- Shaykh Dr. Muhammad bin Yahya al-Husayni al-Ninowy is a Syrian-born American Islamic scholar.
Shaykh Muhammad was born in Aleppo, Syria. He is a sayyid, a descendent of the Islamic prophet Muhammad PBUH, through his grandson Hussein ibn Ali by way of Musa al-Kazim. His family descends from the southern Iraqi village of Ninowa, where Hussein ibn Ali was martyed in a partial area which is also known as Karbala.
He began his study under his father, Sayyed Yahya Rahimahu Allah, and many of the senior scholars of Aleppo/Syria at the time, memorising the Qur'an and acquiring knowledge in Islamic sciences, including Aqidah Islamic theology, Fiqh Islamic jurispudence, Hadith Prophetic tradition and Ihsan perfection and excellence, with ijazahs certificate to teach. He particularly specializes in the fields of Hadith and Tawheed.
He attended Al-Azhar University, Faculty of Usool ud-Deen, where he studied under many scholars. He was also under the tutelage of many who resided in Syria, Medina, Mecca, Tangiers, Fez, Rabat, Egypt, Sudan and Jordan.
Shaykh Muhammad is keen to revive the Prophetic message of Love, Mercy, Moderation, Tolerance and Sincere Care of Humanity through education with a "Back to Basics" methodology i.e“ the Qur’an and Sunnah”.
Since 2001, Shaykh Muhammad has been the Imam and khatib of Masjid Al-Madina in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, where he delivers the weekly khutbah Friday sermon and gives a weekly majlis religious gathering in Hadith and Tawheed. He participated in many national and international conferences on Islam, world peace, and welfare of humanity.
Shaykh Muhammad is the founding director of “Planet Mercy” and Madina Institute & Seminary in the UK, South Africa, and Canada, and the USA.
Shaykh Muhammad also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mircobiology from the University of Illinois and a Doctor of Medicine degree, he was also a professor of Anatomy and Physiology at the University of Georgia.
He authored many books in the science of Tawheed, Hadith, and Usul, some of which are being translated into English and published, such as:
” The concept of Bid’a and its application”,
” Nisf-Sha’ban virtues in the authentic Sunnah”,
“Hadithi commentary on the Shamaa’el of Imam Tirmithi”,
“Explanation of the Nukhba Text in Hadith sciences”,
Explanation of the” AlFiyyah” in Hadith terminology,
“Hadithi commentary on Imam Nasa’iy’s Khasaa’es,
” Expressing delight for the birth of the Light”, and more.

If Mu'awiyah lived in our time, he would be tried for treason. And if Yazid lived now, he would be tried for war crimes. And Mu'awiyah cursed Aliy. How could he have loved Aliy and institute a curse on Aliy, to be cursed in every Jumu'ah. I'd rather not be Muslim, though I promised Allah to study Islam, and studied Sunni Islam for over 40 years. I am sorry, I cannot be party of hypocrisy. I can say, I love Aliy, Fatimah and the family of the beloved last Prophet Mohummud, whom I love. I hate the Deen of hypocrisy. Aliy said ' Your character is low, your Deen is Hypocrisy, you break your contracts and your water is brackish'. My Imam is elloquent, honest, brave, loves the poor, loves reason, loves Allah and the Nabi Mohummud.

Not only was this against the trust that the Muslims placed in him as a community, it was also against the agreement that Muawiyah had with Imam Hasan a.s. Muawiyah initiated war against Ali and the sahaba including Ammar bin Yasir regarding whom the Prophet said, "A rebellious group will kill Ammar. He will be calling them towards jannah and the group will be calling him towards jahannum." Muawiyah's army killed Sayyidna Ammar. Muawiyah and his governors literally asked and demanded people to curse Ali. And you have the gall to call him 'Muawiyah AS'? Curses be upon those who hurt the Ahlul Bayt and those who love those individuals despite knowledge being presented to them.

