This is incredible, Tim. I’m just coming across your sermons, and I’ve followed The Bible Project for about a year now. Ever since I learned the Hebrew word “Hevel”, I’ve incorporated that into my own prayers of suffering, to help me process all the craziness of life lately. “Hevel” has helped me walk through so much, and it helps me to see God more clearly as I continue to walk in this sometimes overwhelming and disorienting life. Thank you for all that you do!!! May God continue to be glorified in your ministry.

Thank you! You make all the pieces of the "Bible puzzle" fit in perfect harmony and easy to understand. I discovered the Bible project during Covid-19 quarantine. I loved it so much that I wanted more and now I'm a big fan of your sermons. I definitely need Jesus in my life, more and more everyday, but you really made a difference in my life. Bless you and your team!

There were times I asked God in my pain, "God, seriously?", like "You see and know that I hurt, but You're not preventing this pain from hurting me." I shared this thought with some friends, and they kinda got scared that I should "question" God or what He allows. I said that I just wanted to be honest with the Lord.

Kimberly Ann Dolor asking God is not wrong. I don’t listen to the advice of those who can’t empathize on some level what I’m experiencing. Listening to this series should encourage and give great insight as to The Why?

Having had this experience at times in my life, i remember begging God to save me from this or to fix that or heal this person. And why wouldn't He want to do those things? He has not always answered me the way i hoped for, but He Always made me see my blessings, and how many good things were in my life despite the woes that brought me to my knees. He gives me confidence in places i may not have had otherwise. Imagine having nowhere to turn! Who would we cry out to then? As little children we have mom and dad to run to. They cant always fix things, but they can always love and be there for us till its passed. As adults, we can run to God the Father, who doesn't always "fix" things, but is there and will never leave us.

Lamenting is usually for a season....it's not just one prayer and You're all done and worked through it........
don't be surprised if a lot of Christian friends cannot handle this. You're not supposed to have any feelings but totally trust in God in many circles. You're not allowed to feel abandoned by God or you'll be told your not reading your Bible enough ....or you don't have enough faith. They are uncomfortable with your suffering and want you to buck up and say the right magic Christian words quickly..... fix it fast!
Just saying be careful who you share your honest prayers with. Generally speaking those who haven't walked this path of deep suffering..... who have never actually felt how David feels in this prayer will just not be able to get it.

I don’t mean this to be snarky, but many Psalms were written as music, not just lyrics, but with even musical instruction included in them. It’s great if you receive readings of the Bible better without music, but certainly there is no inherent problem with using background music, esp given the history and origin of the Psalms.

After the lament, getting it all out. Reminding God and himself of God's great saving acts in the past. David gets it all out there. What is interesting is as Tim points out 22:22-31. It is as if God showed up and submerged David in his river of pleasure and took him as David did with lame Mephibosheth and brought him into his house and to his table to eat of the fatness of God himself. Psalms 36:8. In prayer, God does bring us to his river and lets us feel his pleasure. It is difficult to describe what this is all about other than to say that it is "life" as God intends it to be. The life of Christ in us manifested.

Dominique Devine the Doctrine is of the Word and Word alone. As all denominations should be. Salvation is through knowing God, that he was Lord Christ Messiah Jesus (Yeshua) and by living life through the good works he showed us by example and loving through the " hidden"meanings taught in parables. I am not sure of every one here but that's where I'm at. I need no structure or uniformed religion in order to read of the Spirit; just like Jesus get me a whip and I'll run the money changers right out of my Father's house.

    • @rvz77

Le Voyeur I understand where you come from. Although I am Catholic, I start here where you are, because of organized religion, you need to develop a rltnshp with God. You don't follow the doctrines blindly, you walk with the Lord, live for the Lord everyday. THEN you can look deeper into to doctrines.
Unfortunately too many ppl just follow a particular religious denomination & believe they'll be saved.
Even for catholicism, the Saints were fervently devoted to God as we're the Apostles, yet today's organized religious members just go through the motions. For instance, they don't devote themselves to deep daily rituals of prayer, devotion, meditation. Many DO, but so many luke-warm sects of Christianity DON'T. Very sad in light of how devoted Jews and Muslims are, you can see why there is a rise in Atheism. Going through motions creates an empathetic, total void of passion.
I listen to a variety of sects and what resonates as the Lord rings true. What doesn't isnt.
God knows our hearts before we speak. & we need to open our hearts to receive the Holy Spirit, to ask to be led to follow the Truth!
      GREAT SERIES!

