My wife Rose and I were terribly crushed that you were eliminated from The Voice...we both agreed that you were overqualified to be a contestant on the show and that you as an artist will soar farther than any one of your colleagues....we have faith in you to release a record soon which will be a Grammy award winning album!! You go SoCal girl!!
Oh the mother, she still has that asian-style (more of japanese-style) of hiding herself a bit when she laughed and the way she talks still all soft. Its cute!^^ and Judith, your hair is amazingly BADASS!! You look gorgeous.

Interesting discussion that will soon be posted to Black Tokyo. I often hear barbers, moms and their Blasian children talk about hair. I'm glad to see more children and young adults loving who they are and embracing what's natural.
I had the same problem growing up, I have thick extremely curly hair that I just hated growing up, all the other girls at school had straight hair... Did horrible things to it, to hide its natural form by constantly straightening it and other chemicals which I sincerely regret now. But like you I got to a point where I now love and embrace my natural thick, curly hair.
my 9 year old niece has the same problem. Being mixed as well, there is only so much her mom can do for her. I love her natural hair. I hope she learns to embrace it as she gets older.
Although both of my parents are black, I have a similar hair texture as you, Judith. I finally let go of the relaxers and embraced my curls and I'm much happier now and more confident. Seeing your hair just make me even more proud, like YES THIS IS AWESOME. Thank you so much and for showing other girls/women of color to be proud of those roots. Pun intended.

I love your hair! I have the same problem. I am fully Chinese but I have super curly hair. My parents never knew what to do with my hair. They would give me a bowl cut because that's what every other Chinese parent did to their kid with straight hair, except I ended up with a mini fro. I got it straightened in my teens but eventually I started embracing my curls. It's got a mind of its own! Amazing to know there's an (part) Asian out there that's had the same hair problems as me!
Yup my mom had the same struggle with my sister and I's hair growing up. Thankfully my grandmother on my father's side would help and teach her how to do our hair.

Other than your amazing voice, your hair, sistah, is what arrested me. Its lovely. Lost my hair to illness for the last time in 2016 and it just never recovered. Glad I embraced it about 10 or so yrs prior and stopped altering its texture then. So got to appreciate it in its long goodbye. But since then other people’s hair has been my obsession. 😍

I am a quarter African american and I have literally the same hair as you. really really thick, really really dark and really really really really curly. I wish I had as much confidence as you do. I actually spend hours straitening my hair, which is awful. But I love how artfully you do your hair and you've inspired me to try and go au natural again and see what happens. lol

Wow. The first time I saw you on The Voice I thought "Her hair is awesome!" I was surprised/encouraged to see this video and see that you had the same love/hate relationship with your hair that I had/have.
I had similar issues with my hair in school. My mom left my hair natural but all of my black friends had their hair relaxed. I made the mistake of relaxing mine too and watched it break off :) but I'm back to natural now and really liking it. I still have some hair struggles, though. :)
