I worked at Lockheed Ga for 8 years and Kelly Johnson spoke at our management meeting one night. Conversations we always spoke about was the fact that the SR71 was designed and assembled in 1964 and that this was 1990. We use to say after 26 years something new had to be on or coming off the drawing board.
There were drip leaks of an SR71 replacement, which fit the narrative to explain why the SR71 retiring. The drip was very low frequency but it was there. Today, now we know.
Kelly Johnson discussed the many challenges they face and the time taken to overcome. Looking at this feat of marvel I would say the challenge was met but they waited for weaponry to catch up. Like the SR71, bullets and missiles were useless. The SR71 and 72 would outrun them both. Lasers are the perfect match

I worked for Lockheed Martin for a number of years after they merged with Martin Marietta Energy Systems and I am not aware of any airborne laser system that could match that description. I think 350kW would not be nearly enough power to work as described. The problem I have read about (not really my field but I've been interested for many years) is keeping the beam focused on target at supersonic speeds long enough to burn through anything more substantial than a sheet aluminum foil.

      Well.
Then both of You should some estimate to solve fuel capacity and air friction.
X-15 was carried up to 6 miles by B-52 and its rocket fuel was enough one short jump to high altitude, where it flied hyper speed.
At the lower atmosphere hyper speed needs more energy and the air friction heat it up and air will become the plasma.
When plasma cover up the space craft they can not see or hear nothing, the are completely blind.
But don´t see me as a party bumper. Just continue.
P.S. Hyper sonic missiles are over hyped too for same reason. on the hyper sonic speed it is blind and deft, when it will be close the target it must speed down and then it is like any other missile. of course the perception window is smaller.

The engines in this plane use rock'n roll for fuel. You can hear the engines in the background of the video, they sound like guitars, churning out heavy riffs, totally kicking it.
The pilots pick a style of Rock before they take off. Then they crank up the volume to "11", and blast out some killer tunes.

I was in the USAF in the early 1970’s. In 1973 I was told about the SR71 . It was already flying and taking pictures for awhile when I got my introduction. I couldn’t believe what it was able to accomplish. The U2 was still flying and taking reconnaissance shots and satellite photos were starting up and that was 1973.
50 Years AGO. I’m sure it’s gotten a lot better in the last 50 years…..what do you think?

The RQ-3 DarkStar was actually a highly-advanced, stealthy reconnaissance remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) designed for use in high-threat environments. Though it never entered production, the DarkStar was an important milestone in the development of even more capable RPAs which followed. Designed to be fully autonomous, the DarkStar could take off, fly to the target area, operate its sensors, transmit its sensor imagery, return to base and land without human intervention. Using satellite digital links to transmit sensor images, DarkStar could provide timely information across the globe. If needed, ground station operators could control the RPA from anywhere in the world using satellite links. The first DarkStar flew in 1996 but crashed on its second flight. In January 1999, the Department of Defense ended the program because of cost and aerodynamic stability problems. The Military Services are extremely sensitive when it comes to the re-use of a classified program's media name. The movie producers often add characters and objects of a fictional nature using some real names that are or were in use at some time or other.

It is not new, it is easily 20+ year old tech. As for 350 Kw that is bull shit the boys at S.W's. will equip it with 1+Mw neutral particle beam weapon ,because any weapon the SR72 will go after will have shielding that will give it heat resistance and those extra seconds to burn thru shielding . Lets just say that will be all the time needed to complete its mission.

15 miles is only about 80,000 feet - SR-71 could hit 88,000 feet at Mach 3.2 at burnout according to the published flight manual they sent to China for printing. The faster you can go, the higher you can go. Following the published dynamic pressure trajectory from Dr. William Heiser’s book “Hypersonic Airbreathing Propulsion”, a vehicle moving at Mach 6 would have to fly at a much higher altitude like closer to 100,000 feet, with a zoom climb hitting numbers I don’t think I can say. A Mach 3.2 capable Mig-25 hit 123,000 feet in a zoom climb. Not sure Darkstar has a reaction control system for flight above 140,000 feet (X-15 RCS transition, Jarvis & Lock, 1965), so Microsoft Flight Sim not quite accurate. If you disintegrate Darkstar at Mach 10.2, you were flying too low in the heavier atmosphere. If you pull up Darkstar at Mach 10 and don’t have an unscheduled disassembly, you could apogee in space. Falcon 9 is going Mach 10 around MECO (main engine cutoff) at 264,000 feet.

The movie had nothing to do with the development of “dark star” most sources point to it being operational 15-20years ago.
Rumor has it that we (the US) have been using a hypersonic vehicle that can be flown by a pilot or as a drone that is launched and recovered from the cargo bay of a C-5 galaxy using a gantry crane while well out to sea to make it much harder to get photos of and be able to confirm the program.
One thing that the renderings get wrong is that there are no windows. Cameras on the exterior of the craft send images to an immersive helmet. Most of the forward facing cameras are covered with a heat shield during hypersonic flight to protect them from heat exposure that would distort their view due to migration of the plasticized view ports cristal ( I’m not sure of the exact material used but it’s not glass) that would get so hot that the material slowly moves from the heat and friction. They had the same problem with the SR-71’s windows.
The expansion of the runway at Groom Lake and some other bases around the world was to allow for a landing if in air recovery wasn’t achievable due to weather or other factors.

I know this is nit picking but the SR in SR71 stands for strategic reconnaissance, it's not a fighter as the video keeps stating that it's a fighter. If it was a Fighter it would be an F72

If anyone remembers the anime Robotech, it had a series titled Macross 0 (Zero), those mixed with true tech the us has today?! You'd probably get something like sr72 from maverick! I'm guessing larger than the raptor but smaller than a B1 like the movie but with more material up front because of temperatures shocks to its parts?! That cockpit design was kind of silly considering it's predecessor. Whoever crews or pilots that plane realizes each sorte is a 1 way trip, especially at those speeds, and the worst happens! Think you'll hear "eject?!"God bless the US

Robotech is indeed the Macross anime series... but you have some of the order wrong.
Chronological order would be... Macross Zero, Robotech, Robotech II, Macross 7, Nacross Frontier, Nacross Delta.
Order of airing is ... Robotech, Robotech II, Macross 7, Macross Zero, Macross Frontier, Macross Delta.
Robotech was made in the USA, while all of the Macross series were made in Japan.
All that having been said... this video seems... fake. Many details are plain wrong and there is simply no proof anywhere about the existence of an actual SR-72 Aurora... which is the actual name of the aircraft from the Darkstar Project... which is why I know this video is pure trash.

At about 4 minutes into your video you refer to the SR-71 as a fighter plane, it was NOT a fighter plane it was a surveillance airplane.

Liquid will make no difference to the Gs the pilot is subjected to. The question is whether the 72 can fly at Mach or sub Mach speeds. What is the stall speed? Approach, landing and V1?
