's reaction to certain parts of it (But Tower Of God has got to come before it)
Hi, first of all i'd like to say love the reaction and energy from the both of you. There is an anime i would love to see your reaction. Have heard of an anime called 86? its a anime with the main theme of reality of war. Although its in a semi mecha genre, but its not focus on big mecha fight like the gundam series. Its more focus on its story, insane character development and world building. There is a lot of foreshadowing and symbolism in this anime, not to mention the fantastic music. There are small fight here and there but it was short and straight to the point type and when there's a big fight, its a big epic fight. Its a roller coaster of emotion. It might be start alittle bit slow on the first 2 episode for the build up, but it pick up later in the season.This anime took the phrase 'show, don't tell' to a whole new level Happy to see you react to it. ⚔
I think you little bit misunderstood Olivier's hatred towards Alex. Alex's big weakness was not standing his ground on what he believed. He stated that he fled the Ishval war because he didn't think that the army was right but he didn't really do anything about it. He was silent awfterwards but did nothing. As you see Olivier's actions when she heard that the lead of the country is homonculus and what shape country is. My mam has been busy killing, politicing and moving around country, evacuating her family... She def taking more action heavy approach. I don't think that Alex's stance against the army or Ishval really mattered to Olivier. She really just wants him to finally stand his ground. (Hence the shoe scene where he just let her stomp his foot without resistance and with only kindly asking to move.)
Alex is one of those side characters that we are lead to believe will have a lot more screentime, but he drops off after about 20 eps or so. I love every time he's on screen though
See this is why I always argue he first 9-ish episodes of the original FMA should be watched before Brotherhood, because that's Youswell and they're the nicest people in the world lol
Even in that case it'd be best to just watch episode 9 since episodes 3-9 take place in a completely different timeline (I mean the whole show does but that's beside the point) which really messes with one's perception of events
@@Vael221 technically everything that happens before the whole Lab 5 stuff is in the original timeline, the only thing that really wasn't was Aquroya the city of water and why I suggest cutting it off at that because we get into the Red Water story after that. But it built their reputation as "heroes of the people" that was the impetus behind their names being known everywhere. It's why I suggest just the first 9 or so episodes though episode 13 is also one that should be seen as it helps flesh out the Mustang crew and we get a bit more goofiness with Hughes and Elicia.

It would've made Yoki's reintrroduction more understandable, it would've made Nina's life a lot more painful for them and it would've made the reason why Ed and Al are famous more easily explained. As they're the heroes of the East as they spent a good few years travelling out there as Mustang was in Eastern Command before and would sent Ed and Al to all the places to fix small problems brewing there. Go read the Manga to get the full scope of things.
You have no idea how overpowered Bradley actually is. Honestly think he's stronger than Pride. There's a reason why he's the only "old" Homunculus, a prime Bradley would be too overpowered, we need the good guys to have a chance XD

Even in that case it'd be best to just watch episode 9 since episodes 3-9 take place in a completely different timeline (I mean the whole show does but that's beside the point) which really messes with one's perception of events
@@Vael221 technically everything that happens before the whole Lab 5 stuff is in the original timeline, the only thing that really wasn't was Aquroya the city of water and why I suggest cutting it off at that because we get into the Red Water story after that.
But it built their reputation as "heroes of the people" that was the impetus behind their names being known everywhere.
It's why I suggest just the first 9 or so episodes though episode 13 is also one that should be seen as it helps flesh out the Mustang crew and we get a bit more goofiness with Hughes and Elicia.

It would've made Yoki's reintrroduction more understandable, it would've made Nina's life a lot more painful for them and it would've made the reason why Ed and Al are famous more easily explained.
As they're the heroes of the East as they spent a good few years travelling out there as Mustang was in Eastern Command before and would sent Ed and Al to all the places to fix small problems brewing there.