    • @MadolcheGabbana
      @MadolcheGabbana 6 років тому +1

rvz77 that's a healthy a positive way to view the acts as devotions and setting apart from the ways of the World through these doctrines. The beauty of God is allowing us like Paul showed the differences we can have but ones that don't ultimately rattle the faith of one another (i.e. Types of meats, days of Holy days etc) A lot of it seems to of been tainted for worse, but that's in Christianity too. Most leaders of men seem to go to the prince of this Age. All good though because yes we do have the truth in Christ Jesus through the power in our Father God.
Have a blessed day brother :]
May you and yours be graced by God, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

@@MadolcheGabbana My channel has a few good videos of both being weary of institutions, and following God no matter where you are, and enjoying institutions if that is where God puts you. Check them out if your are interested! If not, no biggie. I think God puts us where we are supposed to be and lives in our heart. Some are the tongues of the body and only need the word. Others are the arms and want to gather, they need community. Others are the knees of the body, and they need doctrine and religion to bow down and kneel before the king. As long as we follow Yeshua (Jesus) and the light of God then we are a part of the Body, and each part has it's purpose. All the children of God need to go back to God, that is the most important part. to stay away from sin and secular thinking. God bless!

    God's Negligence leads to Sin.
Yet, he sends Christ to ne humiliated on the cross to overcome Sin.
Then he ignores those who seek him and blesses the wicked in abundance in plain sight. The more you seek, the more he tortures you.
Then it's your fault for lack of faith. While the non believer boasting of his sins daily, receives the answers you kneel for right before your eyes.

    • @desireeclarins5491

You have it all twisted. That's how Satan works. It is OUR negligence to abide by the wisdom of God that leads to suffering. God doesn't bless the wicked....he gives them over to their sin and to their leader, Satan. Satan is the god (lower case "g") of this world, and it is Satan who rewards those on earth who turn their back on God and turn to Satan's evil ways. Proof of this is when Satan offers the world to Jesus if only Jesus would bow down and worship Satan. This implies that Satan has temporary reign over this fallen world. Indeed the Bible clearly states that Satan will have reign of this world for awhile.....but it is only temporary.....God will take it back from Satan. Everyone will be judged in the end. Those wicked people who SEEM to be blessed sure won't feel that way on the Great Day of Judgement. Ignore these words at your own peril. You have the means to read and study the Bible and to have a personal relationship with Jesus......if you reject this, then God will rightly condemn you because you chose not to believe....or to even investigate further to gain greater understanding. I hope you will look into the Bible and God and Jesus a lot more. It's only your eternal life that is at stake......

    • @mao4324

@@desireeclarins5491 the scripture is simple and straight forward. Satan is not the god of this earth. Christ is King, and since ALL things were created through CHRIST, that was the stupidest temptation I have ever heard.
Imagine your 5 year old child trying to trick you. That the last temptation in a nutshell. Christ is the High Priest of God, you can't tempt him.
Mayne you don't understand that scripture too well.
Don't read what I wrote in a high standing fashion, open your eyes and judge it for yourself. If you don't understand it, you haven't lived. Truet me.
There's blind worship because people fear hell. There are those who do lip service but are corrupt and evil in secret. Judge yourself.
God is a living God. Read the first commandment in detail. He is not an idol. He abhors idols. He mocks our foolishness in worshipping idols that "DO NOT RESPOND". Yet He does not respond.

Hi, i know exactly how you feel. I was once saying the exact same things. Now before you eye roll and say here we go, I'm not going to condemn or preach at you. I said pretty much the same thing and worse to God. I rejected Him but He wouldn't let me go. Instead, something very profound happened. I blocked out Churchianity and i told God I'd give him another chance! (Sheesh, the arrogance i had!) Anyway, i didn't pray to God, i had conversations with Him. Long story short, i began to realise how much the church and other religious institutions lie and twist things to make you feel this way. I read the bible stand alone, without any input from any Christian. Just me and God, and now my mind is blown. God showed up and guided me in the right direction, which was away from Churchianity. I pray now, i still ask a million and one things, Tim Mackie and his teaching was the answer to one such prayer because I needed to learn in depth but i could not find any teacher that resonated. Our relationship with God is a personal one. The church is meant to be there to help us, but they fail. Go to God and when you are ready, He will guide you. I wasn't ready for many years. Like this teaching, i poured it all out, and not in a polite way i might add, just how disappointed i was in God. Turned out my disappointment was with people who had intentionally and unintentionally turned me away from Him. I hope and pray that you reach the place where you can hear God, personally. God will not condemn you for hurting. God will condemn those who condemn you. Don't give up on God and His promises, He loves you no matter what the world tells you. Sorry, i think that was a bit preachy 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😂😉❤

