They make their own stuff for the most part.
They built and operate their own nuclear CATOBAR aircraft carrier (only other country doing this is the US), they make their own fighter aircraft, they go and fight their own campaigns abroad (mali) instead of requiring a coalition of allies to assist them.
Their small arms, missiles, submarines are all indigenous.
I'm not sure how many countries have nuclear attack subs but France does.
I am literally fed up with these videos shot for the sole purpose of illustrating the military power of western nations and encouraging young people without professional skills or ambitions to enlist and join the armed force so they won't stay unemployed at home. The purpose of these videos extends ways beyond the real need for military power demonstrations through mass parades tactical manoeuvres and bootcamp drills as shown on the Internet . It is also a patent work of propaganda for the army !!! Although I am a frenchman myself I deeply resent this form of flamboyant publicity meant to praise and uphold the military spirit and values of my country . France has more to offer to the world than guided missiles combat aircraft and the foreign legion ....

Je pense que tu n'as pas saisis ce que représente une armée dans la diplomatie. Ce n'est que son prolongement, pour défendre des intérêts nationaux ou pour des situations que je ne souhaite pas : La nation !
Elle peut aussi apporter assistance aux personnes en difficulté comme sur l'île de Saint Martin quand un ouragan l'avait frappé, c'est un navire militaire qui est arrivé en premier avec à son bord des équipements lourds de déblayage.
Je suis d'accord avec ton propos sur le fait que la France a bien plus à offrir, culturellement et socialement, mais réduire le rôle de l'armée à des objectifs de guerre est très irrespectueux pour les hommes et femmes qui compossent les différentes armes !
