    Guys, this is just an amazing set. Good job!
    It can be the best bushcraft kit all over the world if you make a flask that fits perfectly inside. I mean something like your "39oz Wide-mouth Stainless Steel Canteen", but shaped like this pot and maybe with a slightly larger mouth if that's possible.
    Good luck!

    This is absolutely brilliant as a cookset! The Trangia of Bushcraft/prepping/survival.
    Without even testing it, i can enumerate it's strongpoints:
    - The ridge around the new alcohol stove design solves the trangia's biggest problem: cold. Alcohol is my go to fuel except for 4th season camping, where it is harder to use. The little ridge allows for a little fuel to be placed there. That will preheat the stove, and make it bloom into full blast faster. That is useful year round but crucial in the winter where an alcohol stove can be almost useless. I always light my DIY alcohol stoves with a match, because that way I can put the match to the side of the burner and before the match burns out, it preheats the stove and fuel inside. That shortens blooming time largely. That's the same principle that will work with the little ridge.
    - Using an alcohol stove will mean you can buy alcohol in bulk, which is critical in disinfecting tools for example. I always bring a little with me wherever I go. (ofc bleach is much more concentrated per oz as a disinfectant, but it's nice to have something that will work in seconds, and evaporate with no trace). I even bought a distilling kit which I can use to make alcohol for fuel, drinking and preserving food supplies.
    - Efficiency. Both in weight (because the potstand it the windshield) and in fuel efficiency (since the windbreaker surrounds and cups the cookware, effectively concentrating the flame and directing the heat to it. This most definetly recoups some heat that would be lost to the wind, or even simple convection.)
    - Lifetime guarantee isn't even needed. SS will outlast us with little to no care/attention. It can dent or rust but only out of pure neglect or ill intent.
    - Versatile as SS can be used with all kinds of stoves, even a campfire because of the Bail handle on the pot
    - Weight at 34oz is high, but that's a pot capable of cooking for two easily. plus you can replace the pan with a canteen and have it nestling, and saving even more space. (but personally I keep my lighter, firestarters, kindling and cooking utensils inside my cookware)

    This is a luxury ONE made better than the original Swedish army canteen. Being made of stainless steel, the weight of the full set of canteen is close to 1 kg. So I wish the windbreaker part was made of aluminum and only the part that cooks food was made of stainless steel for safety. I also wish there was a space for a strap, like a German army canteen, so that it could be easily hung on the backpack's molle system.

    Will the alcohol stove fit on the "firesticks" on a G2 Firebox stove, like the Trangia burner (that has the "lips" or edge that allows the Trangia to "hook" onto) ???

    • @ElliFong
      @ElliFong Рік тому

      not in the convenient fashion, since it is wider than the original trangia burner, you would need to put the firestick on the diamond slot further down and rest the alcohol stove on top of the sticks.

    Hopefully this one is the same gauge stainless as the original military one.
    Actually have my original military stainless I bought as new unused stock on eBay now for sale to replace it with this one.
    Only because I really wanted the stainless windscreen more than anything. And I didn’t care for the smell that came off of the original one. Only used it twice to boil water. An due to the smell. Can only imagine from the paint I never actually used it for food.
    So definitely hope this one is a winner. Really hate to be offing the real deal one. But do have high hopes.

    • @carmenmartinez2882
      @carmenmartinez2882 Рік тому

      Is stainless steel so more durable than copper, takes longer to bloom though. Trangia only has seams issues when you let it burn dry too many times. Hope this helps since I have both, the part I like about the Pathfinder is the fact that burns much longer without refills if I’m cooking something other than boiling water this is my go to stove.

Save your money and the use of excess space to carry more gear. If you're camping a day or so, this is great. But in a SHTF issues, my go-to is wood, it's free and there's plenty to go around. I don't even want to begin to imagine how hard to clean this thing is going to be. Stainless steel cookware absolutely sucks out in the field, with the only thing worse being cast iron. If this was made of the same speckled hard anodised aluminium that the GSI Soloist pots are made of, I'd buy it, but being stainless steel, I just can't justify it considering the amount of water and scrubbing that is required to clean it...
