Hey Rob, the inclusion of the "Can't Buy Me Love" & "I Should Have Known Better" on the "Hey Jude" LP was due to they not being previously available on a Capitol album, remembering that the AHDN soundtrack had been issued by United Artists instead in the USA. Both tracks however had been released as Capitol 45's in 1964 with ISHKB being the B-side of AHDN in the USA. The "Hey Jude" was curiously issued locally here in Australia. I thought at that time that it was part of the standard catalogue, not realising it was a 'Capitol concoction'. Sadly "The Inner Light" wasn't included but should have been.
Thanks Chris. Yep took a while to put it together. You know I have all the UK and Canadian records but I was just curious how Capitol assembled the Canadian albums. Now I know.
Great work, Rob! Thank you for putting this together. Growing up in Canada I have many fond memories of my early Beatles LPs - many of which you displayed in your video, here. I also have one not so fond memory..., of my parents selling my record collection as we prepared to move to other parts of the world. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, and for adding context.
Fantastic video document. Thank you. I'm in the US and I found the Canada version of With the Beatles at a small record shop. It sounds great and is nice to have in my collection. Wish I could get the next two after that.
Beatlemania With The Beatles is the one to get for sure. Same as the UK and pressed from the same master tape. Same track listing. The US Meet the Beatles has a different track listing and they made their own mix that was too heavy on reverb and compression. The Canadian album first pressing is relatively easy to find and a perfect alternative to a UK first pressing that is very expensive.
I totally agree with you about Magical Mystery Tour. Finally, Capitol released their own concotion which was a strong product. Paul White in Canada was a visionary, Dave Dexter was a dweeb (to use a 60`s colloquial expression, sorry kids, ask your parents). Great analysis, very entertaining video. A+
What d'ya say Rob , Reckon you got a proud, new sub.from E.Tn. Great film, sir! We wanna start our Canadian collection, one record at a time. I do, however, know of some selections that'll bring big smile to my face when acquire! Heard u fancy the 'U2'- me too, ha. Got to see @ Georgia Dome, circa'97- was magnifico!! I like the latest one; but sure took awhile to appreciate, ' get the groove of it'. Could o', woud o', shud o' grabbed the vinyl - passed on it for 11$., hope don't repeat similar behavior when start buyin' again. U fancy the older rock band, Bachman Turner Overdrive?? They were Big here. And have u listened a newer, Canadian group with interesting sound' Elbow'? Oh man, is there 'Butcher' cover from 🇨🇦 Canada? Take care, M.
Thanks for watching. Yes, BTO are fantastic. I have a couple of their albums. Ive seen Randy Bachman twice. There are only three known Canadian Beatles butcher covers to exist. They were preproduction samples. It never went into mass production here.
@@NorthernRevolutions Yeah, Mr.Rob- they did rock the house, indeed. Got to see them twice,& maybe a third time. That were many yr.s ago; absolutely remember though, the last time, as was a free concert here in Knoxvegas!! Imagine that now- wud b rare. And then R.Bauchman started solo worx, yeah . @19:20, of course, it's 'Revolver', released on the 9th of September. 🙂 I think as well that the British pressing of Sergeant Pepper had no visible gaps between the tracks on the LP, whereas I believe the North American versions did have them?
In Canada, of all the songs the Beatles recorded up to 1964, every song --Including the singles, only ONE song fell through the cracks and never appeared on any record released in Canada.. Which one? Here's a clue. This song WAS included amongst the US records.
@@beatledavesbeatleschannel I have watched several of your videos already and subscribed. I just started my UK collection six month ago. Im about halfway there.
@@beatledavesbeatleschannel thanks Dave. I did a two part deep dive in my Beatles collection it includes EVERY Canadian Beatles album. If you need a snooze watch it 🤣
Informative video. Allen Livingston should have released "Please Please Me" as it was instead of Twist and Shout even though it was released earlier. You noticed some of the AHDN songs were on Something New. The reason why Can't Buy Me Love and I Should Have Known Better was because they hadn't been released on a Capitol album previously. You're right about Capitol did something right in creating a full album of the MMT. The Magical Mystery Tour LP was released in the UK in 1976 and Hey Jude was released in the UK in 1979. I have heard a lot of people say "I've Just Seen A Face" was a better opener than "Drive My Car".
I agree that Please Please Me should have been release as intended. I see thought why Paul White altered the tracklisting. The Twist and Shout album featured She Loves You which was the first Beatles hit in Canada. It was rapidly climbing the charts when Capitol Canada releases the album and would hit number one a few weeks later.

@@cuppadan glad you enjoyed it. Those three are super common up here. They repressed them many times.
@@NorthernRevolutions we hardly ever see them this side of the border. Too bad, I like the track listing of those.
@@cuppadan you see them all the time on ebay and Discogs and pretty inexpensive.
The only Canadian album I have is Long Tall Sally on the lookout for the others.Great insight into these albums so thanks.

"Bad Boy" was actually released in the UK in 1966 on the compilation album "A Collection of Beatles Oldies... But Goldies"
I know. I learned of that after I made this video.
hiya Rob, love the video, i like the twist and shout lp, that is very hard to get here in the UK, keep up the good work

Sie Liebt Dich was released on a vinyl album in 1979 both in the US and UK called "Rarities". Take Care, Marc
You’re right. I forgot about that one. I have it but never play it. Thanks for the correction.
norway pressed their own albums back in the 60s, but we used the UK versions
I forgot to mention "Bad Boy" did get released on the UK "A Collection of Beatles Oldies" in 1966.
You are correct. But my point remains that it was recorded at the request of Capitol USA specifically for American release.