    • @mao4324

@@maxmehay268 I don't follow any church, the book is there. I don't need preaching from flesh who exalt themselves.
I have done my bit. God does not look for the lost sheep. He ignores and abandons them. Before you use Christ's suffering to try and nullify my situation. I am not Christ. I am under no persecution for the Body of Christ, just an ordinary human being, a life.
A personal relationship? That's all I've sought for over 2 decades. No result, no relationship. No help, no support, no guidance, NOTHING. I am done with coincidence, false hope, empty hope.
The same God, that hates idols, challenged us, that idols DON'T RESPOND SO WHY SHOULD WE PRAY TO THEM. He then doesn't respond. Faith is a lie. It doesn't work by all the rules and laws it is bound by (I've read that book)
Did Sarai deserve to be barren till she was old and wrinkled, suffer the shame and humiliation day and night. NO!
Did Abraham deserve fatherhood, for a short time. NO! The man deserved it for far longer.
Did Hannah deserve the humiliation and pain from being barren. NO
We have a God that talks about relationships and how loving he is and how much he cares. Then he does NOTHING. And we blame it on ourselves.
Tell me, Abraham suffered before he was chosen, Abel suffered death for nothing, Pharaoh wanted to let the Israelites GO, but GOD HARDENED HIS HEART AND STOPPED HIM, THUS FORCING HIM TO SIN and suffer death as a consequence. How is that love. Look at Job, innocent, God Fearing, he LOST 9 children, 9 Lives were ended over a game by the devil, that's how important those lives were. Jobs 9 children were parents, what about their children, what about their pain and suffering, jobs grief, he often incase his children sinned, he lived for God. Yet the God he so loved visited him with torture. Had job given up and failed (remind you of Pharoah) he too would be written as an evil man, and he would have faced death.
That is the God I know.
I prayed with effort in so many areas of life, no results, no answers, just further unnecessary pain. What if I am Pharaoh and his desire is to harden my heart, force me to sin and do a miracle so that he is glorified.
I have lived for God long enough, I will not take a step again towards him without him responding. He is not an idol, he said he is living.
I will not be satisfied with reading about other peoples experiences with God. I am alive, I deserve that experience.
God said we are evil, Christ told of how we are evil and would still feed our own children, that he is bu far more than us. Yet I starve and am starving for decades.
My friend. I am alive. And have done my bit, my spirit is satisfied with MY efforts in life for the sake of GOD, I will not take a step forward, until he decides to be my God. He is NOT an idol

@@mao4324 all the questions you ask are valid and actually all the answers are given by the scriptures which Tim Mackie breaks down into contextual language for us. All those stories you mention and the questions you ask are all answered if you read the whole thing in context and not forgetting, it is not a westernized cultural setting these stories were written in, you have to read it in context to the age it was set in and the things that were happening. Why didn't Job diss God if he was hurt so much by his actions? Why did Abraham keep the faith for so long? (By the way,he lived to a very old age and had many years with his son.) The reactions of all the people who you claim God wronged does not marry with them feeling wronged, all you have to do is look at their reactions to evidence this. At that time and the way they lived so much was going on that they understood what God was doing. It was not as it is now. As for Pharaoh, God gave him many chances to do the right thing before He hardened his heart. In the end, even Pharaoh's people thought Pharaoh had lost the plot and were probably glad when God took him out. God will not give up on you, but you have to allow yourself to hear Him. No demands, no expectations, no requests or cries for help, just listen. Be still, be quiet, be open and He will come. He will not abandon you. The Devil works harder the closer you get to God, if you are suffering this much, and i hear and recognise your pain and frustration, that means you are closer to God than you think. The Devil is screaming at you because He does not want you to hear God. he wants you to turn away from Him. Please, just open your heart one last time and just talk to God. Tell Him everything, like Tim says in this video. He will not leave you, but you have to make the decision now, right here and now whether you talk or walk. Push aside the past, your frustration, anger, and just be open to His love. I will pray for you, as I'm sure someone out there prayed for me. The choice is yours. No matter what, and this may be super corny and cliched but God loves you. Once you believe that, even against all the odds, you will hear Him. Job believed it, Abraham believed it, i eventually after a long arduous journey believed it. I pray you begin to believe it too.
P.S. Tim Mackie has done some amazing videos literally asking and answering the questions you state in these videos and in The Bible Project animations. I implore to have a look, keep going, and I've said it loads and I will keep saying it, God loves you and will not abandon you. If God can love and never abandon someone like me, and I'm a complete wreck the worst of the worst, then believe me you are super loved. I hope you hear this and take it in the way it is intended.

Well.. he was just a teaching pastor. Lol. Not the head pastor. Teaching on topics/themes and pointing them to the cross was his job
