This was a big statement for the program during this tournament. Dutcher has these youngsters playing at high level. Shout out to the Bigman MAGOO, and the rest of the squad
Missed your voice since the Pads smashed our hearts. Great show as always. I’m not sure how this team will do in comparison to recent seasons, but damn, they are young, talented, and play with relentless effort. I did not expect us to roll into Vegas and take two of three, which made it all the more enjoyable. Very proud Aztec fan here. Colby
T Mack and I were on field of 68 and hammered them so hard in the chat about not recognizing the Aztecs that Rob Dauster ended up giving us some props at the end of their show. 😂😂😂
First congrats on probably producing probably the first and nearly only show so far commenting on the Aztec men's basketball performance at the Eras tourney in LV this weekend. The only other show I've seen produced on the same subject is Talking Friars. This was supremely important to getting to the postseason since I don't think there will be any more Quad one non-conference opportunities. In conference many if not most rankings still place Nevada ahead of the Aztecs and Utah State about even plus a couple more within about 10 spots plus a couple more near the border between quad one and two. Despite what is said in this video, there is probably a very strong chance four teams will be selected for March Madness and possibly two more that have work to do to get in and they'll have plenty of opportunities because they're placing many of the same non-conference opponents as SDSU. It's unprecedented for Aztec teams to be playing at such a high level near the beginning of the year, typically all Aztec teams start very slow but this year is different. Will the Aztecs hit their ceiling early or will they continue to improve and be awarded a high seed? It'll be interesting because I don't think expectations were that high because of the leadership turnover and numbers of freshmen and sophomores playing this year but these players are proving they can win at least half the time against top competition. Shoutouts to the players that stepped up to score in the Houston game when the top 3 usual shooters were mostly shut down shooting only 30%. They were inarguably the surprise factor Houston didn't game plan for
Jon as a 70 yr old native San Diegan who now lives in east Tennessee and thanks to you I now have a knowledgeable source of info about my AZTECS, PADRES and BOLTS and for that kudos and blessings, Jon!
It was an awesome game. I was critical of a few things, especially in the first half, that carried over from the Oregon game. Not getting defensive boards, making some bad fouls/leaving your feet, and not making free throws. All that changed in the second half for a nice surprise and added to the positives - taking care of the ball, hitting some 3s, playing exceptional defense with fantastic blocking. Biggest question mark is Miles Heide. He hasn’t seemed to improve on last year and I’m not sure he’s really contributing in any way other than to give guys a rest.
People should know how big the Gulf is between SDSU as a mid conference school is compared to the power conferences. Probably every other school at the ERAS tourney in Las Vegas has an annual budget at least 10x that of SDSU and that isn't an exaggeration and why SDSU is leaving the Mountain West to join the PAC. Even Gonzaga is leaving the WCC to join the PAC as well to survive the new competitive environment.
Here’s hoping goon continues to grow like Byrd has, I see more in Compton though I pray next year we get a senior 5 to play down low. We will be Dangerous hoping we see the big dance this season but next year we could be special….
Regarding that last try Houston shot by Cryer that missed, I can't see how that shot was contested except by the the most loose definition. It was a clean look with no one in his face and no obstructed vision. I wouldn't completely say that the defense boke doen on that play because it was critical to avoid a foul but I also don't know that shot was supposed to be so unopposed
That Players ERA tourni was top notch. Aztecs need to be in it every year being right in their backyard. Re football, what happened to Kenan Christon? Did he get a medical RS this year? Would love to see him carry the workload next year.
When Reese returns, I don't see any changes, he'll just dlide into the rotation. Already now the Aztecs are mostly playing a big man (Gwarh or Heide), a #4 and a trio of guards. Reese is actually big enough to take a turn at the four if Dutch wants to play 4 guards but at least today I don't see Gwath able to hold down Big Guy duties by himself like Ledee did last year. Maybe bext year uf Geath can put on another 20-40 lbs.
They put 60th in the NET, lol. We’re 4-2 and we’re number 1 in average NET ranking of opponent. Liberty and North Texas are in front of us. I think we have to take the initial NET ranking with a grain of salt. Colby

Jon, you are fantastic at what you do. I'm not exaggerating. Very easy to listen to and very informed. Good energy. You deserve a raise!
Can you let my bosses know!? 🤣 Seriously though I appreciate you, Fred!

They've comported themselves well so far (and they have so much room to grow (could be a real good group))
Thanks for watching and commenting!

reminds me of 2022 minus the elite elite scoring option , hopefully Byrd or waters or both become that but they have that IT factor I think
Thank you!
And, Finally...was wondering if you would ever post another episode this season! 😢
Thanks!
Thanks so much!!!

I love the type of kids Dutcher and Lewis recruit that represents SDSU and the city l of San Diego with pride, class, energy and passion!!

Couldn’t agree more on MH.

Wake Forest catching strays out here lol
Not intentionally lol
Yes I can see that

Not sure if he took a medical RS or not but good question.

waters at the 4 would be lethal if he gained some weight
Appreciate your input…. I believe we still need some mass underneath. Not a Jayden Ledee but a stronger presence. Did Reese Waters leave?
He has a foot injury

100%
Jon why do we hardly get dutcher post game press conferences after games? Seems hard to find them. I heard kelvin Sampsons immediately after, thank.
Not sure on that one! Thanks for watching.
