Surely a programmed approach would be the only way to systematically test all the combinations. I would argue that Python made it easier
I clicked on this video expecting to just get the top 5 kart combinations with little to no explanation... Instead I got a gem that actually uses math and calculations to determine the best. Great vid!

@@Jopes I didn’t know if I could directly contact you so this is the best I’ll get. At 10:50 you said items were based on distance, not placement. This is kinda true but in second you can’t get a bullet bill no matter what and in last you can’t get a coin. Only certain items and their chances of being rolled will change based on distance. Btw shortcat (a UA-camr) made a great short on this If your interested. I’d like to end this saying I love your channel and are subbed and this is to inform and not to be rude. I fully support your channel and definitely think you should have way more subscribers!

Items in Mario Kart 8 *Deluxe* are actually determined by a combination of your distance from 1st and your race position.
I dont think race position matters at all

You clearly have a strong understanding of what's going on under the hood of the game, and it's awesome to learn about mechanics that I didn't know about, like the item possibilities being linked to the distance from 1st place. This is a really awesome breakdown and I'm glad someone with the brain power + coding knowledge also happens to be a huge Mario Kart fan to figure this out. I think the part about what % of the race is spent not at top speed/hit by items might have convoluted things more than it helped, as just a straight "what kart is fastest absent other factors?" might have made things easier and still been directionally accurate, since it doesn't sound like the acceleration stat makes much of a difference at least compared to speed and mini-turbo (at least as I'm understanding it, since I'm more just a casual player). In any case, really well done, and I think you did a great job simplifying it for folks who aren't great with calculations/math.

This is a great video and you did a good job, but the community has know for a long time that Yoshi, teddy buggy, rollers, and paper/cloud glider is the best. Mini turbo is only slightly better than speed. If you do the calculations thinking that way then teddy buggy comes out on top. Also if you look at the Teddy buggy's other stats it is clear they are more favorable. Your combination you came up with is still completely viable, and your calculations were very impressive!

kamek streedal and roller is probably the best because you forgot to calculate hidden stats like underwater speed and antigravity speed but maybe it doesn’t matter, either way it’s something to look into

I used to play tour a TON before I started playing 8 deluxe, so I loved seeing LA laps, Sidney sprint, and Vancouver velocity being added to the pass. Love your videos, keep up the great work!

I recently started using the Streetle/Sponge/Flower Glider combo.
I use daisy, but I've noticed that this kart combo works really well with a lot of characters.
Great video, did you do your calculations taking also into accounts hidden stats such as anti grav speed etc ?
and when they rebalance the karts in the next update, you can just update the spreadsheet as long as they don’t change how the stats work

great video. One thing I wondered is how the 88% at top speed would change when comparing different tracks, also the average amount of different turbos per race if tested on every available map
I was thinking that, Exitebike Arena is a very unique track so I don't think it's very fair to only test on that
