This was fantastic Nate. I loved hearing your take and thanks for joining me.
Your reflections were spot on here!
This was my best book of 2022.

I really appreciate you putting out the call at the beginning of the year. You were finally the impetus that got me to read this so thank you!

I can't put my hands on this book. I've been trying to buy it at an affordable price for 5 years but I can't.

There's a 200 dollar paperback available right now!

Always a treat to see new content from you. I love your little word game, because it points out how absurd his word choices are but while you read the book the context usually makes it fairly understandable (but then you look up the word and realize he's made a difficult but perfect choice, rarely would the sentence work better with a simpler word). I really enjoyed this (did not enjoy Three Wogs very much so I've taken a bit of a break from Theroux.. but I have Laura Warholic, An Adultery, and the tough poets ones lined up, maybe next year...)
Great job as always, hope your winter is less busy and that we get to see more of you!

I actually read this book years ago because Nancy Pearl lauded it in Book Lust, and I loved it!

Hope you enjoy it. I think there are definitely singular chapters that stick out, even if on the whole it's an uneven masterpiece.

You are missing the point and concentrating on irrelevant things. The long words are fairly unimportant. That's not what the book is about.

No other reason to read Theroux let's be real!