Muawiya was FITNA for Islamic Ummah he:
1) Refused to accept Khilafat of Hazrat Ali (AS) the rightfuly elected khalifa,
2) Fought battles against Hazrat Ali (AS) and was responsible for killing of many muslims,
3) Put Quran on the tip of the spears as a trick in the battle of Siffeen when he was loosing the battle, thus desecrated Quran as a battle tactics for his self protection,
4) Aamar Yasir was told by the Prophet Muhammad (SW) that he will be killed fighting against a rebellious group and was killed fighting against Muawiya in battle of Siffeen, 4) He invited Hazrat Aysha (RA) wife of the Prophet and killed burying her in a well.(Al-Tabari, Ibn-e-Khuldoon, Khilafat & Malukiat )
Abu Sufyan was the biggest enemy of Islam who constantly organized and fought battles against our Prophet Muhammad (SW). The wife of Abu Sufyan Hinda chew the lever of Hazrat Ameer Hamza (RA) in the battle of Uohad. Muawiya was son of Abu Sufyan who sowed fitna in Islam that still prevails. Yazid son of Muawiya killed mercilessly Imam Hussain and his colleagues and made the the Aal- Rasool prisoners parading them in streets and later brought them before Yazid. This is a brief history of Abu Sufyan.
Before Allah the human relationship has no value but it is the character of the person that is important. As such, the wife of the Pharaoh Aasia is a sign for the momins (Chapter At-Tahrim peated thoundsVerse - 11) and wives of two prophets Hazrat Noah and Lot (علیہ السلام) are signs for the pagans (Chapter At-Tahrim Verse -10). Therefore, we must respect Sahabas based on the criterion provided by Quran.
The Prophet prayed for 23 years at different places but the Muslim Ummah prays differently. While the shias
and some sunnis (malkies) do not fold their arms the majority of sunnis fold their arms but at differet places. This shows how much water was added in the milk. If this is the state of affair of an action repeated so many times then what to talk about hadees. The paid munafiq Ulemas fabricated hadees honoring the munafiq characters in Islam and the same propaganda is being done today to misguide the people.
This is the most balanced, critical view that one could have regarding ahle bait.
Yes we agree Mu'awiya was wrong and Ali was right R.A but we don't take it so far to declare him faasiq due to Allah blessing him with companionship of the prophet S.A.W. For the Shi'a to take it so far as to declare hatred on him is to be honest quite reasonable - but then to extend that to other high high Sahabi such as Abu Bakr and Umar is blasphemous.

I find it hard to believe that all the Sahaba are of the same calibre. It's just not true. Like in any aspect of life there will be the good and the bad. I am with Shaykh Ninowy on this issue.

To defend the Sahaabah, the Sunni concept of that is to be anti Shia, and also to defend Mu'awiyah and Yazid, and to hardly know Fatimah and hardly talk about Aliy, other than those few Hadeeth narrated if him in Bukhari. In Bukhari , Mu'awiyah is mentioned more than Fatimah, if she did not know her father. I am not as Sunni or Shia . I am only Muslim and have no problem in believing as I please. So, I don't like Mu'awiyah and Yazid and will attend a Shi'a lecture, Jumu'ah, class whenever I want to. I have no loyalty to Sunni or Shia.

Even after Hazrat Imam Hassan let Hazrat Muawiyah (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhumma) took the position as Khalifah? the answer is a big NO!!!! so who are you people to judge Hazrat Ameer Muawiyah Radi Allahu Ta'ala An? the Prophet Swallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, Sayyida Aisha, Ibn Umar and many other sahaba praised Ameer Muawiyah immense (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhumma). we (sunni) love both Hazrat Ali and Hazrat Muawiyah (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhumma) immense. Moreover the Prophet Swallallahu Alayhi Wasallam himself praised both Hazrat Ali and Hazrat Muawiyah (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhumma). the Prophet Swallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said that he loves Hazrat Ameer Muawiyah Radi Allahu Ta'ala An.
man, lets be honest, The holy Prophet said that " Muawiya the one no matter how much he eats, his stomach will never be full" secondly the politics between the Khilafa was that, the people didn't want Ali to give the khilafa to his son. as Hasan signed the Hasan-Muawiya treaty with Muawiyah. According to the treaty, Hasan ceded the caliphate to Muawiyah, but were to name no successor during his reign. the peace treaty were five, and who broke all five of it mashallah? one of them was that " khilafa would not go to his son Yazid but he did give it. like come on man, he was a hypocrite we all know, just accept the fact.
